Cylinders 02 03 Electricity the energy source of the future Renewable energies will become the norm for the future of energy supply as more and more people recognise the benefits of green and self-generated power from renewable sources. The goal of the energy transition is independence from fossil fuels Fossil fuels are in decline on the electricity market too harmful to the climate and ever more scarce. Nowadays, alternative energies using the sun, wind and water are being used to generate green power. So it is only logical to act in good time to convert the largest energy consumer in your home the heating system to these futureproof forms of energy. As nearly 80 % of energy consumed in the home is used for heating and hot water, this makes perfect sense. So there is plenty of scope for implementing the energy transition in your own home.

We love it when our children come home for the weekend. The fact that they bring mountains of washing with them, and then all queue up to use the shower is not a problem. We always have enough hot water thanks to our system cylinders.

Cylinders 04 05 Storing renewables sensibly Cylinders are not only made to store heat, they can also guarantee the efficient operation of a heating system or a heat pump. When it comes to thermal stores, we generally differentiate between buffer and DHW cylinders. Whilst buffer cylinders are designed for central heating backup, DHW cylinders are used in order to ensure a reliable provision of domestic hot water. A few points to observe when selecting the right cylinder The heat source employed: Most cylinders have been specifically designed for use with heat pumps. Subject to type, they can also be used with oil or gas heating systems. Suitable SOL versions permit the integration of solar thermal systems. The size of the cylinder: A cylinder that is too small leads to the heat generator cycling under full load for short periods. This frequent cycling of the heat generator has a negative effect on efficiency. An oversized cylinder increases the standby energy losses unnecessarily. Getting the size of cylinder right, therefore, really matters. However, it is not always possible to find room for two cylinders. That s why STIEBEL ELTRON offers integral cylinders as they are particularly space efficient. With these, buffer cylinder and DHW cylinder are combined in a single appliance.

Cylinders 08 09 SBBE WP (SOL) The SBBE DHW cylinders represent the state of the art. They achieve first class efficiency ratings as a result of their advanced thick thermal insulation and standby energy losses are approximately 50 % lower than those of their predecessors. SBB WP (SOL) SBB WP cylinders are designed for providing domestic hot water in detached and two-family houses in conjunction with a heat pump. These cylinder solutions stand out on account of their excellent efficiency and high DHW convenience. Cylinders 10 11 SBB WP SOL Our first class cylinder solutions enable two-family houses and apartment buildings, as well as commercial buildings, to be supplied with DHW in combination with larger heat pumps. A booster heater (flanged immersion heater) can be retrofitted just in case. DHW CYLINDER: THE RIGHT CYLINDER FOR LARGE HEAT PUMPS Solar tanker The SBB WP SOL enables solar heat to be used on a grand scale. A nominal capacity of up to 1000 litres facilitates the storage of the heat yield, including even that of larger solar thermal systems. SBB (SOL) The SBB DHW cylinder has been designed for combination with a large heat pump, linked by the WTS E loading station. However, it can also be used in conjunction with a solar thermal system or a gas or oil boiler.
