Professional solutions for building automation The newcontrol B.E.G. product lines professionals T o reflect changes in the market and in product structure, B.E.G. has restructured its six product groups. The introduction of the LUXOMAT net product group has been driven by innovative premium-quality products in occupancy and motion detectors and by the extension of the product offering towards professional control, in particular DALI system technology. This group will in future cover KNX, DALI and LON bus products. LUXOMAT continues to stand for premium-quality occupancy and motion detectors, as well as photo electric switches for conventional applications. The name LUXOMATIC will cover automatic lights and floodlights. Time switches will still be found under the CHRONOLUX product group. The other two product groups are B.E.G. SMARTHOME for smoke detectors and SAFETYLUX for the emergency sector. B.E.G. LUXOMAT Occupancy and motion detectors B.E.G. LUXOMATIC Lights and floodlights B.E.G. LUXOMAT net DALI, KNX, LON P1 Additionally, to help customers find their way more easily, each product group will be designated by its own product group colour in the product literature. The revised structure signifies a strategic repositioning of the B.E.G. company profile. Stephan Winkelmann, Marketing Manager at B.E.G., summed up: In our external communications, we will highlight the strengths for which our customers know us: a broad product range, reliable professional solutions, outstanding quality, and personal service. This is also reflected in our new company strapline, B.E.G. The control professionals. B.E.G. SAFETYLUX Safety and emergency lights B.E.G. CHRONOLUX Time switches con B.E.G. SAFETYLUX Intelligent emergency LED technology control professionals F or decades, B.E.G. has not only stood for the development and production of premium-quality occupancy and motion detectors, but has also been a pioneer in the emergency sector, a market segment in which it can draw on over 40 years of experience in this segment. The highly successful Diamant series of panel lights in this segment has been completely revised to state of the art standards. Lighting has been completely changed over to LED technology, offering the chance to make the aluminium profile significantly thinner. A redevelopment of the electronics and software has incorporated innovative functions, e.g. an automatic test function. Settings, test results and problems can thus be comprehensively logged and displayed in different ways via status LEDs. European standards and requirements are therefore exceeded. P2 In addition to the LED display integrated into the unit, all data and settings can be conveniently read out and programmed in using a bidirectional remote control. This takes place via the B.E.G. smartphone app and the accompanying adapter. Another version of the Diamant range of emergency offers central monitoring via the DALI bus. This can be used to monitor and set up units placed throughout the building from a central location. We will be changing over all B.E.G. emergency to the new technology. The Diamant range of products is just the beginning, explained Jan Thölke, product manager at B.E.G. responsible for the emergency sector. We develop modern LED emergency lights, which will meet all current regulatory requirements and have a long lifespan, simple programming and comprehensive but convenient monitoring. 4

LUXOMAT net A new world of DALI products from B.E.G. DALI compact DALI system control professionals O riginally designed for switching and dimming of lights, DALI is getting smarter and more extensive in the field of building automation. B.E.G. is dividing up its DALI product ranges within the LUXOMAT net product group, into DALI system for building, multi-room and single-room solutions and DALI compact for stand-alone applications with group or broadcast control. The single master variant DALI compact, or standalone solution, contains products which combine everything in one case: the DALI power supply, push button control, relay and application controller are housed directly in the detector case. The devices can be quickly brought into use thanks to the broadcast feature and the pre-installed settings. The area being monitored can be extended inexpensively with conventional slave devices, which are compatible with the DALI master devices. All settings and configurations can be easily installed via the remote control or the B.E.G. app in conjunction with the smartphone IR adapter. P3 In contrast to the standalone solutions in the DALI compact product group, many new scalable functions are available in the DALI system product group, reflected in the three solution packs: single room, multi-room and building. As well as addressability and the multiple master principle, the system s scalability, from single rooms to control of an entire building via the DALI bus, is a major advantage. The many functions and set-up options via USB, Ethernet, LAN, WLAN or Bluetooth (interface depends on solution pack required) mean that planners achieve greater efficiency in the planning process and installers benefit from reduced installation process costs. Each of the DALI network components (up to 64 operating or control units) has a short address and a group ID. Lighting groups can be formed, which can be synchronised with each other efficiently and conveniently through the guided light function. In particular, the calendar function is a plus point for energy saving, and the option to set up lamp error reporting via email also makes the maintenance process streamlined and convenient. B.E.G. LUXOMAT net Compact and intelligent control with new features DALI compact occupancy detectors control professionals S oftware in the B.E.G. DALI occupancy detectors has been updated with new features for more customer benefits and economical application. Factory settings for switch-on threshold and follow-up time have been programmed as 500 Lux and 10 minutes, so that the majority of use cases are covered with no change to parameters. This saves time and simplifies the installation. Status LED functions have been unified with those of standard detectors. This eliminates the possibility of false interpretations. With the new IR-PD-DALI-E remote P4 control, orientation brightness can also be set to a percentage. The integrated INI-ON/OFF function can be used to define whether the light is switched on or off in the first 60 seconds after current is applied. The factory setting is INI-ON, i.e. the light is switched on. The integrated Soft Start offers a gradual switch-on of the. This conserves the lamps used and increases their lifespan. For movement to switch on the again within 10 seconds of it being switched off, an intelligent semi-automatic function is built in. An electronic ballast reset can be activated by pressing the RESET button for 5 seconds during the self-test cycle. 6

