PRESS RELEASE F1 Lindlar, 03 February 2012 B.E.G. Brück Electronic GmbH a company with a tradition stretching back for over 30 years company portrait B.E.G. Brück Electronic GmbH was established in Lindlar (near Gummersbach) more than 30 years ago in 1975. At the time, business commenced with the development and production of emergency lamps. Group supply systems for use in emergency lighting applications were subsequently added to the range. The company commenced the production of motion detectors in 1986 and B.E.G. soon became a pioneer on the motion detector and automatic lamp sectors. Since then, B.E.G. has produced several generations of motion detectors mainly for outdoor use on buildings that help increase security. Other product families, e.g. VIDEOLUX and LUXO- MAT ECOLIGHT, were also developed to broaden the range. The growth in automated systems for buildings and the resulting control processes where people are monitored has resulted in greater demands being made on systems that are able to detect the presence of people. The fact that energy resources are dwindling and becoming more expensive has also increased the importance of motion detectors because in future there will be an ever growing need to achieve savings. On 1 June 2006, B.E.G. re-assumed responsibility for the handling of the sales of its entire production range of motion detectors, automatic lamps, energy-saving spotlights, emergency lamps and dimming switches from the previous sales partner with the aim of re-establishing close ties with its customers. 2006 also was B.E.G. Brück Electronic GmbH acquiring certification in accordance with ISO 9001:2000. The foundation stone for a new sales and logistics centre with adjacent production and development department was laid in Lindlar in 2006. The new site has been designed to enable the company to be better able to face today s challenges. The new building was occupied in 2007. Besides, 2009 the company B.E.G. Brück Electronic GmbH was acquiring recertification in accordance with ISO 9001:2008. Today, B.E.G. enjoys an excellent reputation throughout Germany and internationally and operates branches and agencies in many countries all over the world.

PRESS RELEASE P1 Lindlar, 20 December 2011 Innovative occupancy detectors by B.E.G. for almost any application energy and cost savings with modern lighting engineering now also available for DSI- and DALI-BUS systems. With a new presence detector for DSI- and DALI-BUS systems, the familyrun B.E.G. Brück Electronic GmbH, which can look back on more than 30 years of business, is now able to provide a full occupancy detector range for networked applications and has thus once again confirmed its lead on the market for motion and occupancy detectors. As the consistent further development of the analogue occupancy detector with dimmer, the new digital detector permits users to control both DSI and DALI electronic ballast systems. Power is supplied through the DSI/DALI presence detector. KNX and LON occupancy detectors are supplied with both the sensor component and corresponding BUS connector. Under the motto, Energy savings, security and comfort, B.E.G. supplies occupancy detectors for almost any professional lighting-control application, e.g. in schools, sports halls, department stores, warehouses, office blocks, corridors, public baths, museums and staircases. One of the strengths of this company based in Lindlar (near Gummersbach) is how it is able to efficiently and rapidly respond to special customer requests. Besides the complete networked occupancy detection programme for KNX, LON, DSI and DALI networks, the range also includes standard products for dimming and switching with occupancy and daylight sensors. Almost all types are available as a 360 detector for surface, ceiling and concealed installation as well as a version with a 180 detection range for wall assembly. B.E.G. s occupancy detectors are able to cover areas measuring between 10 and 40 metres across. A mini occupancy detector sized only 45 millimetres with a performance, however, that equals that of its larger brothers has also recently become available in an electrically separated IP65 version for wet rooms. The developers at B.E.G. have also created special products for use at great heights of up to ten metres, e.g. in highshelving warehouses or sports halls. B.E.G. also supplies a special corridor detector with a very narrow but long detection range of up to 40 metres across with wide-ranging frontal detection, which may, for example, be used in hotel corridors. This product thus delivers cost and energy savings without requiring any great wiring work. Work which when many detectors are switched in parallel is also associated with greater fire hazards. Most of the detectors may be controlled by a infrared remote control, others also possess an additional integrated acoustic sensor. The range of occupancy detectors is rounded off by a wireless detector, which transmits a coded radio signal to activate the associated receiver.

PRESS RELEASE P1 All these occupancy detectors marketed exclusively through electric wholesalers under the LUXOMAT brand have one thing in common: through a second channel, they activate and deactivate both lights and other loads (e.g. heating, air-conditioning, ventilation) only as required and therefore help not only save energy costs but also make a not inconsiderable contribution to the reduction of pollution and CO 2 emissions as required by the Kyoto protocol.

