SAFETY Only persons with authorisation should install and maintain the system. Mains voltage should be disconnected when connecting batteries. Connecting Batteries Battery wiring is installed on circuit board at delivery. Note - the image only shows how wiring is to be connected. 1. Place the batteries in the cabinet with the battery poles outward, towards the cabinet door. 2. Connect the battery wiring from the circuit board as illustrated. 3. Turn on automatic fuse. When installing batteries in external shelf/box, see separate installation instructions. Connected in series: 24 V. 2 x 12 V, 28 Ah. 2 x 12 V, 45 Ah. + - + - If possible, cut mains voltage at battery replacement. 9
Commissioning/Testing The system is working normally when D1 lights green continually. D1 gives the same signals as the indication LED on the outside of the cabinet door. System test: 1. Turn on incoming mains voltage. 2. Indication LED, D1, lights green, normal operation. 3. Cut mains voltage to check that the unit works in battery mode and alarms. 4. Indication LED, D1, lights yellow for alarm type, see panel. 5. Turn on incoming mains voltage. Indication LED, D1, lights green, normal operation. SW2 : Only when power supply is not connected. Enables start-up in battery mode before power supply is connected to the system: Press SW2 to start the system. Resetting: Reset the system by disconnecting the battery cables and mains voltage and reconnecting after 5 seconds. Questions? +46 31-340 02 30 support@milleteknik.se Panel description and Alarm settings Panel. The system is working normally when the indication LED on the cabinet door lights green continually. The indication LED gives the same signals as D1. See panel on cabinet door for description of indication. 24 V (12 V) 27,3 V (13.65 V) 26,7 V (13,15 V) JU 1 = 24,5 V (12,25 V) Alarm levels in the event of dropping voltage: 24 V (12 V) Alarm. The system gives an alarm in the event of a function fault, power failure, low battery voltage, battery disconnected at start-up or defective power supply. Alarm levels. Jumper JU1 controls alarm level. If JU1 is not installed an alarm is given, when the voltage drops below 26.7 V, (13,15 V for 12 V), immediately during battery operation. If JU1 is installed, an alarm is given at 24.5 V, (12, 25 V for 12 V), alarm given when approx. 50% of the battery has discharged. 10
Alarm description Power failure alarm, P2:7-9. In the event of a power failure, the indication LED ( D1 ) on the board lights yellow and the panel also lights yellow continually, alarm is given on P2:7-9. Check that mains voltage is connected and that fuse F6 is intact. Overvoltage alarm, P2:10-12. In the event of an overvoltage alarm, the indication LED ( D1 ) on the board lights red and the panel also lights red continually, alarm is given on P2:10-12 and out on buzzer alarm. In the event of overvoltage, the system charge voltage exceeds 28.5 V. This can mean that the batteries or load are/is damaged. This may be due to incorrectly calibrated or defective power supply. Undervoltage alarm/low battery voltage, P2:10-12. In the event of an undervoltage alarm, the indication LED ( D1 ) on the board lights red and the panel also lights red continually, alarm is given on P2:10-12 and out on buzzer alarm. In the event of undervoltage alarm, the charge voltage falls below 26.7 V, (13,15 V for 12 V), if JU1 is installed an alarm is given at 24.5 V, (12, 25 V for 12 V). An undervoltage alarm indicates that the power supply cannot supply enough high voltage, may be incorrectly calibrated or defective. When installing new batteries, the system voltage may drop temporarily. The batteries then need charging. It can take up to 24 hours before the voltage increases to the correct level and the alarm stops. Disconnected batteries, P2:10-12. If the batteries are not correctly connected at start-up; the batteries are defective; if the fuses have tripped, the indication LED ( D1 ) and panel light red continually, alarm is given on the buzzer. NOTE! If the batteries are disconnected after start-up, no alarm is triggered (for disconnected batteries). 11
Maintenance 100% 80% 50% The system, with the exception of batteries, is maintenance free for installations in indoor environments. Batteries Batteries generate electricity via a chemical process and there is therefore a natural degradation of capacity. The main factor for battery service life is temperature. The greater the temperature, the shorter the service life. An ideal temperature is 20 C. 40 C 30 C 20 C 0% 1 år 2 år 3 år 4 år 5 år 6 år The illustration shows how the battery loses power, over time, when the temperature increases. Actual degradation varies. The date of manufacture that is stamped on the battery and the service life (stated by the battery manufacturer) applies to a completely unused battery. Thus, the actual service life varies. Batteries should be replaced after HALF the indicated service life for safe operation. Batteries purchased via Milleteknik have a service life of between 10-12 years, with a recommended replacement interval of 5-6 years. Battery replacement (For units with separate battery shelf or battery box; refer to the manual.) If possible, cut mains voltage at battery replacement. Battery replacement: 1. Remove the fuse from between the batteries. Turn off any automatic fuse. (Remove any battery fuse from the circuit board). 2. Note the position of the battery cables before removal. 3. Insert and secure the new batteries. 4. Connect the battery cables in the same way as before. 5. Reinstall the fuse on the circuit board, fuse(s) between the batteries and turn on any automatic fuse. 6. Turn on mains voltage. The indication LED may light red for a few hours until the batteries have charged. 7. Test the system by temporarily disconnecting the mains voltage, (= the load is powered by the batteries), and then turn the mains voltage back on. Battery recycling Recycle all batteries. Return old batteries to the manufacturer or take them to a recycling station. 12
