Garbage Calendar ( Abfallkalender ) The Garbage Calendar is a summary of all the garbage collection dates and specifically what type of garbage will be collected on these days. The Calendar is delivered to households yearly or alternatively can be collected from the Abfallwirtschaft in Nagold or Bürgermeisterämter and Rathaus. The Garbage Calendar can also be downloaded from our homepage www.awginfo.de. The Calendar includes information about waste disposal, recycling and includes benefits such as discounted bulky waste ( Sperrmüll ) and discounted old wood ( Altholz ) collection with the use of the included postcard-sized Removal Card Abrufkarte. Fees and Charges The fees and charges are included in a combined yearly rate and a quantity-dependant accumulative charge. The yearly rate is determined by the number of people living in one household and how many of these have selected the household as their primary residence Hauptwohnsitz. This yearly rate covers costs such as collection of garbage bins, disposal of waste, handling dangerous wastes and maintaining infrastructure. The yearly fees and charges Page 1 of 5

for the emptying of household garbage and biological wastes are calculated for the beginning of the year for all households in the District of Calw. How these fees and charges are incurred is detailed below: Household Garbage Bins The quantity-dependant charge of household waste depends on: The size of the bin Frequency of emptying The yearly rate includes a charge for six garbage bin collections. Please note even if these six collections are not met these collections will be charged as a bare minimum and no refunds will be given. Any additional collection will attract further charges. An exception to this is one person households with the smallest bin size - they are able to apply for a reduced four minimum collection instead of the usual six. Biological Bins The eco-bin Biotonne charges are calculated only by the size of the bin. The cost stays the same regardless of the number of people living in a household or the frequency of emptying. Registration for Bins You should register for garbage disposal directly at your residents registration office ( Rathaus or Rathausgeschäftsstelle ) by filling out the associated registration form. When you have registered, you are able to order your bins via telephone over the advisory service (Details provided above). For the type of bins you can order and how to use them please read on for more details. Household Garbage Restabfall Household garbage bins range in volume from 60L, 120L and 240L and contain an electronic registration system so fees are correctly charged to the right household. Routine emptying occurs monthly, whereby customers wanting to have their garbage bins emptied, must place their full bins on the road side curb on the appropriate collection days. Please see Garbage Calendar for details. Businesses and households also have the possibility of ordering 660L and 1100L skips Großcontainern. In this case the emptying of such large containers can be coordinated with your own requirements. For information about skip Großcontainern fees and changes please contact us on Ph: 07452 6006 7085. Household waste includes nappies, sanitary products, household medical waste, medicines, cotton wool, Porcelain, Ceramics, light globes, vacuum bags, street rubbish, wall paper, toys, kitty litter, cigarette butts, cold ash etc. Biological Rubbish Bioabfall Biological garbage bins range in volume from 60L, 120L and 240L and contain an electronic registration system so fees are correctly charged to the right household. The biological garbage bins can be placed on the curb side for emptying every 14 days. Biological garbage includes kitchen waste such as food remains (Food from private households only No takeaway or restaurant food), coffee filters, Tea bags, egg cartons, garden wastes (such as grass, leaves, weeds and twigs), tissues, paper towels, serviettes, baking paper, dirtied paper bags (used for fruit, vegetables and baking good) and small animal waste (cage lining and bedding made of wood and paper only) Please do not place Kitty litter in the biological Page 2 of 5

Rubbish This belongs in the household garbage bin. Please note all biological garbage should be wrapped in newspaper before placing it in your bin. Only restaurants, cafes, canteens and takeaway businesses may dispose of raw fruit and vegetable waste in the biological garbage bins. You are encouraged to use a composting bin Speiserestetonne. Paper, Glass, Metal Packaging and Combination Material The green bin Wertstofftonne should be used for potentially recyclable paper and glass. Every household is entitled to one free green bin and is able to have a maximum of three. However every additional bin incurs a one-off fee. Green bins must only be filled with either paper or glass, but not both. It is ok to swap from one to the other once the green bin has been emptied but please do not mix paper and glass together in the same green bin. The green bin is emptied every two months. Glass can also be recycled in your Cities Deposit Facility Orts- Depotcontainer or as an alternative it is possible to bring glass and paper to the recycling centres Recyclinghöfe. These are all free services. Old paper includes items such as newspapers, illustrations, advertising, catalogs, cartons, cardboard, writing paper, envelopes and the like. Old glass includes one-way glass bottles, conserve jars and jam jars plus metals such as tin cans, lids, aluminium foil, screw tops, bottle cap and crown tops. Packing out of Plastic and Combination Material Packaging out of plastic and combination material can be collected in yellow plastic bags Gelber Sack or in a yellow bin Gelbe Tonne. Please note the contents of all these items must be empty. Bulky Waste Sperrmüll Bulky waste can be disposed of through the use of the Removal Card Abrufkarte, whereby the bulky waste can be collected via appointment arrangement. Every Garbage Calendar Abfallkalender contains one of these cards. Every Removal Card includes charges covering the removal of three cubic metres. The collection should follow within four weeks after you ve arranged your order. For additional charges it can be collected within three working days but please note this can only be arranged over the telephone. Old Clothes Altkleider Old clothes are able to be disposed of at the Recycling Centres or through permanent old clothes collection containers organised by the AWG Abfallwirtschaft Landkreis Calw GmbH at many townships. Recycling Centres Recyclinghöfe In the District of Calw there are eight Recycling Centres. These centres accept more than thirty different potentially recyclable materials (For example wood, paper, metal, hard plastic, cooking fat, old tires, garden waste, window glass, natural stone etc). Many of these recyclable materials can be delivered to the Centres without incurring costs. The opening hours can be located from the Advisory Services, Garbage Calendar or on our website: www.awg-info.de Clearing Out Service Entrümpelung By working together with Erlacher Höhe it is possible to clear out your home or a particular room. There is a standard service where clearing occurs within four weeks or an express service whereby clearing occurs within a day. If you are interested in receiving a referral to this service please contact us on Ph: 0800 30 30 839. For those that are unaware Erlacher Höhe is an organisation that provides employment for people in poverty or with social adversity. Second Hand goods maintained in Excellent Condition Gut erhaltene Gebrauchtwaren Any second hand goods that have been maintained in excellent condition can be delivered to the Erlacher Höhe Calw or alternatively can be collected for a fee. If you would like further information please contact us on Ph: 0800 30 30 839. Things to Take Notice of When Moving Houses Beachtenswertes beim Umzug Your bins can be taken with you when you move within the District of Calw. Please inform the Administration about your move so your Chip number can be updated to your new household. You can update your address by filling out the Mitnahme von Tonnen bei Umzug Form that is available from your Rathaus or Bürgermeisteramt. If you are unable to take your bins with you then please leave them at your old household and register yourself in your new city and district. This will block your old address and we will then proceed to collect your old bins. This is why it is very important to change your address at the Einwohnermeldeamt as soon as possible to insure you do not incur charges for someone else using your bin. This above process is automatic once you have changed address to another District other than Calw. If you are staying in the District of Calw then you must fill out the Mitnahme von Tonnen bei Umzug Form. What do you do with your bins if you don t want to move them? 1. The Household garbage bin and Biological garbage bin need to be place out of the front of your old home for collection once you have changed address, 2. The Yellow and Green bins should be left at your old household. Page 5 of 5