PRESS RELEASE P2 Lindlar, 02 April 2012 NEW occupancy detector/range for all BUS applications: DALI, DSI, KNX, LON, Wireless the compact, energy-efficient and versatile light-control systems by B.E.G. The continued development of network technologies employed in the automated engineering systems of buildings and the great demands made on reliability has provided that B.E.G. with ever increasing opportunities to increase market shares with innovative products. In this regard, the family-run company, which is able to look back on a tradition of more than 30 years, is presenting a new occupancy detector for DSI and DALI-BUS systems that means it now covers the full bandwidth of networked light-control systems with its range. The new digital detector is the successor to the analogue dimming occupancy detector and permits users to control both either DSI or DALI electronic ballast systems. Modes may be selected with the remote control s keypad. DALI system permits groups to be created for up to 50 DALI electronic ballast systems thus making it suitable for small rooms and offices. A DUO-DALI device is also available for independently controlling two lighting zones. Even the power supply is integrated in the DSI/DALI occupancy detector. In conjunction with the occupancy detector application programme 4.0, the KNX version delivers increased KNX functions. The KNX occupancy detectors are all-round devices, for instance it can be used for switching and dimming the lighting. The devices are equipped with outputs to control heating / air conditioning and ventilation. Thus, the KNX occupancy detectors are optimized for room automation in a KNX system to save energy and provide a high level of interior comfort. With its wireless radio range, B.E.G. also offers an ideal and flexible solution for modernizing electrical installations and saving time and costs that are quick to install without dirt, dust and complicated cabling work. The modular B.E.G. wireless system sends commands up to distances of 25 metres through doors, walls and windows. The fact that cables aren t required means that the system is highly suited for renovations and retrofitting work. The B.E.G. wireless indoor and outdoor motion detectors transmit occupancy- and daylight-dependent radio signals to radio switch actuators, radio plug socket adapters or radio power receivers. The connected loads (lamps or heating, air-conditioning, ventilation) are switched by one of these radio receiver modules. The practical B.E.G. LUXOMAT hand transmitter is a special accessory. It is both a remote control and wall switch. The remote control insert may simply be removed from the wall frame for mobile use. Besides the complete networked occupancy-detection range for KNX, LON, DSI and DALI networks, the programme also includes standard products for dimming and switching with presence and daylight sensors. Almost all types are available as a 360 detector for surface, ceiling and concealed installation as well as a version with a 180 detection range for wall assembly.

PRESS RELEASE P2 Under the motto, Energy savings, security and comfort, B.E.G. supplies occupancy detectors for almost any professional lighting-control application, e.g. in schools, sports halls, department stores, warehouses, office blocks, corridors, public baths, museums and staircases. One of the strengths of this company based in Lindlar (near Gummersbach) is how it is able to efficiently and rapidly respond to special customer requests. With over thirty years at experience, B.E.G. s competence on the occupancy- and motion-detector sector and increasingly satisfies the practical and economic demands made by planners, technicians and users.

PRESS RELEASE P3 Lindlar, 09 January 2012 From B.E.G., the pioneer in motion detectors The RC-plus next series of remote control motion detectors The successor to the legendary RC-plus has now been launched. With three detection ranges (130, 230, 280 ) and a system that prevents people from crawling under it and recognition of the area in the rear, the RC-plus next is able to cover all practical applications. The swivelling spherical optical sensor permits the motion detector to be adapted to the room geometry in the best way possible. The detection ranges may also be easily and infinitely adjusted with a screwdriver. And the supplied covering lamella allow areas not to be illuminated, e.g. neighbouring properties and nearby roads, to be easily blocked out. Thanks to its computerized lens structure, the RC-plus next delivers even greater detection quality than its predecessor. Each detection range now has its own LED, which significantly simplifies the walk test. As previously, all parameters and 17 different programs may be configured using the B.E.G. remote control. For example, these include an alarm function and allow the RC-plus next to be used as a twilight switch. And the automatic setting of the twilight value makes things considerably easier for the electrician. A pre-configured works programme has also been installed so that the device is ready for immediate use. The dynamic follow-on time setting to save energy costs and protect the environment is new to motion detectors. The RC-plus next is the only detector whose socket is compatible from source with the RC-plus. It is available in the four familiar colours: white, brown, black and stainless steel/silver.

