Electronics Cost: $10 fee starting July 1, 2015 TVs Computer monitors Laptops No charge Computer peripherals: CPUs, mice, printers, etc. Audio and video equipment Phones-cordless, cell phones, iphones Rechargeable products-tools, toothbrushes, toys and Bloomington facilities Limit: Five of the same type per year Batteries Limit: Place clear tape over terminals or put in individual plastic bags Media Computer disks, DVDs, CDs, Blu-ray discs, video cassettes, audio cassettes Game cartridges Secure Digital (SD) memory cards, flash drives Plastic cases, jewel cases Ink jet and laser toner cartridges Vinyl records Propane/gas cylinders Limit: Only one-pound, non-refillable containers 1

Tires Cost: $3 each and Bloomington facilities Limit: Less than 4 in diameter; no commercial tires Scrap metal and no payment for scrap metal Who: Households and businesses Limit: Grills Lawn mowers Pipes and poles Metal shelving Bed frames Must remove all non-metal parts and drain all fluids before bringing scrap metal to facility. You will NOT be allowed to remove non-metal parts and fluids on-site, which includes the recycling area or parking lot. Mattresses and box springs Cost: $15 each all sizes Where: Accepted at the Brooklyn Park facility only 3

Recycling Who: Households and businesses Limit: Businesses limited to one pickup truck load of recyclables per week. Plastics Bottles, jugs, cups, containers (empty, rinsed) Metal Food and beverage cans Paper Mail, office, school; magazines and catalogs; newspapers and inserts; phone books (limit 100); shredded paper in closed paper bag; boxes like cereal, cracker, gift, toiletry, etc. Glass Bottles, jars Plastic bags (clean, dry, placed in open bag) Cartons Milk, soup, broth and wine cartons; juice boxes Cardboard Who: Households and businesses Limit: Flatten boxes; preferred size 3 x 3, households limited to one pickup truck load per visit; businesses limited to one pick-up load of recyclables (including cardboard) per week Cords and lights Electric cords and string/holiday lights 4

Organics Cost: No charge facilities ONLY Tuesday-Friday Who: Limit: Households and small businesses only Not accepted on Saturdays. Must be generated in Hennepin County Accepted from county residents and small businesses only. Must be separated from trash and recyclables. Five bags per person per day. Must be in a closed, BPI-certified bag.* Food scraps including meat and bones Food-soiled and non-recyclable paper products napkins, towels, tissues; plates, paper (fast food wrappers, parchment paper, etc.); boxes from refrigerated and frozen food and beverages; pizza boxes; coffee filters and grounds, tea bags; gift wrap. Recyclable paper and cartons are NOT accepted in organics and should be recycled. BPI-certified compostable plastic utensils, cups and containers* Other items paper vacuum bags, dryer lint, human and pet hair; wooden toothpicks, ice cream and corn dog sticks, chop sticks; cotton balls; house plants * Learn about Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) certified items at www.hennepin.us/organics. 5

Go to our A-to-Z How to Get Rid of It Guide for households: www.hennepin.us/atozdisposalguide Hennepin County will not accept waste from businesses which includes condominium, neighborhood, or townhouse associations; governmental entities; home-based businesses; nonprofit organizations; rental properties; or any other activity intended to produce income. Hennepin County will not accept waste from commercial activities that was generated or stored in a household.
