Use appliance only for its intended use. 2. To protect against a risk of electric shock, do not immerse the appliance in water or other liquids. 3. The appliance should always be turned off before plugging or unplugging from outlet. Never yank the cord to disconnect from outlet, instead grasp plug and pull to disconnect. 4. Do not let the power cord touch hot surfaces. Let the Pro Iron steam station cool completely before putting it away. Wind up the power cord and attach it with the plastic Velcro. 5. Always disconnect appliance from electrical outlet when filling or emptying when not in use. 6. Do not operate appliance with a damaged cord or if appliance has been dropped or damaged. 7. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble the appliance. Contact Rowenta Consumer Services or take it to a qualified service person for examination and repair. Incorrect reassembly can cause a risk of electric shock when the appliance is used. 8. Close supervision is required for any appliance used by or near children. Do not leave the iron unattended while the appliance is connected or on an ironing board. 9. Burns can occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water or steam. Use caution when you turn a Pro Iron steam station upside down. There may be hot water in the reservoir. 10. This is a 1750 watts appliance. To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate a Pro Iron steam station on the same circuit with another high wattage appliance. 11. If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a cord with 15A or greater shall be used. A cord rated for less amperage can result in a risk of fire or electric shock due to overheating. Care shall be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or be tripped over. Any commercial use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions, the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee will not apply. For your safety, this appliance conforms to the applicable standards and regulations (Low Voltage, Electomagnetic Compatibility, Environmental Directives, as applicable ). Your Pro Iron steam station is an electrical appliance: it must be used in normal conditions of use. It is fitted with 2 safety systems: - A pressure release valve which, in the event of a malfunction, releases any excess steam. - A thermal fuse to prevent the appliance from overheating. Always plug your Pro Iron steam station into: - An electrical installation with voltage 120V. Connecting to the wrong voltage may cause irreparable damage to the appliance and will invalidate your guarantee. - The appliance must not be left unattended while it is connected to the outlet. - The plug must be removed from the outlet before the water reservoir is filled with water. - The appliance must be used and rested on a stable surface. - When placing the appliance on its stand, ensure that the surface on which the stand is placed is stable. - The appliance is not to be used if it has been dropped, if there are visible signs of damage or if it is leaking. - If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified person in order to avoid a hazard. - This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. - Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

1800122603 DG5030 US GRD_148,5x210 07/04/11 09:11 Page5 - Do not direct steam at people, animals or iron clothes while they are being worn. - Never attempt to unscrew the boiler cap while the appliance is in use. BEFORE USE Please read all of the instructions for use and the Important Safeguards carefully. Remove all packaging from the steam station. It is normal for a small amount of smoke and a light odor to be produced the first time it is used. This will quickly disappear. 1 Water recommendations Tap water Rowenta irons are designed to be used with REGULAR TAP WATER (up to 12 grains per gallon of hardness contact your local water company). If your water is harder than this, Rowenta recommends mixing half tap water with half distilled water which reduces the hardness; or just use inexpensive bottled spring water. Softened water There are many types of household water softeners and the water from many of them is perfectly acceptable for use in the Pro Iron steam station. However, some types of softeners, particularly those that use chemicals such as salt, can cause the appliance to leak or spit during use. If you experience this type of problem, we recommend that you try using inexpensive bottled spring water or untreated tap water. Once you have changed water it will take several uses to correct the problem. Rowenta recommends trying the steam function for the first time on an old towel or cloth that can be discarded to avoid potentially damaging your clothes. Always remember : Water containing additives (such as starch, perfume or fabric conditioner) will not be used. Such additives can affect the properties of the steam and at high temperatures can form deposits in the steam chamber which The strong steam pressure could result in burns. Only unscrew the cap when steam station is cold or there is no more pressure in the boiler. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS may mark the laundry when they are emitted through the steam vents. Descaling liquids/agents should not be used. 2 Filling the boiler The Pro Iron steam station is designed to operate using tap water. (A). While unplugged, place the Pro Iron steam station on a stable horizontal, heat resistant surface. Unscrew the boiler cap. To prevent overflow during filling, use the water funnel provided in the packaging. Fill slowly with water until the red ball reaches the «max» level. Do not fill water tank past the base of the boiler cap thread. Do not overfill. Be sure that water does not spill over. If this occurs remove the excess water. Replace the boiler cap and screw it on firmly but be careful to not over tighten. Over tightening can damage the green 0-ring. To fill boiler while you are using the appliance see section Filling boiler while in use. USE 3 Turning on and off Plug the Pro Iron steam station into a 120 volt electric outlet. Press on/off switch up (B), the iron light and steam indicator light will turn on. When the steam indicator light turns off (approximately 11 minutes), steam is ready. During ironing the temperature indicator light for the iron and the steam indicator light will turn on and off. This is normal as the temperature is being regulated. The unit is still on when these lights go out. To turn the unit off, press on/off switch down. Unplug and leave to cool completely before emptying or putting away. Set the temperature control dial on the iron to the minimum setting before unplugging. 5

1800122603 DG5030 US GRD_148,5x210 07/04/11 09:11 Page6 4 Steam ironing Never iron or steam clothes while they are being worn. The appliance allows steam output to be adjusted. setting on the iron : the steam control dial should be set to min. setting on the iron : the steam control should be set at the mid level. setting on the iron : the steam control dial can be set to the max. Table 1 TYPE OF FABRIC LINEN, COTTON, JEANS WOOL, SILK SYNTHETIC (Viscose, Polyester) IRON THERMO- STAT SETTING STEAM CONTROL DIAL SETTING Note : It is normal for the connection cord to become warm during use. Before using the Pro Iron steam station for the first time or if you have not used the steam function for a few minutes, press the steam button several times in a row while holding the iron away from your clothes. This will enable any cold water to be removed from the steam connection cord. When ironing start with fabrics that require a low temperature setting ( ) and finish with those which need the highest temperature ( ). Mixed fiber fabrics should be ironed on the temperature for the most delicate fabric. For example a shirt that is 60% cotton and 40% polyester should be ironed at the ( ) setting for synthetics. If spray starch is used, spray it onto the reverse side of the garment. Allow starch to penetrate before ironing. For best results, use a mesh type ironing board to allow excess steam to escape. For delicate fabrics, we recommend carrying out a test on an unobtrusive area of the garment such as an inner steam. 5 Dry ironing This appliance can be used for dry ironing if the steam trigger is not pressed and the steam control dial is set to min. 6 Vertical steam To remove wrinkles in cotton or linen, the soleplate can come into contact with the fabric for optimal results. For synthetic fabrics, a distance of 4 inches is recommended to protect the garment. For delicate fabrics, we recommend carrying out a test on an unobtrusive part of the garment (inner steam). Caution : Steam produced is very hot. To avoid burns and scalding never iron or steam clothes while they are being worn. Fill iron according to the Filling the boiler section of instructions. Press on/off switch up (B), the iron light and steam indicator light will turn on. When the steam indicator light turns off (approximately 11 minutes), steam is ready. Hang the garment on a coat hanger and hold the fabric from the bottom of the garment slightly taut with one hand. Holding the iron in a vertical position, press continuously the steam trigger while moving the iron from the top of the garment to the bottom (C). If unit is left on without steaming for a length of time, water can condense in the hose and droplets of water can be seen when you begin to use the Pro Iron steam station again. For best results simply aim the iron away from yourself, other people, animals and clothing and press the trigger for a few seconds to remove the condensation and steam begins to fill the hose. 7 Filling the boiler while in use Caution : Never unscrew the boiler cap while iron is producing steam and boiler is under pressure. Before opening the boiler, ensure that there is no steam inside. To do this, ensure the unit is turn on, press the steam trigger and keep it pressed until there is no more steam. Turn the unit off (see section Turning On and Off ) and unplug from outlet. 6