LUXOMAT net Addressable DALI master occupancy detector and slave device PD4-DAA4G control professionals P5 T he LUXOMAT PD4-M-DAA4G is a compact DALI management system tailored for training rooms and classrooms, offering uniform conditions. Contained in a single case are: a highly-sensitive occupancy detector, a DALI controller which can group DALI electronic ballasts, a DALI power supply and a push button control for up to 3 zones. Up to 64 DALI units can be connected, and an integrated relay offers yet more options for individual setup according to local requirements e.g. for HVAC or another zone. Using the B.E.G. remote control app (available in the App Store for Android and ios) and the compatible B.E.G. IR adapter for smartphones, grouping of lights and fast commissioning is practically child s play. The device can be used straight out of the box in broadcast mode for energy efficiency and convenience functions without changing any settings. The wide detection area, and the ability to install the light sensor individually, mean that in many situations, only one detector per room has to be installed. However, if it proves necessary to extend the detection area, up to 4 slave devices can be connected. Initial setup of slave devices works on the plug & play principle: no settings are required before mounting. 7

LUXOMAT net Motion and daylight-dependent control The super slimprofessionals multisensor PD11-DALISYS control P6 For manual control via conventional wall switches, a multiple master-capable DALI push button module (PBMDALISYS-4W) is needed, from which direct commands are automatically captured at the lights and are actioned. Factory settings of plug & play in broadcast mode with full automatic setting, daylight-dependent regulation, 500 Lux and a 10 minute follow-up time all enable rapid installation and testing. T he LUXOMAT net PD11-DALISYS-FLAT is a very slim, addressable, multiple master-capable DALI multisensor for unobtrusive installation in suspended ceilings or in ceiling outlets/flush-mount boxes. Settings for basic functionality can be made via DIP switches and Hex potentiometer, which can substantially speed up the commissioning and maintenance processes. With the new function Guided light light applications can be created more comfortable and safer. All settings can be made via a free PC tool, which simply connects to the DALI power supply with a USB interface (PSDALISYS-USB-REG). The device can be added seamlessly to the scalable B.E.G. LUXOMAT net DALI system and can be optionally used as Master or Slave device. With a circular 360 detection area, and a range of 3 metres (6 metre diameter), energy costs can be saved over an area of approx. 30 m² through automatic switch-off and daylightdependent regulation of DALI installations. Up to eight of these devices can be networked together on one DALI line, and run as master or slave as desired. Power supply is via the DALI bus, with a current consumption of about 7 ma. Motion detection events and/or light values are sent via a data protocol, and they can be processed either by other similarly set up units, or by a superior one. Additionally, full automatic, semi-automatic or photo electric switch modes can be activated each with or without daylight-dependent regulation. The control circuit for daylight-dependent regulation can also be connected with other DALI groups using offsets. Furthermore, there are 16 trigger inputs available for synchronisation of the main or orientation light depending on motion detection events in other groups. 0.85 mm 8