PRESS RELEASE P4 Lindlar, 10 January 2012 NEW from B.E.G., the pioneer in motion detectors The AL20 automatic system lamp with all-round decorative light The new LUXOMAT AL20 automatic lamp system is a 280 outdoor lamp with 360 protection that prevents people from crawling under it and monitors the area behind it. The automatic lamp is remotely controlled and possesses an additional secondary LED light ring that can be switched on additionally via the remote control. It may also be used for orientation, to illuminate house numbers and as a decorative lamp. The decorative lamp will automatically switch on in the evening twilight and switch off in the morning. The desired detection range may be easily reduced by using the supplied covering lamella. Which means that areas that do not need to be illuminated, e.g. neighbouring properties and nearby roads, can be blocked out. The integrated 280 motion detector also possesses a 360 protection that prevents people from crawling under it and monitors the area behind it for total coverage. The RC-AL20 remote control permits electricians to comfortably set all parameters without having to climb ladders. The infinitely adjustable dimming, range and follow-on time settings considerably reduce workloads for electricians. The supplied RC-AL20 remote control is both for electricians and end users and provides such practical functions as Light On and Test. The single-handed plug socket with double cable inlet allows simple and rapid assembly. Additional lamps may be connected to the AL20. The AL20 lamp consists of a bottom section in white (RAL9010), stainless-steel colour (RAL 9006) or black. It may be combined with 19 different system shades and thus adapted to the respective architectural style. The optional corner socket, also in white, black or stainless-steel colour, allows the lamp to be fitted to outer corners for monitoring two sides of buildings.

PRESS RELEASE P5 Lindlar, 18 November 2011 NEW from B.E.G., the pioneer in motion detectors Radar-motion detectors and automatic lights save energy and money automatically Some areas hardly allow or do not allow the use of passive infrared motion detectors, e.g. if there is no direct visual contact to the person to be detected. The new high frequency motion detectors and automatic lights from B.E.G. are a perfect solution in these situations. In the same way, the sound of a passing car (fire engine or police car) changes due to Doppler effect, movements in the HF-area are also detected with the help of the Doppler effect. Particularly in the case of a frontal approach, for which infrared detectors are not sensitive enough, HF technology demonstrates its strongest feature. Moreover, HF technique reacts to the slightest movements in a temperature-independent manner. The new B.E.G. high frequency motion detector LUXOMAT HF-MD1 switches lights without being visible. Almost the same frequency ranges as those for W-LAN are used. Radar radiation is at one hundredth of those emitted by a wireless phone or mobile phone. The extreme short activation time as well as the setting of the twilight value, the range and the switch-off delay are an interesting alternative to passive infrared detectors. With its 360 detection angle, the LUXOMAT HF-MD1 has no optical limits. Hence, it is particularly suitable for following applications: e.g. bathrooms, corridors, cellar, staircases or garages. The B.E.G. HF automatic light HF-L1 keeps its original design thanks to the integrated HF-motion detector, which is neutral in design. Installation of ceiling or wall lights is as easy and swift as with classic lights. The Radar Motion detector and LAMp Program BY B.E.G. PRESS RELEASE P6 Lindlar, 17 January 2012 B.E.G. VIDEOLUX SMS-Control SC1 Your worldwide switch and control centre With B.E.G. s new VIDEOLUX SMS-Control SC1, it is possible to activate or deactivate a maximum of two devices independently of each other from anywhere in the world. For example, an SMS is sufficient to control the heating or watering at the holiday home or even air-conditioning systems! This requires two potential-free relays with up to 10 A breaking capacity. Each control action is also acknowledged by an SMS. It is even possible to carry out free-of-charge switching activities solely by the identification of specified mobile phone numbers, e.g. opening the garage door with the car phone. Otherwise a PIN is used for authentication. Monitoring information may be easily and reliably sent by SMS to the user s mobile phone anywhere in the world, e.g. information about the opening and closing of a main entrance, about entrance controls and even fire monitoring in buildings. To this end, the SC1 comes with four digital inputs (opto-electronic couplers) and may so for example be connected to the fire alarm or other alarm systems. Even information about malfunctions in the heating or other systems may be immediately dispatched to users wherever they may happen to be. Such freely configurable text messages may be sent to ten individually specified mobile phone numbers. The SC1 is configured by SMS or the free and easy-to-use PC software, which only requires a Windows computer and a USB port. The system is protected by password against unauthorized access. It may even be used with a prepaid SIM card from any mobile phone provider. Thanks to its quad-band modem, the system may be used internationally. And its firmware may be updated thus allowing additional features to be used.

