Jan 1999- Jan 2001: Principal Civil Engineer for disaster reduction due to flooding problems in Irian Jaya Province (with 10 subordinate Staffs) in the Department of Water Resources Development, Ministry of Human Settlements and Regional Infrastructure, Jakarta, Indonesia. My main task was mitigating the impacts of flood disasters in rural and urban areas e.g. loss of life and property by constructing river dikes, river embankment, constructed groins, and other riparian structures. I, with my subordinate staffs, planned and supervised the implementation of 12 flood control infrastructure projects with total budget of IDR 25 billion in 1999, 15 flood control projects with IDR 30 billion (USD 3 million) in 2000, and 14 flood control projects with the budget of IDR 32 billion. All the projects were successfully completed and well function up until these days. Page 7

Jan 1998- Jan 1999: Assistant Director for Water Supply and Sanitation in West and Central Kalimantan Provinces (with 12 subordinates) in the Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Human Settlement and Regional Development, Indonesia: I and my team planned and supervised the implementation of 6 rural water supply and sanitation infrastructure projects with total budget of IDR 5.6 billion in 1998, and 8 urban and rural water supply projects with total budget of IDR 6 billion in 1999. The Project Manager, under my coordination and supervision, implemented the project. The projects were successfully completed as per planned and served the rural communities up until these days. Jan 1996- Jan 1998: Assistant Director for Water Management (with 15 subordinate staffs) in the Department of Water Resources Development, Ministry of Public Works, Jakarta, Indonesia: I with my team planned and implemented the concept of river basin based water resources management with pilot projects in Cimanuk-Cisanggarung, Ciujung-Ciliman, Progo-Opak-Oyo river basins. The project was later expanded to Jeneberang, Way Seputih-Way Sekampung, Cimanuk and Citarum river basins. Disaster management was part of the system since most of the above rivers created natural disasters from their seasonal flooding. The outcome results of this project were the establishment of numerous Basin-wide water resources management institutions all over Indonesia. Integrated water resources management within a river basin boundary minimizes the possibility of water use conflicts, and manages this precious resource efficiently. Mitigate the impacts of flood disasters by constructing necessary structures. Jan 1995- Jan 1996: Assistant Project Manager for Planning (with 10 subordinate staffs) in the Jeneberang River Basin Development Project, Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia: I with my team updated and expanded the Project Master Plan for water resources development in Jeneberang River Basin, South Sulawesi. We also developed seven detailed plans of local rural water resources development within the basin. The plans included necessity infrastructure, projection of quantity of water required for various sectors, possible vulnerable areas from flooding, and other necessary supporting activities. Aug 1993- Jan 1995: Hydrologist and Flood Control Engineer in the WER (Water, Environment and Resources) Agra Calgary, Alberta Canada (a private company), stationed in Calgary (Canada), Jakarta and Surabaya (Indonesia): I involved in various water resources and environmental projects in Indonesia e.g. Development of Flood Control Guidelines, North Sulawesi Water Resources Infrastructure Development Project, and other Asian and African countries. These Guidelines are now transformed into a nation-wide flood control policy. Jan 1991-Aug 1993: Training Module Developer, Cambridge Education Consultant, United Kingdom, stationed in Jakarta and London: I developed seven training modules in hydrology, wetlands development, irrigation, and flood control. Mar 1988-Jan 1991, Engineering Staff, Binakarya Engineering Consultant (state-owned Company), Jakarta, Indonesia: I led my team in preparing detailed design of flood control infrastructure projects in Ciliman (Banten Province), Sei Ular (North Sumatra Province), Bolaang-Mongondow (North Sulawesi Province), and two detailed design of wetland development projects in Southeast Sulawesi.
