WHO ARE WE? We are a Directorate for Planning, Innovation and Evaluation named GPIA. We are responsable for the managing of one part of national founds applied to accessibility, mobility and transport. We support the National Focal Point for EPOMM In This Direction We are a small team and we have now been working only, for two years.

I - WHAT HAVE WE DONE ALREADY? We organized a large national debate about Green Paper towards a new culture for urban mobility - with workshops in the two portuguese Metropolitan Areas A National Answer to the Comission (CE) very Participated Porto about 300 persons Lisboa about 500 persons Implementation of a site to receive contributions: A mailing list around 17.000 e-mails 100 comments and contributions for national reflection Final document commented by 32 national experts in land use, environmental, transport, planning.

I I- WHAT HAVE WE DONE FURTHER? We participated in the discussion and elaboration of a few plans related to Climate Change Energetic efficiency Intelligent Transport systems Eco- driving Electric mobility Air quality in the two metropolitan areas We participated in the elaboration of Regional Land Use Plans in the 5 Regions Plan. We participated in the definition of types of projects to be presented to the QREN- National Strategic Framework 2007/2013 (structural founds from EU), were we inscribed several mobility projects types.

OUR MOBILITY STRATEGY AT THE MOMENT We asked ourselves How can we contribute for better practices in favor of sustainable mobility? Or, how can we qualify and develop deepen the planning and the action, at a local level, with this aim in mind? To answer those questions we have chosen 2 main fields First one: paying special attention to the integration of sustainable mobility in the land use planning process (PMOT): PDM, PU e PP Second one: paying special attention to specific sector plans strategic lines, Plans, Programs and Projects in the field of Accessibility, Mobility, and Transport. 26-03-2010 14

HOW ARE WE DOING THIS? 4 Teams of consultants Hearings with 12 national experts on Urbanism, Environmental and Transport Planning. Hearings with local authorities, regional and governamental administration Hearings with companies that are doing Travel Plans

FUTURE - 2010 April First day An International Mobility Conference in Portugal Presentation of mobility strategies; Presentation of studies results; 2 round tables with Portuguese experts who discussed with and advised the consultant teams Second day Several presentations from invited international experts - practitioners on sustainable mobility in Europe. At the end of the conference Presentation of EPOMM National Platform for Mobility Management Ceremony with few of national partners.