PRESS RELEASE P7 Lindlar, 17 October 2011 B.E.G. connection box and extension box modules The safe, fast and cost-cutting way of linking up systems The B.E.G. connection boxes and extension boxes are innovative solutions for the installation market in situations where B.E.G. occupancy detectors are used in suspended ceilings to cut installation costs. Our modules link up motion and light in a way which ensures increased energy efficiency. The so-called connection boxes and extension boxes can be installed with ease, in a cost-saving and accurate manner. There s no limit to their use and they offer scope for flexible extensions. They are particularly attractive for conference rooms, schools, nurseries, warehouses, corridors, WC systems and large offices. Thanks to the modular concept, changes can be easily made both during installation and later when modifying use. Alternatively, all B.E.G. occupancy detectors are also available as pre-wired versions. The fast pre-wired system is based on an assembly concept using plug & play components, which are connected according to a predefined diagram. This system guarantees an accurate connection without the risk of phase inversion, for example, and provides the installation with maximum security. It is taking the place of traditional connection technologies, resulting in considerable shorter installation times and a reduction in costs of up to 40 % for material and up to 60 % for wages and material. It is also possible for individuals without specialist training to install the pre-wired system plug and play reliably and with ease, as colour-coded connectors are used to prevent the poles from being reversed. Using the fast connection means that the installation is very modular and flexible in terms of development and scope for extending the wiring in the building. The fast prewired system is also suited to work involving adjusting all the electrical connections in the building that are installed in ceilings. Lights, occupancy detectors and connection boxes can now be very easily connected with one another at great speed through the use of pre-assembled extension cables of various lengths, fitted with corresponding plugs and bushes. In addition to these benefits, you ll also be impressed by the concept s simplicity, performance and speed of commissioning. Nine boxes with different colour codes are available for various B.E.G. occupancy detector types for switching and dimming and for one channel, master and slave devices. They are also available for DUO and DIM devices. The new 8-way connection box M1/3/3/1 for three lights, three B.E.G. occupancy detectors and one power input and one power output open up further potential use for even greater flexibility in WC systems, offices, bar restaurants, schools, engineering rooms and changing cubicles for example. Fast, safe, accurate with the B.E.G. connection and extension boxes there s no limit to how you can flexibly expand our B.E.G. occupancy detectors.

TRIO detectors are available in both flush-mount and ceiling-mount versions.

PRESS RELEASE P11 Lindlar, 21 October 2011 B.E.G. s smallest detector The easy way to save energy with the tiny PD9-DIGI occupancy detector Extremely small, highly manageable and unobtrusive, the new LUXOMAT PD9-DIGI from B.E.G. was developed especially for fitting directly in the outer ring of floodlights fitted in ceilings and other light fittings. With a diameter of just 11mm, it is very small and compact. The integrated factory program means the detector is ready for use straight away. The overrun time can be set manually on the relevant power unit using a potentiometer. The motion-controlled LUXOMAT PD9-DIGI detector has a circular detection area of around 5 m in diameter. When fitted in lights, the visible part of the detector has a size of just 11 x 3 mm. Alongside this special detector, B.E.G. also supplies a range of PD9 mini occupancy detectors with an outer dimension of just 25 mm (sensor). Despite their tiny dimensions, they contain a powerful relay for switching high lamp outputs. The mini occupancy detectors have a 360 detection range and 10 m diameter. They are a special version with spring-clamps for quick and easy installation in lights or suspended ceilings. The detectors are easy to install thanks to the simple way the sensor and power sections are connected using an RJ11 plug and the enhanced lateral cable outlet on the sensor head. Cover rings are also available in three different colours (black, white, stainless steel look). In addition to the fully networked occupancy detector range for KNX, LON, DSI and DALI-BUS networks, the PD9 range also includes standard products for dimming and switching with occupancy and daylight measurement. A mini occupancy detector (LUXOMAT PD9-M-SDB) in IP65 design with electrical isolation for wet rooms, such as bathrooms or shower cabinets, is also available. All PD9 mini occupancy detectors are also available in a version designed especially for use at heights of up to 10 m, such as in high-bay storage areas. For example at a height of 9 m, these PD9-GH detectors have a definable detection range of around just 5.40 m in diameter. Special blinds for the PD9-GH detector can be used to limit the detection range to just 180 to eliminate sources of interference or remove unnecessary areas from the motion detection range.

