Page 3 of 7 of the General Technical Approval No. Z-56.217-3567 dated 6 November 2012 1 Approval Object and Scope of Application II. SPECIAL TERMS 1.1 Approval Object The certification object applies to the usage of the flame-retardant construction material (building material class DIN 4102-B1 1 ) produced in accordance with the General Building Inspection Certificate No. Z-19.11-396 dated 30 November 2011 and foams under the influence of fire. The construction material is called BC-Brandschutz KVB cable bandage ( BC Brandschutz-Bandage KVB ), herein referred to as fire protection textile, and is used as a sheathing for electrical lines (cables) or line systems (cable systems) as per section 1.2.2 below. For the electrical lines (cables) or line systems (cable systems) featuring such fire protection textile sheathing it has been proved within the framework of this General Technical Approval that: a) the requirements concerning flame-retardant construction materials (building material class DIN 4102-B1 1 ) are met when the construction material is exposed to an external fire or b) the emergence of a fire is hindered and the fire is prevented from travelling and spreading if the electrical lines (cables) or line systems (cable systems) have been subject to auto-ignition due to a short-circuit or due to overheating. However, this General Technical Approval does not constitute any evidence for simultaneous stress (external fire and auto-ignition). 1.2 Scope of Application 1.2.1 Taking building regulations into consideration, applications have been proved with this General Technical Approval for which a) flame-retardant construction materials (building material class DIN 4102-B1 1 ) are required The lines and line systems wrapped with the fire protection textile do not meet the requirements for cables with improved fire behavior. Therefore, such lines and line systems must not be used in areas where only minor smoke emission is permissible due to building regulations. or b) the emergence of a fire as well as the travelling and spreading of a fire via electric lines (cables) or line systems (cable systems) in the case of auto-ignition due to short-circuit or overheating has to be hindered or prevented respectively. Taking the flame retardant properties (building material class DIN 4102-B1 1 ) of the fire protection textile into consideration as per the General Technical Approval No. Z 19.11-396, the permissibility of the utilization for electrical lines or line systems in escape routes is to be decided by the appropriate building supervisory board, e.g. in connection with the fire protection concept. 1.2.2 The fire protection textile, type BC-Brandschutz KVB cable bandage, may be used for the wrapping of vertically, horizontally, or slantingly installed or arranged single cables 2, cable bundles, and cables or cable bundles on noncombustible cable trays or cable ladders (building material class DIN 4102-A 1 or class A1 and A2-s1,do as per DIN EN 13501-1 3.
