Command Staff held their monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 13 th Headquarters Stion 31. The VRFA Civil Service Commission conducted their monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 13 th City Hall. The Accredition Cegory Managers met on Thursday, March 15 th Headquarters Stion 31. Administror Robertson and IT Manager Smith tended the monthly Valley Communicions Center (VCC) Advisory Committee on Technology on Thursday, March 15 th VCC. On Thursday, March 15 th, Administror Robertson tended the Area Chamber of Commerce s Open House the Rainbow Café in. Members from the VRFA and Valley Professional Fire Fighters Local 1352 tended the annual Noon Lions Dinner Auction on Surday, March 17 th Emerald Downs in. The event benefits the sight and hearing grant programs for residents in the greer area.
This Week: Deputy Chief Gerber and Finance Director Horaski tended a meeting with the Federal Emergency Management Agency on Tuesday, March 20 th in to prepare for the winter storm cost recovery submission. The Civil Service Chief Examiner will conduct the Assessment Center testing to establish the eligibility list for the position of Fire Captain. Administror Robertson will tend the VCC Opering Board meeting & Zone 3 Chiefs meeting on Thursday, March 22 nd VCC. 911 Requests for Services / Customer Service: Police Assist: () On Monday, March 12 th 3:05 p.m., firefighters assisted Police and Federal Way Bomb Unit as standby during the safe removal of explosives found in a shed behind residence. Motor Vehicle Accident: (Algona) On Tuesday, March 13 th 2:21 p.m., firefighters responded to a two car motor vehicle accident with injuries. Firefighters treed two pients and both were transported to Regional Medical Center (ARMC), one by VRFA firefighters and the other by prive ambulance Aid Call: (Pacific) On Wednesday, March 14 th 1:20 p.m., firefighters responded to an elderly female who was complaining of severe abdominal pain. The pient was evalued and then transported in stable condition to ARMC via prive ambulance. Garage Fire: () On Thursday, March 15 th 2:20 a.m., firefighters responded to a garage fire. Firefighters found smoke and flames coming from a detached garage behind a residence. All occupants from the residence were evacued. The fire was contained to the garage and
extinguished. The cause of the fire was accidental. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters. Aid Call (Pacific): On Friday, March 16 th 4:49 p.m., firefighters responded to an elderly female complaining of shortness of breh. Firefighters treed the pient and she was transported to ARMC by prive ambulance. Aid Call: (Lakeland Hills) On Surday, March 17 th 12:15 a.m., firefighters were dispched along with Police for a welfare check on an elderly female. Firefighters examined the pient and it was determined th further medical evaluion and trement would be necessary. The pient was transported to an area hospital in stable condition by prive ambulance. Aid Call: (Lea Hill) On Sunday, March 18 th 4:19 p.m., firefighters and King County Medics assisted an elderly male experiencing chest pressure. Personnel treed the pient and he was transported to a local hospital by prive ambulance. Assistant Fire Marshal Lee tended a joint interagency meeting consisting of VRFA, Police Department, City of Building and Washington Ste Liquor Control Board concerning overcrowding within certain A3 assembly occupancies within.
Fire Marshal Stottlemyre completed CPR / 1 st Aid Training. FMO staff tended Web Based training regarding Flammable / Combustible Liquid storage and use. The Web Based Training was jointly sponsored by the Washington Ste Fire Chiefs and the Washington Ste Fire Marshal s Associion. Public Educion Fire crews continued teaching fire and life safety lessons to kindergarten classrooms in the VRFA service area. Lakeland Hills, Pioneer and Gildo Rey elementary schools received visits this past week. Scheduling continued for fire and life safety educion visits to first and third grade classrooms. A press release was issued for Firefighter and Fire Officer of the Year as well as a garage fire. Facebook updes regarding the Clothes 4 Kids drive and VRFA Awards Reception were posted. Fire Investigion: During this reporting period, the South King Fire Investigion Task Force (SKFITF) responded to one (1) call for service in the VFRA response area. A candle is the most probable source of ignition of a detached garage fire in SE. A male was asleep in the garage the time of the fire. No smoke detection device was found in the improvised sleep quarters. The fire was ruled accidental. Planning and Logistics P&L staff provided a review of proposed changes to our Fire Resource List to DCs Gerber and Swearingen. Staff will provide additional reviews to the Btalion Chiefs their monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 13 th. P&L actively began working with DC Gerber and IT staff on organizing da collection reled to the WSRB project.
