TURN END TRUST Upcoming Events in Turn End Garden Townside, Haddenham, Bucks HP17 8BG Hidden away in the heart of Haddenham, Turn End Garden is an intriguing series of different rooms, each with a distinctive character and planting style, framed by traditional wychert walls, a Victorian coach house and mature trees. The garden has been created over the past 50 years by architect Peter Aldington alongside his own award winning family home. In just over half an acre, space is used to create an illusion of size. The garden includes courtyards with pools, a curved lawn and shaded glades, sunken gardens, a dry garden, a small woodland area with spring bulbs, a bedding display with box hedging and an ericaceous garden. Turn End Trust is pleased to announce a series of events taking place in the garden during 2014. Please note: Booking for all events opens on April 10 th booking form enclosed below. Seasonal Walks Enjoy a leisurely stroll through Turn End Garden in the company of Jackie Hunt, Turn End s gardener, exploring what the garden has to offer at different seasons of the year. Jackie will be highlighting aspects of the garden that are of special seasonal interest and explaining what she does to maintain the garden at that time of year. Clothing and footwear suitable for all weather conditions recommended. Creative Paper Making with Jean Mould Hart Monday 1 st September 10:00 16:00 Tuesday 2 nd September 10:00 16:00 This workshop introduces the exciting potential of making your own paper. From a variety of fibres, including plants from Turn End garden, a portfolio of beautiful sheets will be achieved, from plain and delicate, decorative, embossed and textured. As the sheet forming process will be covered each morning with the creative aspect developing over the rest of the day, it is possible to take both workshops or just one. Suitable for the beginner and the experienced. 45.00. Max 6 participants Reservations in advance: turnendtrustevents@gmail.com Concertinas as Containers with Heather Hunter Thursday 9 th October 10:00 16:00 Sunday 12 th October 10:00 16:00 In this workshop we will be making different concertina structures. The concertina as a container is an ideal book structure to house and present small keepsakes or collectibles, very versatile, and adaptable with possible pockets, flaps and envelopes. On completion of the day course several mock-ups and one complete book will be made. 45.00 Max 5 participants Reservations in advance: turnendtrustevents@gmail.com About the artists: Heather Hunter: artist-in-residence at Turn End Garden, graduate in Visual Studies from Oxford Brookes University, teacher for most of her working life. Heather s art form is artists' books; these involve all forms of printing, binding and paper engineering. Her books have won prizes in the USA and the Birgit Skiold prize at the London Artists Book Fair 2007; her unique books are in private collections and libraries throughout the world. www.hunterbooks.co.uk Jean Mould Hart initially trained in fine art textiles at Goldsmiths College where she developed an interest in papermaking. She has taught for many years with work exhibited and collected widely here and abroad. The versatility of making one s own paper crosses the boundaries of many art/craft disciplines and Jean's work, having moved into the area of artists' books still reflects her love of the tactile in mixed media book structures and collage. Gardening Workshops Join horticulturist, Lindsay Engers, and Turn End s gardener, Jackie Hunt, in practical workshops that focus on specific gardening skills. Both workshops are suitable for novice gardeners and for those with a little gardening experience hoping to expand their knowledge. Drinks provided.
