Commissioning Commissioning Set up The incubator is conceived as a table-top device. Ensure compliance with the requirements placed on the base area (see Technical Data ) and lateral clearance from the walls of 10 cm. The incubator can be wallmounted using the drill template included in the scope of delivery. In accordance with the valid VDE-requirements, this incubator is not suitable for areas with danger of explosion. Connect device Connect the power cord of the device to a grounded socket. This should be protected on the building side with 16A. Observe the following precautions when handling the power cable and plug: Never damage or alter the plug or power cable. Never operate the autoclave if the plug or power cable are damaged. Never unplug by pulling on the power cable. Always take a grip on the plug. Operating the device Switch on Switch power on (Illustr. 1 (4) I = ON.) The signal lamps (3) and (4) lighten up. Signal lamp (3) shows the automatic working procedure of the thermostat (see Operating temperature ). The green lamp (4) lights during the entire operating time which indicates that power is on. Switch off Switch power off (Illustr. 1 (4) O = OFF). The signal lamps (3) and (4) expire. Operating temperature The temperature of the interior of the incubator is displayed on the thermometer. This is the only valid temperature value. The regulator always deactivates a few degrees before the set temperature is reached, thereby reaching the set end value slowly. Achievement of temperature equalization leads to brief illumination of the signal lamp (3) repeated at long intervals. Temperature equalization (temperature balance) across the entire interior requires approximately three-four hours even for an empty incubator (e.g. at 37 C). Change temperature NOTE The incubator is only calibrated to the temperature of 37 C. The other markings on the thermostat scale only give approximate positions. The thermostat regulates the heating already at + 10 C. Because of the mostly higher ambient temperature (room temperature), the scale of the thermostat shows just the area from 30 C 60 C. To set different temperatures than 37 C please act as followed: 1. Loosen the locking screw on the thermostat knob. The temperature limit is lifted. 2. Turn the thermostat knob to the desired temperature and turn the locking screw firmly to adjust the new stop. 7
Transport and maintenance Transport and maintenance Decomission and transport DANGER Danger of burns Do not touch any metal parts after opening the door. Proceed as follows to take the device out of service and to transport the device: 3. Switch power off (Illustr. 1 (4) O = OFF). The signal lamps (3) and (4) expire. 4. Remove the power plug and allow the device to cool. To recommission after a change of location or repair, please proceed as described in section Commissioning. Always use the original packaging for transport purposes. Failure to do so could result in damage. Cleaning The trays and racks and the chamber including the door should be inspected thoroughly at least once a week for signs of damage or soiling. If necessary, wipe out the interior chamber using a lint-free cloth and lukewarm water. Do not use abrasive cleaning pads, steel wool, or brushes. Withdraw the trays and racks before cleaning the interior chamber. The gaskets of the incubator can be cleaned using small amounts of mild commercial steel cleaning agent or ethanol. The cleaning agent must not contain chlorine and should not be alkaline.
