SBEC Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Programs for New Homes There are several energy efficiency measures that you can incorporate into your new home during the building process to help reduce the energy consumption. SBEC wants to help; we have several rebate programs that can help you reduce your energy consumption. SBEC is offering the Residential Energy Efficiency Rebate Programs for New Homes. Be sure to consult your contractor or SBEC s Member Services Representative to determine which measure would have the most benefit on your energy consumption. Rebates for the programs start on January 1, 2016 and run through December 31, 2016 or while funds are available. Once funds budgeted for the rebate program are exhausted the program stops. 2016 Residential Energy Efficiency Program HVAC (Heating, Ventilation & Air Conditioning Systems) Rebates Of: $400.00 PER UNIT - HEAT PUMP 15 SEER OR HIGHER $300.00 PER UNIT - A/C WITH GAS HEAT 15 SEER OR HIGHER $50.00 PER HOUSE - HVAC DEALER REBATE PROGRAM PROCEDURES & REQUIREMENTS: Minimum 15 SEER system. Only SBEC residential customers are eligible for rebates on existing and new homes. HVAC contractor or member must notify SBEC that a qualifying installation has been completed by sending SBEC the completed application and worksheet. To receive the rebate: Attach an itemized and dated invoice from the contractor or retailer along with your completed rebate forms including the appropriate HVAC dealer and homeowner signature. When the completed forms are received by SBEC, project may be inspected by SBEC. Applications must be received within 90 days of project completion. After all program requirements are met, a rebate in the form of a bill credit will be issued to the member s account. Please allow 8 to 10 weeks after receipt of all documents for the program bill credit to appear. Electronic thermostat must be installed (if not already existing). Unit must be a NEW matching system certified by ARI. Both condensing unit and air handler/evaporator coil must be replaced. Air distribution system (supply, return, plenum, and cabinet closet) must be sealed or repaired according to manufacturer s recommended installation practices and current code requirements. Current Manual J Cooling load calculation must be completed for new installations. Must be installed by a contractor with a current TACL license. Window units and central air-conditioners with electric resistance heat as a primary heating source are not eligible. SBEC reserves the right to make changes to the program without notice. In no way does SBEC assume responsibility for the work completed by contractors listed on the SBEC contractors list. SBEC reserves the right to verify all projects in order to meet minimum program guidelines. The member may lose the rebate if SBEC cannot verify the information provided on the application form. Unlisted systems must be accompanied by engineering certification signed by a registered professional engineer or an officer of the manufacturer representative. Submission of application does not guarantee a rebate, funding for the program is limited. Once funds budgeted for the rebate program are exhausted the program stops. 2016 Residential Energy Efficiency Program Energy Star Appliances Rebates Of: $50.00 PER APPLIANCE / MAXIMUM $250.00 REBATE PER YEAR PROGRAM PROCEDURES & REQUIREMENTS: Rebate only applies to Energy Star rated appliances. Only SBEC residential customers are eligible for rebates on existing and new homes. Appliances include: HVAC Window Units, Refrigerator, Freezer, Clothes Washer, and Dishwasher. All appliances must be new and installed within SBEC service area. s installation procedures must be followed. Appliances must be purchased after January 01, 2016 and before December 31, 2016 to be eligible for 2016 rebate. Applications must be received within 90 days of installation of Energy Star appliances. To receive the rebate: Attach an itemized and dated invoice from the retailer (including date, retailers name, product description and price), Energy Star logo from packaging with the completed Energy Star Appliance Application. After all program requirements are met, a rebate in the form of a bill credit will be issued to the member s account. Please allow 8 to 10 weeks after receipt of all documents for the program bill credit to appear. SBEC reserves the right to verify all projects in order to meet minimum program guidelines. 2016 Residential Energy Efficiency Program Electric Heat Pump Water Heaters Rebates Of: $300.00 PER ELECTRIC HEAT PUMP WATER HEATER PROGRAM PROCEDURES & REQUIREMENTS: Rebate available for new or existing home installations. Rebate is based on the Energy Factor (EF) of equal to or greater than 2.0. Rebate only applies to Energy Star Rated Electric Heat Pump Water Heaters. All water heaters must be new and installed within SBEC service area. s installation procedures must be followed. State and local codes must be followed. Water heater must be 30 gallon or larger. Applications must be received within 90 days of installation of water heater. To receive the rebate: Attach an itemized and dated invoice from the retailer (including EF rating) with the completed Water Heater Application. After all program requirements are met, a rebate in the form of a bill credit will be issued to the member s account.
