OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Controls and Their Functions TEMPERATURE CONTROL KNOB The control knob adjusts the power to the heat element. Temperature Control Knob Operating Instructions Apples used to make candy apples must be dry and room temperature for candy to stick properly. 1. Mix two packages of Gold Medal Reddy Apple Mix (Item No. 4146) and 12 ounces of water into the apple cooker pot. Stir the mix until it is completely saturated with water. Candy apples may also be made using Gold Medal APPL EZ; follow instructions on the bag. 2. Turn the Control Knob to the HI setting. 3. Insert a Gold Medal Thermometer (Item No. 4300) into the mixture. 4. Stir the mixture occasionally until the mix begins to boil rapidly. Once the candy boils rapidly no mixing will be necessary until candy reaches 300 F. CAUTION: Candy mixture is HOT; avoid contact with skin. 5. While the mixture is cooking, insert a Gold Medal Candy Apple Stick into the top of each apple (apples must be dry and room temperature). 6. When the mixture reaches 300 F (approximately 20 minutes), then turn the unit OFF. Page 6

7. Carefully put the cooker pot in the tilt position for dipping apples (see image below). CAUTION: Apple cooker pot will be hot; DO NOT touch it with your hands. Use oven mitt or similar protective device when handling apple cooker pot. 8. Hold an apple by the stick and carefully dip it into the candy mixture twisting until completely covered. 9. Place coated apples onto a clean, flat, wax papered surface to cool and harden. Do not let apples touch one another or they will stick together. 10. When finished dipping apples, pour the remaining mix onto a flat cookie sheet to cool and harden, then it can be broken into pieces. 11. When finished making apples, place the pot on unit in the cooking position and pour approximately 2 cups of water in the Apple Cooker Pot. Cover pot with the Steam-N- Clean Lid, then turn the unit to HI. Allow water to boil so the steam will clean the inside of the pot. CAUTION: Beware of rising steam; make sure to keep face and hands clear of the rising steam. 12. Turn unit OFF. Allow to cool, then empty the pot. 13. When apples are completely cool and candy has hardened, apples may be wrapped individually. Apple Cooker with pot shown in cooking position.
