Choosing these select members out of such an amazing group is difficult says Eric Demaree, President of Carpet One Floor & Home. But we feel it is important to recognize those that go above and beyond in representing the Carpet One Floor & Home cooperative. Awards were presented in the following categories: ALAN GREENBERG AWARD John & Beth Hughes - O Brien s Carpet One Floor & Home Colorado Springs, CO This award recognizes the member who most embodies the Carpet One Floor & Home spirit and who best represents what CCA Global Partners co-founder, Alan Greenberg, stood for. It is based on overall participation in programs, contributions to the cooperative, and support of fellow members during the previous year. This year s Alan Greenberg Award winners have been dedicated to supporting the Carpet One Floor & Home brand, said Eric Demaree, President of Carpet One Floor & Home. They are currently converting their main location into a beautiful Destination store. O Brien s Carpet One Floor & Home also represents the Carpet One Floor & Home name through their dedication to their community. They have been passionately involved with the Colorado Springs Down Syndrome Association and their Buddy Walk for 16 years. John also serves on the board for the Cheyenne Village Non-Profit Organization that serves adults with developmental disabilities. They support Catholic Charities and the Marion House where they recently sponsored a day at the soup kitchen to provide hot Spokespeople Eric Demaree President Scott Wheeler Chief Operations Officer Jim Aaron Vice President, Merchandising
meals for those who needed them. O Brien s Carpet One Floor & Home was recently named the 2016 Family- Owned Business of the year by the Southern Colorado Better Business Bureau. Beth and John s three daughters are also actively involved in the business. THE WALLY HILEMAN AWARD Guy & Michelle Pylypiw Oshawa Carpet One Floor & Home Oshawa, ON The Wally Hileman Award was created in memory of Wally Hileman, Carpet One Floor & Home s first Vice President of Membership who, from 1991 through 1998, brought in many of the great members that have made Carpet One Floor & Home successful. This Award recognizes members who have been in Carpet One Floor & Home for no more than 2-3 years and have shown an outstanding commitment to the cooperative. Since joining Carpet One Floor & Home, Guy and Michelle have jumped in with both feet. They are the first to volunteer for pilot programs to help their fellow members and have been instrumental in helping to coordinate training opportunities. They represent the interests of other members through participation in the Advisory Council and active involvement in their Regional Network Group. These owners are also very family-focused. They have a niece that works with them in the business and though very busy, they make it a priority to spend quality time with their two young boys and in giving back to their community. Guy and Michelle are always working on improving, and never shy away from a challenge. In fact, in just 2 years, they have tripled their business, said Baxter Freak, Vice President of Carpet One Floor & Home Canada. And when it comes to supporting the cooperative, they give as much if not more than they take. SUPPLIER PARTNERS OF THE YEAR Each year, the Carpet One Floor & Home members vote on the Supplier Partner of the Year and Specialty Supplier Partner of the Year. These awards recognize the organizations that have made the greatest commitment and most significant impact on the membership over the past year. This year s winners, as voted on at Convention by the Carpet One Floor & Home members are: Supplier Partner of the Year Shaw Industries For the seventh year in a row, the recipient of the Supplier Partner of the Year Award, Shaw Industries, has been very supportive in supplying exclusive product lines like Tigressá Soft Style, Tigressá Cherish, and Tigressá H2O.
