Comfort and security Comfort embellishes everyday life An electronic blind controller from Schenker Storen brings added value, however, it is anything but a luxury. It contributes to the value retention of your investment by protecting your blinds and property from the wind and weather. And it will also ensure a better energy efficiency. On the following pages, you will get an initial insight into the possibilities that our controllers can offer you. At Schenker Storen you will find systems ranging from a simple controller for individual awnings to complex control systems for very large office buildings. A Schenker Storen controller can register, analyse and correspondingly react to virtually all weather data: Precipitation Wind strength Frost Position of the sun Brightness Outside and inside temperature Air humidity GPS signal/radio-controlled timer In addition to the automatic functions, the blinds can of course be operated manually. Blind controllers are a key criterion in the planning of a MINERGIE property, because the MINERGIE standard can only be attained if the blinds are combined with an electronic controller. KNX is a worldwide standard for intelligent buildings. Schenker Storen also develops and supplies KNX components and has many years of experience in the planning and development of KNX controllers. 2

A controller can adapt itself to the brightness or to your wishes. Automatic solar shading system: measures the current brightness and runs the blind into the shading position as required. Automatic darkening system: measures the external brightness and automatically runs the blind into the desired position. Manual operation: permits the centralised or local operation of blinds. Remote operation (mobile transmitter): permits the wireless operation of blinds. A controller protects your blinds from the wind and weather. Wind evaluation: measures the current wind speed and protects blinds from excessive wind loads. External temperature evaluation: measures the current outdoor temperature for the frost evaluation process. Precipitation evaluation: detects precipitation and protects the blinds from becoming soaking wet or from frost. Frost function: determines whether there is a danger of frost from the precipitation and external temperature, and protects against it correspondingly. Your feel-good climate precisely controlled to the second. Radio-controlled timer/gps: receives the time and date, or position, e.g. for time-controlled programs. Interior room temperature/room thermostat: measures the internal room temperature and delays the shading action until the required temperature has been reached. Time-controlled program: allows the blind products to move into position under time control. Air humidity evaluation: measures the current interior air humidity and automatically opens/closes the windows for room ventilation. High security within your own four walls thanks to a Schenker Storen controller. Keeping escape routes open: in order to keep escape routes open, the system can raise blinds according to information from a smoke alarm system. Deterrence: the system can evaluate the signal of a motion detector and close the blinds correspondingly. Safety during maintenance: the blinds are run to an end position and locked for cleaning or maintenance work on windows or blinds. 3

Radio controller SE 50 Radio controller SE 60 Single-channel controller SE 100 Remodelling and retrofitting The SE 50 radio controller enables a wireless network of transmitters and receivers. Various hand-held and wall-mounted transmitters, as well as sensors and switches are available for the optimum operation of your blinds. Thanks to the low wiring costs, this system is specifically suited for retrofitting into existing buildings and for the motorisation of existing blind systems. Suitable for both slat blinds and fabric blinds. Remodelling and new buildings The SE 60 is a radio controller that fits in beautifully with the home surroundings owing to its elegant hand-held transmitters. The blinds can be protected and automatically operated with the additional sensors. Thanks to the radio amplifier, the range of reception can be extended and subsequently the range of the SE 60 is also extended. Newly built single-family homes/ Functional buildings The SE 100 is an easy-to-use control device with and integrated time switch for slat blinds or fabric blinds. It can drive individual motors or motor groups. This control device is preferably used in single-family homes, shop windows and exhibition rooms, as well as for shading seating areas and winter gardens. 4

A pleasure to use and a top design SE 400: security and functionality With the SE 400 multi-channel controller from Schenker Storen, you can control different blind products as well as the windows, light, ventilation, etc. The four control channels can be flexibly extended with radio-controlled channels. You can adjust all the settings simply and intuitively using the elegant touch display. The multi-channel SE 400 controller is suitable for single-family homes or multi-family buildings, smaller office buildings and industrial buildings. Each control channel can be programmed individually and ideally co-ordinated to suit your needs. Further drive groups can be added and individually controlled using the radio-controlled channels. A combi sensor on the roof registers a GPS signal, along with the brightness, precipitation, wind and temperature; this signal determines the exact position of the sun and the building as well as the altitude of the sun and the time. The discrete interior sensor provides data on the inside temperature and air humidity, thus making it possible to set other individual programmings in the system. The different data are combined so that, on the one hand, the building can be optimally shaded and on the other hand, the blinds are protected against damages from the wind and weather. You can adjust all configurations directly on the elegant touch display, whose use is self-explanatory thanks to its design. There is always the option of operating the blinds by hand. The current weather data and readings are displayed graphically when the control unit is in sleep mode. 5

