The Year of the Butterfly Garden In Marblehead 1 The planting of butterfly gardens made easier with For Seasons Butterfly Garden Kits designed by Marblehead s own Lauren Lautner is inspired by Douglas Tallamy author of Bringing Nature Home scheduled to give a talk at Abbot Library on October 4, 2011. Description & Order Form

INTRODUCTION Inspired by the upcoming October talk by Doug Tallamy, author of the best selling and influential book Bringing Nature Home, experienced gardeners and naturalists have joined together to offer a series of events related to butterflies and gardening throughout the year. One of our most important activities is to start as many native plant gardens as possible. With so many people in the community ready to provide you with advice, garden designs, plant kits, and assistance, now is a unique time for you to set up your own butterfly garden. Butterfly kits are available in several sizes to suit different sites. One thing to keep in mind is that native plants, like those in our kits, are perennials and come back year after year with no additional effort or expense. VISIT US ON-LINE Information on butterfly garden kits is available on-line at the link below along with a calendar and description of other planned events including wildflower walks and workshops. Spread the word to your friends and family members by sending them the link the wider its circulation the more impact our events will have. www.shortcourses.com/gardens/index.pdf WHERE TO ORDER Information tables have also been planned at the following garden club plant sales and other locations: CCMarblehead Garden Club plant sale on Saturday, May 14, 9 11 AM, at the Star of the Sea Community Center in Marblehead.
