SPRING HAS SPRUNG! Epicurean Color Robert Allen brings nature home Tactile Luxury Plush new textures by Beacon Hill PLUS Contract Indoor/Outdoor & new Custom Furniture frames INTRODUCTIONS 2018 / Volume II
NICE TO MEET YOU Stephen Levine, Creative Director Robert Allen Duralee Group Whether launching his own furniture line, overseeing creative for Rose Tarlow, directing design for Donghia or leading product development for Frontgate, our new Creative Director Stephen Levine has worked in nearly every facet of this industry. Now, he s ready to venture in a new direction with the Robert Allen Duralee Group. Tell us about your background. I m actually an engineer. I had my own construction company in South Florida, then I met an architect whose passion was furniture and we started a company. I m not a trained designer so following this path from creating homes to designing furniture and textiles has been a dream journey. Why leave retail to join RADG? When I met Lee (Silberman) and Marty (Rosenberger), we had this instant connection that felt like family, and it inspired me to make the jump knowing they needed someone to push the boundaries. It s as much about design as it is empowering people to think differently. Thoughts on the industry today? It s a we moment how we all want to evolve. Former legends are struggling to reinvent the shopping experience; the showroom is just one facet now. It s more like retail, which is about providing products to as many people as possible. We have to honor the heritage of to-the-trade but find a bridge to the retail/wholesale experience and educate a new generation who may not know our legacies. Working on any exciting projects right now? One of my priorities is to establish RADG as a destination for everything design, as we offer an expansive and diverse range of fabric, hardware, trim and furniture. There s also talks of capsule collections which are exciting because they re truly one-of-a-kind offerings. I m excited to showcase Epicurean Color in this issue because it reinforces Robert Allen as a leader in color and is one of the first of many new and exciting collections that will position RADG as an industry leader. A WARM & COMFORTING DEBUT FROM COLOR LIBRARY EPICUREAN COLOR What is your role at RADG? I m here to inspire bold ideas, and collectively with my team, create a new vision for Robert Allen and Duralee, two iconic brands, to re-imagine them in ways that have never been seen before. What is the biggest opportunity for RADG? Upholstery! To realize that we are the only textile company in the industry that makes our own upholstered pieces, giving the designer the ability to create anything they can imagine, is truly impressive. 2 RADG 3
EPICUREAN COLOR The warm, comforting hues of nature s harvest are at the heart of Epicurean Color the latest Robert Allen collection. As with every addition to the Robert Allen Color Library, the fabrics are dyed, woven and printed to our exacting color specifications thanks to a close partnership between our design team and our mills.