It is B.E.G. s aim to offer individual and highly functional KNX solutions for a broad range of application areas, including offices, hallways, gymnasiums, living areas and so on. The KNX series has thus been extended by additional products that may be used to control lamps in conjunction with KNX presence detectors. Among other things, switching actuators, 1-10 V dimming actuators and DALI/KNX gateways have been introduced for controlling all types of lamps usually employed in private and commercial properties. It is also possible to measure currents with the switching actuators so that actual consumption may be measured in kw/h and operating-hour-based information about maintenance intervals may be sent. Error messages transmitted from lamps connected to the DALI/KNX gateway mean that the devices can be integrated into building-management systems thus enabling the easy monitoring of entire buildings from a single location. The new actuators interaction with the tried-and-tested KNX presence detectors delivers great energy savings to benefit both budgets and the environment. Blinds and shutters are also important factors in interior lighting-control concepts and so actuators for blinds and shutters are also available that allow the optimum use of natural light. The perfect combination of the individual components can help prevent reflections on computer IP devices Motion and occupancy detectors System devices screens while utilising as much daylight as possible which helps sustain the room occupants ability to perform. A KNX bus voltage supply is necessary if all KNX components are to be used. This has also been realised in two versions in the KNX product monitors B.E.G. Actuators portfolio. PRESS RELEASE P13 SMARTHOME installation does not require any additional bus cables to be laid because the necessary data is transferred wirelessly or over the existing 230 volt network (power line). It also does not need any additional software to operate and actuators and sensors possessing radio interfaces may be connected with each other at the touch of a button. The system automatically recognises power-line devices, which can then be integrated into the wireless system using the display control. So even greater distances can be bridged without the need for additional repeaters which means that SMARTHOME delivers maximum flexibility for all applications. Although all the actuators with wireless interfaces are automatically incorporated as repeaters into the network so that the system is even able to operate over greater distances, special repeaters with programmed intelligent links are also available. The new system also allows separate SMARTHOME networks to be set up inside buildings, which is particularly useful for apartment buildings as separate networks ensure that no outsiders can take over of other occupants controls. Energy efficiency safety with fire comfort... with emetering Alarm display via radio 868 MHz Mobile touchscreen monitor The SMARTHOME system s functions can be monitored and controlled with the MyControl mobile operating unit. The handy device connects wirelessly to the entire system. The clear interface may be used to switch devices and display information e.g. energy consumptions and the status of smoke alarms on a 3.5 touchscreen. The MyControl unit also comes with an integrated weekly timer function whose easy-to-use interface allows four switching times to be assigned to each actuator in a daily or weekly schedule. Also, thanks to an additional wireless interface, the new VDS-approved SD2 smoke alarm can be connected to other smoke alarms whose status can then be presented visually on the MyControl unit. MyControl regularly checks the status of the smoke alarms and will signal any problems (empty batteries, for instance). It can also help users locate the sources of any alarms as it indicates in which rooms the particular devices have been installed. This is particularly practical as it helps avoid time-consuming searches. The combination of the SD2-RF and MyControl provides high levels of safety and comfort for users. The SD2-RF smoke detector does not only convince with its inner values, the attractive design also means that it will integrate itself into any environment. B.E.G. is launch its new system with the introduction of a Starter Set, which includes the MyControl unit and two SD2-RF smoke alarms.

