Our equipment meets the latest requirements of the European standards series EN 61779, which evaluates the performance of gas detectors and control units (response time, accuracy, resistance to poisons, alarm activation, etc.). Trust us to help you choose a solution that complies to the ATEX 94/9/EC directive for safety equipment. REGULATIONS The European directive ATEX/1999/92/CE regarding protection of the health and safety of workers that could be exposed to the risk of explosive atmospheres went into effect on July 1, 2003. Written into national law by the various ministries responsible for work in the EEC, it specifi cally requires that the employer perform the following functions: Determine the danger and assess the risks (resulting in classifying zones); Take specifi c measures to ensure safety and protect the health of workers exposed to ATmospheres EXplosives (ATEX - Explosive Atmospheres); Guarantee a safe work environment and, when workers are present, ensure appropriate monitoring based on the risk assessment; Publish an Explosion Protection Document, which lists, for example, the Important Safety Equipment that is used to limit or prevent the formation of ATEX. Applicable to new workplaces since July 1, 2003, all work places requiring employee protection in an ATEX zone must be in compliance by July 1, 2006. Nearly all industrial sectors are involved because most industrial processes could result in the formation of explosive atmospheres. The Oldham line of transmitters/sensors meet the highest security levels of SIL2 (EN 50402 for series 20-40-50, EN 50271 for series 60).

GAS HAZARD PREVENTION OLC 20D AND OLC 50 COMBUSTIBLE GAS DETECTORS When combined with an Industrial Scientifi c control unit, OLC 20D and OLC 50 detectors are inexpensive solutions for measuring explosive gases. High temperature versions can be used up to 200ºC. The units are extremely resistant to poisons, robustly designed, and easy to install and connect. The OLC 20D and OLC 50 are widely used in all types of industries and in gas and dust ATEX zones. OLCT 20D, OLCT 40 AND OLCT 50 MODELS OLCT 20D, OLCT 40 and OLCT 50 transmitters are used for detecting combustible or toxic gases and oxygen. OLCT 50 These detector-transmitters use the same precalibrated sensor block. They are available in explosion-proof or intrinsically safe versions for use in gas and dust ATEX zones. OLCT 40 SERIES 60 The OLCT 60 transmitter is designed to detect combustible or toxic gases and oxygen. Equipped with a local display, it features non-intrusive calibration to reduce maintenance costs and limitations associated with performing service in ATEX zones (no need for a fi re permit, for example). The OLCT 60 is explosion-proof and can be equipped with an optional intrinsically safe sensor for more effective detection of certain toxic gases. OLCT 60 OLCT 60D Measurements can be taken in Zones 0 or 20 when this sensor is installed remotely (up to 15 meters), such as in the OLCT 60D version. The OLCT 60 can also be used in conjuction with our OLCT IR infrared gas transmitter. This unique combination offers you reliability (MTBF of the OLCT IR is 28 years) and user friendliness.