Protection and energy efficiency SE 1000: security at the highest level The SE 1000 is a modularly developed and extendable control system designed to control all of Schenker Storen s products. It can also automate other drives, e.g. windows or lights. The control system can be integrated into higher-level systems and also offers the possibility for remote control/remote maintenance. The SE 1000 is used in large properties and superstructures, but may also be just the thing for some single-family homes. For buildings with higher requirements, mostly commercial and administrative buildings, a simple shading function is no longer sufficient. The SE 1000 can provide complex shading concepts, extensive protection and locking functions as well as different priorities. Specific customer requirements that go beyond the standard functions can be freely programmed. Owing to its modular design, the controller can be extended at any time and it can be easily integrated into an overall building management system through transfer and acceptance signals. In conjunction with our KNX components, the SE 1000 offers maximum flexibility. Thus, if it is to be used for a different purpose, the SE 1000 can simply be reprogrammed without the need to modify the hardware. Highly flexible standard KNX: international standard for intelligent buildings KNX is a worldwide open standard for intelligent buildings. It offers the platform for devices from different manufacturers to communicate with each other in a single network. Schenker Storen also develops and supplies KNX components and offers KNX solutions for, among other things, the automatic control of blinds. KNX is the preferred option when it comes to intelligent homes and buildings because it is so easy to install and use. All the devices such as sensors, actuators, buttons or touch panels can be clearly addressed and they communicate with each other over just two wires. Any changes are usually made by adjustments to the software, it is not necessary to rewire the entire system. If the user would like to extend the system, further devices can be added to the existing bus line. KNX is suitable for single-family homes as well as for commercial and office buildings. The complete weather data (brightness, precipitation, wind, temperature, GPS, etc.) can be measured depending on your requirements, or just a specific value such as, for example, wind. These values are available on the bus and can be read and used by the other connected devices (actuators). This means that the precise function can be defined for each individual blind. As a developer and supplier of KNX components, Schenker Storen manages complete control projects, but also offers the whole product range to the integrators for their own controllers. The motors can be driven individually or in groups, and the system can be linked to sun, wind and precipitation sensors as well as internal room thermostats. The system can also be supplemented with time switches for a time-controlled operation of the blinds. Simple radio controller for slat blinds and fabric blinds. This elegant hand-held transmitter can operate individual blinds or groups. With the concealed button interface, conventional buttons for blinds can be used as wireless wall-mounted transmitters. By using one or more repeaters, the radio signal can be spread over several floors or in another part of the building. The controller can be extended with sensors and is compatible with our solar drives. The two SE 100 controllers are convenient for blinds and awnings of any size and model. The intensity of the sunlight is measured via the connected sun sensors, and the blinds are extended when the preset value is reached. If the wind becomes too strong, the wind sensor ensures that the blinds will be retracted. The precipitation sensor protects the blinds from damage caused by movement during frost. Radio receiver Depending on what blind system is already installed, the radio receiver can be integrated in the motor for the blind (for fabric blinds), or it can be mounted as an adapter into the supply cable of the motor. This is particularly recommended for modernisation projects, as there is usually no place for installations. Sensors A variety of sensors can be chosen from depending on the type of control and the requirements: for example, a combined sun and wind sensor or separate sensors for measuring a specific value, e.g. a thermostat or precipitation sensor. Actuators Motor control units or actuators must be used so that motors for the blinds are not connected in parallel. Actuators can be surface-mounted, concealed, or on top-hat rail installations. Local buttons can be connected directly to the actuator. 8

SE 400 technology Multi-channel controller SE 400 The multi-channel controller for slat blinds, awnings, fabric blinds, roller blinds, windows, light, ventilation, etc. Suitable for single-family homes or multi-family buildings, smaller office buildings and industrial buildings. The four wired channels can be extended with additional drives or drive groups by using the radio-controlled channels. The control unit receives all the data for protection against the wind, precipitation and frost, automatic shading, tracking the position of the sun, automatic darkening system and timer programs from a weather station with a GPS reception. These functions ensure the longevity of the blinds, an increase in comfort and also energy optimisation. The unit is operated through a multifunctional touch display, hand-held radio transmitter or up/down buttons. Comfort functions Integrated shading functions using time-controlled programs, sun tracking feature, temperature dependency inside and outside, as well as room climate (hu midity) can all be automated at the customer s request. Product protection functions Several functions are integrated into the system to protect the connected products against damage from rain, wind/ storm, snow or frost. SE 1000 technology SE 1000 control system The unique modular design of the SE 1000 allows you to customise the control configurations to suit your property. Thus, future requirements or tenant improvements can already be taken into account at the planning stage. The control can be further extended at any time and is equally suitable for small to large properties. Depending on your requirements or desired flexibility, the structure can be constructed using the conventional motor control devices or as a KNX bus. It is also possible to combine different topologies. The building management system can be connected, integrated and monitored on-site through various interfaces. The Ethernet connections can be used to access the Web server with the visualisation, or for the remote operation and remote maintenance of the controller. The blinds are divided into sectors over the 32 or 64 available channels, which are useful for, e.g., automatic shading or according to use. KNX technology KNX control system KNX components from Schenker Storen offer comprehensive product protection and comfort for all blinds, windows, doors and lighting. Devices are addressed and configured through the ETS programming software. Depending on the requirements, the desired function can be stored for groups or for each individual drive: automatic shading, sun tracking, wind protection, precipitation, etc. The binary inputs on the actuator can be configured for local operation, encoders or transfer signals. The advantage: costsaving standard buttons can be used. The KNX installations can be ideally complemented with our SE 1000 control system.