LUXOMAT net Functionally revised hardware and software The newcontrol generation of KNX detectors professionals P7 parameters via ETS-software. Thus, the installer can save time because he does not have to climb a ladder in order to fix blinds. W ith the new KNX detectors' generation 6 B.E.G. the specialist for controls introduces occupancy detectors with completely re-engineered hard- and software. The new hardware allows a significant lower mounting depth which facilitates considerably the installation with limited space such as false ceilings. The new B.E.G. KNX devices are optional available with an integrated acoustic sensor, a temperature sensor and for the Indoor 140-L wall switch with internal LEDs for orientation- and nightlight function. Therefore, acoustical signals can also be used for occupancy detection. A single room temperature control can be realized with the temperature sensor. The integrated offset control allows different brightness levels inside one room. In addition complex allocations can be realized with the integrated logic module. A maximum of possibilities offer the remote control options with free programmable buttons for special functions. The communication works bi-directional which allows an easy data upload from the sensor. Main target for the new development was to consider the individual customer requirements. This reflects the functionality of the complete new hard- and software. We offer the electrician and specifier new possibilities, to meet his customers requirements, mentions Christoph Boersch, product manager at B.E.G. and responsible for KNX products. In addition to the reliable functions of former products the new generation s functionality includes further features. Moreover, the adjustment was improved and the independent activation of single PIR-sensors implemented so that separate areas can be turned off by setting 9

LUXOMAT net Reliable and simple system integration The newcontrol LONprofessionals occupancy detectors P8 T he new B.E.G. LON occupancy detectors with integrated light sensor for daylight-dependent control were specially developed for use with the established future-proof LON building automation bus system. As well as the sensor components, the remote control-capable occupancy detectors also contain the matching FT5000 LON transceiver and the FT-X3 LON transformer. The required easily integrated software is available for download from the B.E.G. homepage. Depending on where they are to be used, two versions are available: The office-oriented PD2N-LON with its detection area of 10 m diameter is perfectly suited to universal installation in smaller rooms, such as offices or toilets, or at individual workstations. The long-range PD4N-LON with its large detection area of 24 m diameter is especially suited to monitoring large areas and rooms, for example underground garages, sports halls, warehouses, meeting rooms, school rooms, function rooms etc. Both detectors can be operated in full automatic or semiautomatic mode. Switching or constant light regulation modes are implemented. The detectors have a simple HVAC interface. As well as easy installation of on and off delays for orientation when people are absent, all configuration settings can be changed via network variables. Using the optional IR-PD-LON remote control, dimmable brightness thresholds can be set up, HVAC configurations can be carried out, and up to three scenes can be stored and retrieved. In addition, the IR-PD-LON has the advantage of being able to remotely control roller shutter actuators via the detector. Both detectors are therefore multifunctional and can be individually integrated into LON systems. 10

LUXOMAT Invisible and temperature-independent P9 The newcontrol generation of microwave (radar) detectors professionals A t Light + Building 2016, B.E.G. is presenting with the HF-MD3 and HF-MD4 newly-developed microwave motion detector. Microwave technology is significantly different from conventional passive infrared detectors in that detection of motion is independent of temperature. The technology is based on radar, which evaluates the reflections of the transmitted microwave waves on moving objects (Doppler effect). The aim of the new development was to combine reliable detection with user-friendly configuration of the devices. The innovative antenna design, based on pattern technology, enables accurate setup of the detection area. In addition, the incorporation of a light sensor offers a convenient occupancy detector function. This means that the connected load is automatically switched off if there is sufficient daylight. To facilitate optimal positioning of the sensors in difficult installation situations, and to avoid sources of interference, and to to install the sensor invisibly the HF-MD4 has the light sensor and the microwave detection sensor unit separated from the power source. These are simply connected to the power source via plug-in cables. Thus they can be placed optimally in the room. All settings can be conveniently configured by smartphone using the bidirectional B.E.G. remote control app in connection with the IR adapter for smartphones. Wit h t h e microwa ve occupancy detector HFMD3, the light sensor and the microwave detection sensor are integrated into the power source casing. An external light sensor can also be connected as an option. This lends itself in particular to a hidden installation behind wood, glass or partition walls. Reliable and accurate dete ction is p os sible through its microwave technology with preciselyconfigurable detection area. 11

