recommendations for sports halls Sport Linoleum floor coverings With Linodur Sport or Colorette Sport and Nature (Linea) Sport, you have a sports surface covering that has excellent functional sports and protection properties and is able to withstand very high levels of stress. Sport linoleum floor coverings are supplied without a factory finish. Consequently, following installation and addition of the markings on the playing area, a care treatment or sealing must be carried out in order to protect the floor covering. If no care treatment is used on these floor coverings, or inadequate treatment is used, this will result in higher wear and possible discolouration. Dirt, particularly gritty particles, intensifies the abrasive action on the surface of the floor covering and may result in the surface becoming slippery. Consequently, the above-mentioned DLW linoleum sport floor coverings should be cleaned and treated with a floor care product for hygienic reasons and to preserve their value. Particularly in the case of sports floor coverings, the requirements of DIN V 18032-2 or DIN EN 14904 and DIN 77400 must be taken into account. If the following maintenance steps are observed, it is easy to take care of our sports linoleum products. In principle, when selecting the cleaning and care products, care must be taken to ensure that only products with a maximum ph value of 9 are used, as products that are too strongly alkaline-aggressive can attack the natural raw materials of the linoleum and destroy the floor covering. When cleaning sports linoleum floor coverings, a distinction is made between: 1.) Cleaning after completion of the construction work 2.) Care treatment 3.) Regular cleaning and 4.) Thorough cleaning 1.) Cleaning after completion of the construction work The cleaning after completion of the construction work is carried out before the transfer of use. Firstly, the coarse dirt must be removed by sweeping and vacuuming. Next, a suitable basic cleaner, diluted with water, is applied to sections (observe maximum ph value of 9.0). After a few minutes of treatment time, the dirt is loosened by means of gentle mechanical working with a single-disc machine and a 3M cleaning pad (the colour of the cleaning pad depends on the type of contamination, maximum green 3M cleaning pad), and then picked up with the wet vacuum cleaner. D-74321 Bietigheim-Bissingen, E-mail: service_germany@dlwflooring.com

As an alternative to the single-disc machine and wet vacuum cleaner, a suitable cleaning machine can be used for cleaning after completion of the construction work (due to its dead weight including the cleaning solution, the cleaning machine must be suitable for the substrate design in question). Before the subsequent care treatment can be applied, the whole surface of the floor covering must be rinsed/neutralised with clean water and fully dried (at least 12-24 hours depending on the climate in the room). 2.) Care treatment Prior to first use and after each thorough cleaning, the floor covering must be treated with a suitable water-soluble care product. The selection of the water-soluble care product and the dosage takes place in line with the manufacturer s instructions. It must be ensured that the water-soluble care product is applied evenly to the dry linoleum floor covering using a mop. If the DLW Sport Linoleum is subsequently sealed with a PUR seal, our cleaning and care instructions are no longer applicable. Whichever products are used for care treatment/regular cleaning, these must satisfy the requirements of DIN 18 032 for sports floors. 3.) Regular cleaning In accordance with DIN 77400, regular cleaning and maintenance must take place at least once every working day. As part of this process, dirt that is adhering to the floor covering must be removed daily, as must non-adhesive dirt. For regular cleaning and maintenance, the same water-soluble care product that was used for the care treatment is used for damp mopping. The water-soluble care product is diluted with water in line with the manufacturer s instructions. It must be ensured that the whole area is evenly wetted and that the water-soluble care product solution can dry on the surface covering. In the first 3 weeks after the care treatment, we recommend a slightly higher concentration in order to build up a mopping care film. Experience shows that there is a relatively high level of dust formation in sports halls. Dust promotes the formation of slippery areas. To this extent, damp mopping is generally preferable to dry cleaning for better dust binding. If cleaning machines are used for regular cleaning, these must be suitable for the substrate design in question, due to their dead weight including cleaning solution. The vacuum device must be configured in line with the device manufacturer s instructions. D-74321 Bietigheim-Bissingen, E-mail: service_germany@dlwflooring.com

4.) Thorough cleaning Thorough cleaning operations must be carried out regularly in line with usage or in the case of very stubborn dirt/streaks or care treatment overlays. A basic cleaner that is suitable for linoleum floor coverings is diluted with water and applied to the surface of the floor covering. The ph value (maximum 9.0) and the treatment time according to the manufacturer must be taken into account here. The dirt is then loosened more easily with gentle mechanical working using a single or multi-disc machine with a cleaning pad (max. green 3M cleaning pad). The loosened dirt is vacuumed up with a wet vacuum cleaner. The thorough cleaning should be carried out in sections. Following completion of the thorough cleaning, the floor covering must be rinsed with clean water (neutralisation) until all residue of cleaning products has been removed. Once the floor covering is completely dry (12 24 hours depending on the climate in the room), a new care treatment is applied. Important information: Only 2 products are required: - A basic cleaner for cleaning after completion of the construction work and thorough cleaning - A water-soluble care product for care treatment and regular cleaning Manufacturers of cleaning and care products offer products that are tailored to one another. It is therefore recommended to use cleaning and care products made by one manufacturer. It must be noted that cleaning water must not penetrate into the device casings or the substructure. If the sports hall is not used for a relatively long period of time, the covers on the device casings must be removed and cleaned if necessary. In cases of particular contamination, such as with resins (adhesive agents), the manufacturer of the care product should be contacted. Sufficiently large dirt-trapping zones should be provided in the entrance areas. If adhesive tape is used on the floor covering, please contact the adhesive tape manufacturer in question for details of compatibility. Confetti, paper streamers or similar can also lead to discolouration of the linoleum, particularly with moisture or liquids. We recommend carrying out tests on the properties of such products prior to use, and executing cleaning tests. Coloured, especially black rubber can cause discolouration that can no longer be removed in the case of long-term contact with the floor covering. Casters made of polyurethane should be used to avoid such discolouration. If this is not possible, then it is advisable to use protector pads. D-74321 Bietigheim-Bissingen, E-mail: service_germany@dlwflooring.com

In order to avoid damage to floor coverings, care must be taken to ensure that the contact surfaces of chairs, desk (multi-purpose hall use) and sports equipment are not sharp-edged or abrasive. As with the linoleum floor covering itself, the gliders or casters should be cleaned regularly, checked for damage and replaced if necessary. products The wide range of cleaning and care products available means that we are not able to list all of the available products individually. A basic cleaner or a water-soluble care product must satisfy the following preconditions: - A maximum ph value of 9.0 - Proof of suitability for linoleum floor coverings - A test certificate in line with DIN 18032-2 or EN 14904. When handling the products, the product-specific manufacturers conditions should be observed, and where necessary the manufacturer of the product must be consulted. The manufacturers are responsible for the usability and compatibility of their products in each case. Manufacturers: products The manufacturers and products mentioned should be regarded as examples. Equivalent products from other manufacturers may also be used. The care products should be tested in accordance with DIN V 18032-2.
