DAIKIN ALTHERMA - LOW TEMPERATURE (LT) HOW DOES THE DAIKIN ALTHERMA AIR TO WATER HEAT PUMP WORK? Daikin Atherma LT Spit A / OUTDOOR UNIT : AN EFFICIENT USE OF ENERGY FROM THE AIR Daikin Atherma uses a natura source of energy. The outdoor unit extracts heat from the outside air and raises its temperature to a eve high enough to suppy heating. This heat is then transferred to the indoor unit through refrigerant pipes (thus, the additiona advantage is that the pipes can never freeze). The compact outdoor unit is easiy instaed and, as no driing or excavation work is required, it can aso be instaed in fats and apartments. B / INDOOR UNIT : THE HEART OF THE DAIKIN ALTHERMA SYSTEM The indoor unit heats the water that circuates through ow temperature radiators, foor heating systems or fan coi units and aso provides domestic hot water. If you opt for the combination of heating and cooing, then the indoor unit can aso decrease the water temperature to distribute a refreshing cooness. 3 / DOMESTIC HOT WATER TANK : FOR LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION As for your domestic hot water, Daikin Atherma is just as cever. The unique ay-out and specia pacement of the system components maximise energy efficiency. The water inside the storage tank is primariy warmed up by therma energy from the outside air, thanks to a heat exchanger connected to the heat pump. However, an additiona eectrica heating eement in the domestic water tank can take care of extra heat required in the shower, tub or sink. At necessary intervas the water is automaticay heated to 70 C to prevent the risk of bacteria growth. With Daikin Atherma you can enjoy deightfuy warm and perfecty safe water at a times. Daikin Atherma LT Monoboc 2 / MONOBLOC OUTDOOR UNIT: ALL IN ONE In addition to Daikin Atherma outdoor and indoor unit systems, Daikin has introduced a monoboc version in which a hydrauic parts are ocated within the outdoor unit. In this new system the water pipes, rather than refrigerant ines, run indoors from the outdoor unit, making instaation much quicker and easier for the instaer. 4 / SOLAR KIT - optiona The soar kit provides the transfer of soar heat to the Daikin Atherma hot water tank via an externa heat exchanger. In contrast to tanks with two heat exchangers, this system aows the entire content of the tank to be efficienty heated with soar heat and, if necessary, with heat pump energy. 5 / SOLAR COLLECTOR - optiona The high-efficiency coectors transfer a the short-wave soar radiation into heat as a resut of their highy seective coating. The coectors can be mounted on the roof ties. 6 / ROOM THERMOSTAT - optiona With the wired or wireess room thermostat, the idea temperature can be easiy, quicky and convenienty reguated. An externa sensor (EKRTETS) can be paced between the under foor heating and the foor, as an option to the wireess room thermostat. DAIKIN ALTHERMA - HIGH TEMPERATURE (HT) - AIR TO WATER HEAT PUMP A / OUTDOOR UNIT: AN EFFICIENT USE OF ENERGY FROM THE AIR The outdoor unit extracts heat from the ambient outdoor air. This heat is transferred to the indoor unit via refrigerant piping. B / INDOOR UNIT: THE HEART OF THE DAIKIN ALTHERMA SYSTEM The indoor unit receives the heat from the outdoor unit and further increases the temperature, aowing water temperatures up to 80 C for heating through radiators (fied suppy) and for domestic hot water use. Daikin s unique cascade compressor approach to the heat pumps (one in the outdoor unit/one in the indoor unit) means optimum comfort at even the codest outdoor temperatures, without the need for an eectric back up heater. 2 - DOMESTIC HOT WATER TANK: FOR LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION Daikin Atherma s high water temperature is idea for heating domestic hot water without the need for an additiona eectric heater. Rapid heating of domestic hot water aso means smaer boiers are needed. For a famiy of approximatey 4 peope, the standard tank (EKHTS200A) is the best soution. If the soar energy is not required immediatey, the purpose-buit hot water tank (EKHWP) can store arge quantities of heated water for up to a day for ater use as domestic hot water or for heating. DAIKIN HEAT PUMP CONVECTOR FOR LOW TEMPERATURE APPLICATIONS Daikin s heat pump convector with interink function addresses a common heating efficiency probem. In we-insuated new residences, a combination of under foor heating and ow temperature radiators is one of the most efficient heating soutions on the market. This soution, however, is not perfect. The ow eaving water temperatures important for efficiency are adequate for under foor heating, but the room radiators (in e.g. bedrooms) then need to be oversized in order to emit the proper eves of heat at these ow water temperatures. To address this issue, a heat pump convector soution with an interink function is introduced. The heat pump convector is abe to emit the required eves of heat at ow eaving water temperatures, whie retaining a modest size. Instead of the eaving water circuit being switched on and off via a thermostat in a singe master room, each convector can be directy wired to the Daikin Atherma indoor unit, the system s inteigence centre. This aows a rooms to have heat when required, regardess of the state of the other rooms. DAIKIN ALTHERMA HIGH TEMPERATURE SERIES FOR APARTMENT BUILDINGS AND COLLECTIVE HOUSING Current cimate contro soutions for apartment buidings suffer from high running costs, high primary energy consumption and thus increased eve of CO 2 emissions, as we as the ack of cooing option. In response, Daikin now brings to the market its renowned air-to-water Daikin Atherma heat pump efficiency and comfort on a scae suitabe for arge residentia buidings. PRELIMINARY PICTURE Outdoor unit The Daikin Atherma High Temperature series for apartment buidings and coective housing is abe to efficienty heat (with eaving water temperatures up to 80 C), coo (with fan coi units or under foor heating) and produce domestic hot water. Its remarkabe efficiency (COP s up to 3.5) is due to its abiity to recover the heat stored in the outdoor air. Domestic hot water tank temperatures up to 70 C are possibe, and the unit can aso coo, with eaving water temperatures down to 5 C. The use of this system resuts in a 34% reduction in primary energy use, 62% ess CO 2 emissions and 44% ess operating costs compared to an equivaent gas boier system. The Daikin Atherma High Temperature series for apartment buidings uses a centraised outdoor unit (or mutipe units as need) to feed individua indoor units for each apartment. Since the connection between the outdoor and indoor units is sma diameter refrigerant piping versus the arger water pipes required in other systems and no chimney is required, a minimum sized utiity shaft is a that is needed. Buiding heights (from rooftop outdoor unit to owest apartment) of 50 metres can be accommodated. The indoor units are quiet (40 dba) and suitabe for instaation in a sma technica room of 2 m².
