Service BEKO TECHNOLOGIES Service Compressed Air Quality Audit ISO 8573 The Quality Of Your Compressed Air Better through Responsibility
The importance of air quality: ISO standard Experience gained over many years has enabled BEKO TECHNO- LOGIES to design ever more efficient, reliable and high-quality compressed air treatment systems. Every compressed air system is designed and built in line with the specific requirements of the customer, above all taking into account the ISO standards that govern the quality of the compressed air. There are three standards currently in force that refer directly to the quality (purity) and the analysis of compressed air: ISO 8573 / ISO 12500 / ISO 7183 The one used most is ISO 8573. This standard defines the methods and tests to be used to determine the contaminants present in compressed air. Classification of contaminants according to ISO 8573: Solid particulate Residual humidity Residual oil (including vapour) content The consequences of contaminants in compressed air The consequences of the use of contaminated compressed air can range from faults in plants, limited production and shutdowns due to problems with the quality of the end product: Premature wear Rust and corrosion of equipment Instrumentation damage Imperfect painted surfaces Increase in the volume of waste Delivery of faulty products into the market Wear and corrosion of pipes The regular and continuous analysis of TO CHECK THE PERORMANCE O COM- PRESSED AIR PURIICATION DEVICES the quality of compressed air guarantees safety to the production processes, free from the risks of contamination 2
To establish the quality of air in line with ISO 8573-1 2010, the international standard for the classification of contaminants ISO 8573-1 is the main document of the ISO 8573 series, as it specifies the level of contamination allowed for every type of contaminant in each cubic metre of compressed air. ISO 8573-1 lists the main contaminants such as solid particulate, water and oil (in the form of aerosol and vapour). The maximum levels for every contaminant are shown separately in tabular form, but to make the document easier to understand, all three contaminants are combined. Compressed air quality ISO 8573-1: 2010 Air quality classes Solid particulate, maximum number of particles per m 3 0.1 µm 0.5 µm 0.5 µm 1.0 µm 1.0 µm 5.0 µm PDP (pressure dew point) C 0 Based on the specifications of the user or the equipment supplier and more stringent than class 1 1 20.000 400 10 70 0.01 2 400.000 6.000 100 40 0.1 3 90.000 1.000 20 1 4 10,000 +3 5 5 100,000 +7 > 5 6 +10 Oil (including steam) (mg/m 3 ) ood industry When dealing with food, hygiene is the main requirement to guarantee the quality of finished products. During production, the pneumatic processes and the transport of substances require compressed air of absolute purity. or packaging, clean compressed air is indispensable for cleaning, for example when using compressed air to clean plastic bottles or containers. Our process technology provides for the tailor-made treatment of compressed air via the discharge of condensate, filtration and drying. Pharmaceutical industry The most rigorous hygiene standards are applied in the production of pharmaceuticals. This obviously also applies to the compressed air that is used. This air must be absolutely free from oil so as not to contaminate sensitive products, for example in the production of pills: any dust is removed down-stream of the press with compressed air. BEKO TECHNOLOGIES offers personalised solutions to prepare oil-free process air safely. Electronics industry In the electronics industry, compressed air is used in various ways: as a means of transport and cleaning, as energy support for compressed air tools. In any application, the compressed air requirements are high in terms of purity. With the components in the system combined to best effect, we guarantee an unbeatable treatment of the compressed air throughout the process. The METPOINT OCV continuously measures the residual oil vapour content in the compressed air and makes that quality visible. 3
The quality of the air cannot be seen, but can be measured: Measurement systems and services from BEKO TECHNOLOGIES Companies try to overcome considerable challenges during production: when the safety of products and processes depends on the quality of compressed air. It is necessary to guarantee treatment at the highest level and to establish air quality that is compliant with ISO 8573-1: 2010. BEKO TECHNOLOGIES not only produce systems for the treatment of compressed air but also offers a wide range of measuring instruments that monitor and record data; this guarantees visible and certified safety of compressed air quality. With innovative technology from BEKO TECHNOLOGIES for measuring the quality of compressed air, your system will become more secure. BEKO TECHNOLOGIES offer a service that enables you to measure all the parameters in real time, without having to purchase all the instrumentation necessary to measure air quality to the ISO 8573 standards. All of the measuring instruments used during the service are subject to a regular annual calibration to guarantee the efficiency and reliability of the measurements. The METPOINT OCV, whether mobile or fixed, is the leading measurement system in the world with TÜV certification for measuring the content of residual oil vapour in compressed air.
Measurement of the quality of compressed air according to ISO 8573: Solid particulate residual humidity residual oil (including vapour) METPOINT BDL Data logging for compressed air applications Certificate issued by TÜV NORTH PC 400 Particle meter The high precision of the PC 400 particle counter measures particles from 0.1 µm and is therefore ideal for monitoring the quality of compressed air to class 1 (ISO 8573) METPOINT DPM Pressure dew point meter The fixed dew point meter shows temperature, relative humidity and pressure dew point (down to below <-70 C PDP) accurately, not just for compressed air but also for other gases METPOINT OCV - Residual oil vapour content meter The METPOINT OCV with TÜV certification meets the measurement requirements for residual oil vapour and hydrocarbons according to the ISO 8573.1 standard for classes 1, 2, 3 and 4. METPOINT OCV makes the purity of your compressed air visible 5
