Combined heating Pax combined towel warmers are waterfilled and heated either using a radiator valve via an existing water-borne radiator system and/or by Pax s unique electric heating element with a Momento timer. Facts The top 12 most common questions to our customer support 1. Can I install my heated towel warmer myself? If your towel warmer has a plug that was fitted in the factory, you can install the warmer yourself, but only if the electrical socket is outside area 1 (see general building regulations). If your towel warmer has a hidden connection or water connection, it must always be installed by qualified technician (an electrician and a plumber). We recommend that you always talk to qualified professionals first to find out which type of installation is appropriate. 2. What type of heated towel warmer would suit me? If you only want to use your towel warmer to dry and warm towels and clothes, an electric towel warmer is sufficient. You can then select any warmer from the Pax range. If you want to use the towel warmer instead of a radiator to heat a room, we recommend a combined electric and water-heated towel warmer. Find out first how much heat the towel warmer needs to produce so that you can calculate how much heat you need, and then choose a towel warmer of a suitable size. 3. Can I install the heated towel warmer upside down? No! Our products are made to be positioned in a certain way. If you install them the wrong way, there s a major risk that they won t work as they should. Always consult a qualified electrician if you re unsure. 4. What is the C-C distance? The C-C distance is the centre-to-centre measurement of the distance between connecting pipes and between screw holes. 5. What does combined water and electric mean? If you have a water-filled towel warmer, you can install it in your radiator system using a radiator valve. But it s always a good idea to add an electric element so that you can also have the warmer on in summer, when the heating in your home is often switched off. Towel warmers are most important in summer as the high level of humidity means that clothes and towels dry slowly, increasing the risk of mould and bacterial growth. 6. How much water should I fill my towel warmer with on installation? Fill it up with water as far as the upper transverse tube so that half the tube is filled. Bear in mind that too little water can ruin the electric element and too much will not leave enough space for the water to expand when it is heated up, so make sure you fill it correctly. Always consult a qualified electrician and plumber if you re unsure. 7. What is a hot water circulation system? This refers to a system in which domestic hot water circulates. The system is found almost exclusively in blocks of flats. Pax complies with the industry regulations of Säker Vatten (Safe Water) and does not recommend the installation of towel warmers in hot water circulation systems for reasons including the risk of the growth of Legionella bacteria. 8. What will happen to my product during a power cut? If you have a product with a Momento timer, your programming will disappear and the product will return to its factory settings. Products without Momento will start again as soon as the power comes back on. 9. Why should I choose Momento? Because Momento adapts to your specific needs and reduces your towel warmer s energy consumption by up to %. Momento is unique thanks to its timer function, which can be activated at the simple push of a button and will then switch off automatically after six hours. Momento also includes a memory function, allowing you to select two recurring times at which you want the towel warmer to be switched on each day. The smart connection box is designed to reduce installation time. 10. What are IP zones? When you install an electrical appliance in a bathroom or other room with water fittings, you must take into account what are known as IP zones. All electrical appliances are labelled with an IP code that shows how protected they are against water and dust. Wet rooms are divided into three IP zones, each area having a minimum IP code that must be used. Always consult a qualified electrician first. 11. What must I bear in mind when choosing radiator valves? Find out whether you can install your dual fuel towel warmer with hidden pipes in the wall or with surface radiator pipes. It s then important to decide whether your dual fuel warmer will be heated solely by the radiator system or combined with an electric element. We recommend a combined solution for guaranteed comfort all year round, even when the radiator system is switched off in summer. 12. What do CE and S marking mean? CE marking is a legal requirement within the EU. By CE marking its products, the manufacturer certifies that the product meets the product safety requirements applicable in the EU. The S mark is a voluntary certification. It allows the manufacturer to inform the customer that the product has been tested and approved by Intertek. Intertek is an independent testing laboratory that tests products to see whether they meet the safety requirements in areas including electrical safety, fire prevention and the risks of mechanical injury. Five-year warranty we re confident about our quality Pax require a great deal in the terms of the quality of our products. We think you should do so too. This is why all our heated towel warmers come with a five-year warranty. This warranty entitles you to file complaints regarding faults in our products for up to five years from the date of purchase, providing that the product is installed and used according to the installation and operating instructions. We are certified according to ISO9000 and in collaboration with our subcontractors, we perform inspections and tests at their and our factory. Following these tests our components are subjects to quality control in our own quality department before deciding whether or not they meet Pax s high standards. We re confident about our quality. Drying towels is one of our areas of expertise Pax is a Swedish company based in Hälleforsnäs in Södermanland, Sweden. Here, we design, assemble and manufacture our products before sending them to you. The objective has always been to create products with both design and function in mind.