LUXOMAT The occupancy detector with added illumination PD2N-LED-M-1C control professionals P10 W ith the new PD2N-M-1C-LED occupancy detector, B.E.G. has for the first time combined the functionality of a ceiling occupancy detector with an LED orientation light. The LED orientation light is arranged as a light ring around the detector lens. The occupancy detector, based on the PD2, with a detection area of 10m, has an integrated daylight-dependent controller and a variety of installation options. With the special smartphone app, all parameters can be read out clearly and easily, and the right values for its planned use can be set up. The orientation light built in to the detector remains activated for a configurable follow-up time after automatic switch-off of the main light. Additionally, the function full automatic in standard mode offers a certain level of orientation as soon as the room is entered, which gives a dark-to-light transition that is easy on the eye. In semi-automatic mode, the main light is not switched on automatically, but has to be deliberately switched on at a wall switch, offering further increases in energy saving. If the room is entered only briefly, full illumination is not usually needed. In this case, the LED light offers sufficient orientation, and energy consumption is reduced to the minimal consumption of the LED ring. To expand the detection area, the occupancy detector can be easily connected to additional slave devices. Combination with the Indoor 140-L LED wall detector is also an option. This means that combinations of detectors for different uses and applications can be switched together. In short, the combination of orientation and automatic control results in significantly increased convenience and energy saving. There is also the option to adjust all parameters locally, according to requirements. 12

LUXOMATIC Energy-efficient, robust and powerful P11 Linear lights for moisture-proof applications LED control professionals B.E.G. has expanded its portfolio with a range of LED lights for moisture-proof applications. The robust IP65 case is equipped with stainless steel fasteners and an opal cover. The cover prevents dazzle from the highperformance LEDs. With a power consumption of only 35 W, the light s LEDs provide a light output of 4400 lm and thus represent an alternative to fluorescent lamps of up to 58 W. Premium-quality LEDs and drivers and a solid mounting plate, preventing overheating of the LEDs, ensure an extremely long service life. The AL60-LEDN-PD9M LED light is equipped with the small, powerful PD9 occupancy detector. With a diameter of under 4 cm, it can detect an area of up to 10 m across. A newly-developed cover guarantees high levels of protection to IP65. To set up the occupancy detector, climbing a ladder or opening the light is not required. All settings on the occupancy detector can be made with the utmost ease using an IR remote control or the B.E.G. smartphone app with the required IR adapter for smartphones. This light is also available in two further variants. For simpler applications, it is available as the AL60-LEDN-PD9 with a PD9 motion detector. In addition, the AL60-LEDNHF LED light is also available with the proven B.E.G. microwave (radar) detector. This is invisibly integrated into the unit. Also available are the AL60-LEDN LED lights without detectors, which can be controlled via the detector-fitted lights. 13

LUXOMAT Greater protection PD9 in waterproof IP65 lights control professionals B.E.G. has expanded the range of applications for the PD9 mini motion and occupancy detector series with a new IP65 cover. Its outside installation increases the protection rating of the PD9 detectors to IP65. All B.E.G. PD9 detectors that meet standard design IP20, can also now be installed in lights to the IP65 standard. The opening required for the PD9 is sealed to IP65 rating with this cover. Behind it, any PD9 detector with IP20 can be installed, as it is protected by the IP65 housing. The same is possible for splash-proof ceiling fittings. The manufacturer is still responsible for testing to IP65 afterwards. P12 This product is specially designed for the industry. The cover, which is unique in the market, enables greater cooperation between B.E.G. and lamp producers, through which the customer can be offered more design options. It guarantees the easiest way to install occupancy detectors in lights with high protection requirements, e.g. in industrial or exterior applications. 14

Company portrait B.E.G. Brück control Electronic professionals GmbH S ince 40 years, the family company founded in 1975 with its headquarters in Lindlar (near cologne) stands for quality and innovation with customer satisfaction at its heart. The foundation stone of the products within the comprehensive range was the development and production of emergency lights. Shortly thereafter the production of emergency systems followed. B.E.G. was one of the first companies in Germany to commence the production of motion detectors and automatic lights in 1986. Since then, B.E.G. has produced several generations of motion detectors mainly for outdoor use on buildings that help increase security. The growth in automated systems for buildings and the resulting increase in the demand for intelligent control led to an expansion in our range of daylight- and presence-depending occupancy detection. The cost reduction through energy saving and the protection of the environment plus the additional comfort factor are strong arguments for the use of occupancy detectors. lights, occupancy detectors, blinds and light switches, the self-developed KNX Room Controller RCT is used. The market for energy-efficient products, such as B.E.G.'s occupancy detectors, has been growing strongly for years. The new administration centre and its location next to the logistics centre offer the possibility to continue B.E.G.'s expansion.
