TECHNICAL OBJECTIVES Rebuilding of PM10 including replacement of the previous cast iron Yankee dryer with a new steel Yankee dryer. Project goals: 20% increase in production capacity (with shorter PM downtime and optimized capital investment) Paper trim optimization Expected results: PM speed up from 1250 m/min to 1600 m/min 20% increase in drying capacity Better trimmed paper on the pope 6
ACHIEVEMENTS BEFORE REBUILDING AFTER REBUILDING Machine speed [m/min] 1250 1600 Tissue production [ton/day] 90 110 (+20%) Paper sheet face length [mm] 3720 3800 7
MAIN INTERVENTIONS Yankee dryer and frame replacement New steam and condensate systems Felt rolls and accessories on the wet section replacement, using innovative technologies for reels coatings Hood modification to update and optimise the flow and the blowing surface Broke pulper replacement to increase treatment capacity 8
MAIN INTERVENTIONS Fan pump and head box screen replacement PM electrical system rebuilding with latest generation inverters and high efficiency motors Vacuum system upgrade Yankee doctoring systems upgrade: cut-off, creping and cleaning doctors 9
ORADOC TECHNICAL GOALS The main goal was to adapt the doctoring systems in the Yankee section, respecting the close Lucart Group s project deadline. Main points: Preliminary engineering study of the Yankee area rebuilding Install new creping doctor Adapt cleaning and cut-off positions on the existing doctors back within 4 working days at Oradoc workshop, during PM shutdown Carry out the entire job - partly in our workshop and partly on site - in extremely short time 10
YANKEE DOCTORING SYSTEM UPGRADE Creping doctor replacement Cleaning and cut-off doctors modification Control panel and accessories Creping blade extractor 11
ORADOC PROJECT DETAILS On site measurements service Concept proposal and design Supply of new creping doctor Disassembling and shipping of the existing cut-off and cleaning doctor backs to Oradoc s workshop to be modified Adapting and preassembling of cut-off and cleaning doctor holders on existing doctor backs within 4 working days at Oradoc workshop, during PM shutdown On-site installation, set-up and commissioning in Laval plant 12
CUT-OFF & CLEANING DOCTOR UPGRADE OraSlick blade holders supply Shafts, bearings, new brackets, pneumatic cylinders and levers supply Doctor holders widening 13
NEW CUT OFF & CLEANING BLADE HOLDER OraSlick benefits: Stiff and open design Minimized deposit and incrustation Better holder s cleaning Easy removal cartridge Fast stick out change BLADE CARTRIDGE BLADE HOLDER 14
CREPING POSITION REPLACEMENT OraCrepe TM : flexible blade holder on the wider Yankee surface Full installation supply including doctor back, blade holding, bearings, brackets, etc. Made in stainless steel 15
CREPING BLADE HOLDER BENEFITS OBTAINED Optimized self profiling allowing lower blade load on the Yankee surface as main benefit (about 200 dan/m) More protection of the Yankee surface Longer blade lifetime Less coating needed Energy saving 16
EXTRACTION SYSTEM This device allows the operator to keep at a greater distance from the creping doctor blade, avoiding possible accidents during standard blade extraction procedures. Compact design Aided blade replacement Increased safety for the operator 17
SUM UP AND CONCLUSIONS The Yankee area doctoring systems rebuilding has had a great impact within the overall speed up project of the Laval plant. Demanding project carried out within a limited time frame Management of complex logistics and accurate on-site commissioning and set-up activities h24 Customized solution on cut-off and cleaning already existing doctor backs New OraSlick TM blade holder to guarantee better performances 18
