NETWORK POWER MONITOR Release : 21 August 2014 Hardware Version : Version 7 Firmware version 1.00 PC Application Software : Version (latest)...2 Added password for IP setup page : Password must be in IP format! Added General settings button in Tower monitor program Added IP address (default or user configured) to string data of NPM- The user can now select if the IP address of the NPM- unit must be automatically detected in the packet header that is transmitted or to retrieve the units IP address from the string data that is transmitted. Some routers or gateways block the NPM- unit IP address resulting in the data being received at the Remote host computer but with the IP address of the gateway or router. Under General settings: Tower IP detection Automatic : IP address of NPM- will be detected in header packet (select if IP is not blocked by a router or gateway)user must still enter the IP address of the NPM unit in the tower setup window
Use data as specified in packet : IP address will be retrieved from the string data send from NPM-R6 unit (select if IP is blocked by gateway or router) user must still enter the IP address of the NPM unit in the tower setup window Hardware Description : The Network Power Monitor was designed as an aid for Network owners to indicate and detect power related issues at remote sites. Measurements : 1. Battery input voltage 12v to 24v and 48v (10 Bit A/d) 2. Charge current to Battery input (30A NPM -30) - or (100Amp NPM -100) 3. Temperature sensing range : - 20 to + 100 deg Celsius 4. Mains 220 Vac monitoring indicating present or not. 5. 1 x Normally closed Tamper Alarm contact input...3
Setup instructions : Connect +12vdc or +24vdc (use correct terminal as per drawing) and ground supply power. Network power monitor Rev7 will be displayed Keep Factory reset button pressed (top of board behind LCD) and switch on +12v or +24v power supply, Keep to Reset will be displayed, after 3 beep sounds Default settings loaded appears on the LCD, release the factory reset button. Default Factory settings will now be loaded and displayed on the LCD as: Remote host : 192.168.11.1 / configure your pc LAN IP address to this Device IP : 192.168.11.20 / IP address of unit The MAC address of the LAN Port will be displayed on the Lcd. Message Starting Network on Port 12 will be displayed, where after about 2 seconds the Ethernet Port will be ready....4 The Heart beat Led should start blinking
Web Browser (eg. Internet Explorer): Enter the default IP address of the unit into the search bar : 192.168.11.20 and connect After successfully connected to the LAN port the web configuration page will display. IP address setup tab : Enter a password in IP address format - your password should look like 10.0.0.1 - or 192.168.11.50 etc The unit will also display the status of all measurements on the web configuration page. After Network settings is changed click the Update button. The settings saved screen will display and indicate the new saved IP address of the unit The unit will indicate Re - Boot while rebooting to load the new configured settings User settings Loaded will be displayed from now every time the unit boots up and the user s programmed IP address and Remote Host addresses will be displayed, unless a factory reset is done again.
...5 Monitoring Screen Mains : On 23.4 C BT: 13.6v I: 2.32A Top Left: Mains : On if mains is present Mains off if mains is not present Top Right: Temperature displayed in degree Celcius Bottom Left: Battery voltage max 16v if 12 v input used Battery voltage - max 30v if 24v input used Battery voltage - max 60v if 48v input used Bottom Right: Current flow measured : 0 30 Amps Dc max(for NPM--30) or 0-100Amps Dc max(npm- -100) charger current to battery. High side current monitoring loop positive supply through unit Every 18 seconds a packet of 21 Bytes is transmitted over Ethernet in UDP protocol The following screen will be displayed : UDP Data Send Ok
****The unit will detect a Faulty or no LAN connection condition here and the following will be displayed or if the host IP is not found on the network *** NO LAN CONNECTED! Or No Host found The unit will restart to try and re-establish a LAN connection again I/O expansion Port (Future use) A 10 way IDC connector have been added and gives flexibility to expand to other modules or interface s for future expansion 8 I/o ports (supports analogue input ), pin 9 and 10 = 3.3v and Gnd supply power output. Temperature Input: A solid state temperature device is used and extendable with 3 wires 220Vac Input Live and Neutral 220Vac input only monitored - does not supply power the board Optically Isolated input the unit will monitor the presence of mains supply. The 220vac input is fuse and G-mov protected Charger +In and +Out Loop the charger positive output through the unit to detect current flow Connect charger + to +IN on pcb. Pcb +Out connects to battery + ALARM input This is a normally closed alarm input the board already supplies power on the alarm input so the user should only connect a potential free switch type contact. The Alarm input will only be activated after the first data packet was successfully sent over Ethernet.
Should the contact be opened the unit will transmit the Alarm data immediately, Alarm tones will notify user the alarm condition is active. This is a continuous loop until alarm condition restores. Only alarm data will be send out in 3sec intervals and only once the alarm condition is restored the Battery voltage, charge current etc will be updated and send out over LAN Port again. Tamper Alarm! Alarm Data send Installing the Software Run the.zip file - Tower monitor setup this will install Tower monitor on the system follow instructions on screen. Select Add tower to add a tower line double click the tower line to alter any settings for the specific tower. Select Remove Tower to delete a tower entry. Setup Emails to receive e-mails for any alarms generated by the unit (eg. Low battery volts below user setting temperature above user setting Tamper alarm and 220 Vac failure) with date and time stamp should the alarms have been enabled for this in the setup menu of a tower line. Under e-mail settings also select if fault restored e-mails should be send with date and time stamp the moment the fault have been cleared. Selecting Station button the user set a station name for the software display on top left of screen. Select list or block view alters the display window user defined
In the tower setup menu after a double click on the tower line, Tower name : Enter a user defined name for the tower Tower Ip Address : Enter the Ip address for the unit as programmed onto the hardware NPM unit Mains Alarm enabled : Mark this if 220vac is monitored at the site and an alarm condition have to be send in case of failure, mains condition will still be monitored even with the checkbox unselected. Battery Alarm level (Below): Enter the Battery voltage where an alarm condition should be generated for a low battery voltage condition in decimal.eg : 11.3 or 10.5 etc. Temperature Alarm level (Above): enter the value in degrees Celcius for alarm condition to be generated in case of temperature above user setting. Eg : 40 or 35 Tamper Alarm Enabled: Select the checkbox should the tamper alarm be activated, The Software will respond to tamper alarm data received from NPM. If un checked the software will still receive tamper alarm data from the NPM unit but will not respond to it. Log Data if enabled keeps a 48hr graph of battery voltage and charging current Log Faults : if enabled keeps record of alarm conditions that occurred for each tower line E mails can also be setup to send a mail to a specified address as in the users e-mail settings list as soon as a alarm condition exists, the user can also select to receive another e-mail as soon as the alarm condition have been cleared
General settings tab : Select automatic IP address detection of the unit if no blockage of the IP address occurs on the network Select use data as specified in packet if gateway or router is blocking the NPM address.