1800122603 DG5030 US GRD_148,5x210 07/04/11 09:11 Page7 Slowly unscrew the boiler cap. To prevent overflow during filling, use the water funnel provided in the packaging. Fill slowly with water until the red ball reaches the «max» level. Do not fill water tank past the base of the boiler cap thread. Be sure that water does not spill over. If this occurs remove the excess water. Install the boiler cap and screw it on tightly but be careful not to over tighten. Over tightening can damage the green 0 -ring Plug back in to electrical outlet. MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING 8 After ironing Turn the unit off. (Consult section Turning On and Off ). Unplug the appliance. Place the iron on the iron rest and allow to cool completely which will take approximately 1 hour. Once cold, empty water from the appliance before storing. We recommend emptying the boiler when not in use. Before cleaning ensure that the appliance is unplugged and completely cool down. The iron can be cleaned with a damp cloth and wiped dry. Never use household cleaners, descalers or solvents. 9 Cleaning the soleplate In normal use a draggy coating may build up on the soleplate (starch, detergent buildup, burnt synthetic fibers). This can be easily removed by using the Rowenta Soleplate Cleaning Kit or a quality hot iron soleplate cleaner available at most stores. To prevent scratching the soleplate, do not iron over sharp objects (zippers, etc.). Do not place the iron on rough surfaces, e.g. metal iron support, which may scratch the soleplate. Always put the iron with the soleplate down on the iron rest, never place on its heel. 10 Rinsing out the boiler Do not use descaling agents. To ensure optimum steam performance, the boiler must be rinsed out after every 10 uses. If your tap water is hard increase the frequency. Check that the Pro Iron steam station is unplugged and cold. Fill the boiler 3/4 full with tap water. Shake the boiler for a few moments and then empty it over a sink (D). Repeat the process. Wipe the Pro Iron steam station base regularly with a damp cloth and wipe dry. Never hold the Pro Iron steam station under the tap. Boiler Cap To ensure a proper seal, please check the green rubber ring in the safety cap for wear and tear regularly. If wear is noted, replace ring. Replacement rings are available through our consumers service department. 7

1800122603 DG5030 US GRD_148,5x210 07/04/11 09:11 Page8 TROUBLESHOOTING Issues Possible causes Solutions When switched on, the unit does not come on and the iron temperature control light is not illuminated Water runs through the holes in the soleplate. White streaks come through the holes in the soleplate. Brown streaks come through the holes in the soleplate and stain the fabric. The soleplate is dirty or brown and may stain the linen. There is no steam. Little steam is visible. Water streaks appear on the fabric. Steam escapes from the boiler cap. The appliance does not have power. You are using the steam trigger before the iron is hot enough. Water has condensed in the hose because you are using steam for the first time or you have not used it for some time. The boiler has a build-up of scale because it has not been rinsed out regularly. You are using chemical descaling agents or additives in the water for ironing. Your fabric is not rinsed sufficiently after washing or you have ironed a new garment before washing it. There is a build up of burnt fiber from ironing at too high a temperature The boiler is empty. The steam is not ready The soleplate temperature is set to the maximum. The appliance is working but steam is very hot and dry. As a consequence, it is less visible. Your ironing board is saturated with water because it is not suitable for use with a steam station. Cap screwed on incorrectly. The boiler cap is not tight enough. Check that your appliance is correctly plugged in. Check that power switch is fully set on. Wait for the iron temperature control light to go out before activating the steam control trigger. If problem persists, decrease steam output, to adapt it to iron temperature level. Pull the steam trigger while holding the iron away from your ironing board until the iron produces steam. Rinse the boiler after every 10 uses (see «cleaning & maintenance») or more if needed. Never add this type of product in the water tank or in the boiler (see our recommendations regarding water to be used). Ensure fabric is rinsed thoroughly after washing to remove any soap deposits or chemicals on new garments. See prior recommendations in setting temperature controls (Table 1). Fill the boiler. Wait for steam ready light is off Reduce iron temperature. Check that your ironing board is suitable. A mesh top ironing board rather than a perforated top ironing board must be used to allow any excess steam to escape and to avoid steam venting sideways. When unit is cold, unscrew cap and put back on. The seal on the cap is worn. Check cap regularly for signs of wear and tear to green rubber ring. Replace if wear is noticed. Check that 0-ring is not cracked or broken and that you have tightened the boiler cap firmly. * USA : If this troubleshooting does not resolve the issue, before consulting the retailer or returning the product, please telephone Rowenta Consumer Services at 1-800-769-3682.