PRESS RELEASE P13 SMARTHOME actuators are available in concealed, surface-mounted (outdoor and indoor), cap-rail and plug-socket versions. All actuators are available for wireless and power-line installation. SMARTHOME also has an integrated metering function, which allows a building s total consumption or that of individual circuits e.g. individual consumers to be displayed over time. The so-called energy traffic lights will create individual profiles for buildings and will warn users when consumption increases to higher than normal levels. The values thus collected may then be transferred from the MyControl to a PC using an SD card so that detailed assessments may be prepared with spreadsheet software. Temperatures may be controlled with the available TRV2-ZW wireless heater control element, which may if a motion detector is also employed also be used to extend programmed heating times when the detectors sense that rooms are occupied. It is also possible to integrate a wireless window contact. The complete logic is already programmed in the system.

PRESS RELEASE P15 Lindlar, 15 March 2012 DALI and KNX Connecting two worlds with the intelligent, clear and compact interface from B.E.G. In order to structure the light management in larger projects in particular, it is advisable to connect the DALI network to the EIB via DALI/ KNX gateways. The DALI/KNX gateways from B.E.G. combine the cross-element KNX installation BUS with the DALI-BUS designed purely for lighting control. This creates a bridge between two systems and allows settings to be made quickly and reliably with the objective in mind. Reasonably priced digital EBs with DALI interface can therefore be integrated as subsystems in a KNX overall system and operated via a wide range of available KNX devices. The advantages of the DALI technology include easy commissioning and group assignment, as well as the option of changing the configuration without changing the wiring. Diverse illuminants are supported. The dimming curve corresponds to human sensitivities. It is possible to dim several devices simultaneously. The brightness level is identical for all lamps of identical design. Lights and EB fault statistics are reported. In addition, operating hours and switching cycles can be recorded individually. Modern functions of the convenient KNX control, such as brightness values or fault messages from the DALI devices, can therefore be recorded and sent to KNX where they are directly visualised and evaluated. With the DALI/KNX Gateways from B.E.G., up to 64 EBs be switched or dimmed in 16 groups At the same time, the devices serve as masters and a voltage supply for the connected EBs. The device can be fully commissioned via the integrated displays and operating buttons or the software tool. Alternatively, B.E.G. also provides the KNX/DALI Gateway 2 IP with an RJ-45 interface, enabling the device to be connected to an existing IP network. The integrated Web server then allows easy DALI commissioning via any Web server. The range of DALI/KNX Gateways from B.E.G. DALI/KNX Gateway 1 DALI/KNX Gateway 2 IP

PRESS RELEASE P17 Lindlar, 29 September 2011 Energy efficient security FL2-LED, the new warm-white LED spotlight range from B.E.G., is the latest addition to the company s comprehensive range of energy-saving products. PRESS RELEASE P18 Lindlar, 06 December 2011 Universal occupancy detector The tried-and-tested occupancy detectors by B.E.G. with one or two switching channels now come with even more functionality. The new generation is recognisable by its additional DIP switches supplementing the brightness and time potentiometers that allow all important settings to be made directly on the unit. The detectors operating status is indicated by three LEDs, which may, however, also be switched off if they are felt to be intrusive. The benefit of the full range of functions may be utilised with the new optional IR-PD-1C or IR-PD-2C remote controls as all B.E.G. detectors come with the corresponding remote-control interfaces. The detectors sensitivity can be adapted along with the desired brightness to the respective installation locations. Such comfort features as the twelve-hour ON/OFF and corridor functions ensure that the detectors always respond as intended to any motion detected. A forced deactivation function for optional activation that will switch off the lights when there is sufficient daylight even in the event of manual interventions will help users save energy. The universal B.E.G. occupancy detectors are available in the PD2-M and PD4-M series with up to 24 metres detection range.

PRESS RELEASE P19 Lindlar, 06 December 2011 B.E.G. bidirectional energy measurement B.E.G. s Smarthome is a wireless- and power-line-based bus system that is ideally suited for later fitting in existing systems as it does not require additional cables to be installed. The Smarthome system centres around the MyControl monitoring and control unit. When used in conjunction with the ME-UV-ZW distributor energy-measuring system, it is able to display and graphically present consumption values. The consumption data, which is recorded on an SD card, may be transferred to PCs for extensive processing and assessments. Conventional consumption measurements and trend measurements may, for example, be carried out with the latter providing a traffic-light system that enables separate profiles and average consumptions to be created for individual buildings so that fluctuations can be quickly and easily presented in the shape of a traffic-light system using the colours red, amber and green. All that the ME-UV-ZW requires is a meter with an S0 interface. Energy measurement Mycontrol
