Piddington Pod FREE 16 27 September Oxo Tower Wharf Courtyard Using upcycled copper cladding, UCA graduate Christina Piddington is installing a large scale copper pod, representing sanctuary, somewhere to rest, recuperate and relax. Diaspora Dynamics: The 2015 AACDD Bargehouse Festival FREE 16 20 September 11am 6pm Bargehouse The AACDD (African and African-Caribbean Design Diaspora) festival returns to Bargehouse this year exhibiting the dynamic talent of African and African-Caribbean designers and artists created within the diaspora. Art, design, film, photography, and textiles will flood all five floors of the building during the 6th edition of this festival of creativity. There will also be a programme of workshops and seminars taking place as part of the festival.
Free exhibitions Designersblock London 2015 FREE 23 27 September 11am 6pm Bargehouse Designersblock London 2015 will feature over 50 independent designers exhibiting furniture, lighting, ceramics, textiles, illustration, graphics, jewellery and concepts. Additionally Designersblock have been collaborating with Arts Thread to promote the work of a selection of talent from the world s largest graduate network. Imagination Lab FREE 17 20 September 11am 5pm Platform Oxo Tower Wharf Courtyard Imagination Lab is a unique space for children aged 5-11 years old and their families to apply their imagination to unlock our future. Using animation clay, paper craft, 3D-printed figure models, and a digitally painted projection globe, children can create out-of-this-world models and designs for our future universe. Run by The Institute of Imagination in partnership with People United and funded by the Clore Duffield Foundation. JAPANESE KOKEDAMA WAGUMI 19 27 September (closed 21 September) 11am 6pm Unit 1.08 Staff from specialist Japanese craftsmanship and design shop Wagumi will show you how to create and maintain a traditional Japanese kokedama (moss ball) plant display for your house and garden and how it can be combined with Arita porcelain. Kokedama made in store will be available for purchase. You ll be able to customise your own pashmina, hear daily talks on eco design using recycled materials, and learn more about the environmental manufacturing processes. On display will be the new Redux collection, made from recycled rubber. Prints Charming: Drop-in printmaking workshop outside Southbank Printmakers (weather permitting) 23 September, from 4pm, Unit 12 Have fun creating your own design onto a printmaking block and pulling a handmade, original print to take home. Led by Sally Cutler, member of Southbank Printmakers Gallery, a professional printmaker and experienced art tutor. Suitable for all ages. 5 per participant (includes all materials).
