3 Hazardous Locations Approval In North America, the device is approved for Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C, and D, and temperature class T3 in the 25 C to +40 C temperature range. To comply with the requirements of the UL Class I, Division 2 for hazardous locations, the SEL-3422 shall be installed on a flat surface of a Type 12 enclosure that is accessible only with the use of a tool and connected to the HMI port of the SEL-849. The SEL-3422 must be connected to the SEL-849, which is covered under ATEX Certificate No. DEMKO 17 ATEX 1832X. The SEL-3422 must be connected to the SEL-849 for hazardous locations suitability. To comply with the requirements of the European ATEX standard for hazardous locations, the SEL-3422 must be installed on the wall of the same ATEX certified enclosure as the SEL-849 in which any door/cover can only be opened by use of a tool and that provides a degree of protection not less than IP54, in accordance with EN 60079-0. The enclosure must be marked WARNING Do not open when an explosive atmosphere is present. For ATEX certification, the gasket must be aligned and installed properly. Failure to do so could allow for the ingress of dust or moisture. The SEL-3422 has not been evaluated for exposure to UV light and must be installed in a location where UV light is not present. The SEL-3422 is intended for panel mounting only. DIN-rail mounting is not suitable for hazardous location applications. 4 Panel Mount GASKET Note: To ensure that the electrical connections are completely enclosed, make sure the HMI is mounted with a gasket and that the enclosure has punch holes for the RJ45 connector and the screws. SEL-3422 Motor Relay HMI Date Code 20171110
5 Gasket Installation for the SEL-3422 Panel Mount Step 1. Remove the inner rectangular section from the gasket. Step 2. Peel off the paper to expose the adhesive. Step 3. Position the gasket, with the adhesive side to the rear of the SEL-3422, so that the gasket is inside the outer edge of the plastic casing and the four screw holes are inside the inner rectangle of the gasket. Step 4. Press the gasket to the rear of the SEL-3422 to create a seal around the edge of the SEL-3422. Date Code 20171110 SEL-3422 Motor Relay HMI
6 DIN Rail Mount Connection The RJ45 port on the rear of the SEL-3422 connects to the HMI port on the SEL-849 Relay and receives power from the HMI port. Connection to the relay requires an RJ45 Ethernet cable, such as the SEL-C627M, double-shielded, 600 V, MCC-rated, category 5e Ethernet cable, with a maximum length of 7.62 meters (25 feet). When the relay is turned on, the HMI displays the status of each LED, as shown in the product photo in Overview. Refer to Section 8: Human Machine Interface and Section 1: Introduction and Specifications in the SEL-849 Instruction Manual for more details on the HMI operations and specifications. NOTE: Make sure the relay, HMI, and SELBOOT firmware revisions are compatible. Refer to Appendix A: Firmware and Manual Versions in the SEL-849 Instruction Manual. Accessories Note: DIN rail mounting is not suitable for hazardous location applications. For customizing the LED labels on the SEL-3421/SEL-3422 modules, order Configurable Label Kit, P/N 915900268. Order P/N 915900269 for replacement screws, DIN rail clips, and DIN rail supports for as many as five SEL-3421/SEL-3422 HMIs. The SEL-3422 does not ship standard with an SEL-C627M Ethernet cable.
