Anita All Access Club Toile de Jouy: Embroidery on Handmade Paper Saturday, March 11, 10:00am - 2:00pm About the Toile de Jouy Collection The Toile De Jouy Collection was released from Anita Goodesign in November 2016. The collection consists of 17 elegant scenes that are all stitched in one single step & in one single thread color! You will find numerous scenes ranging from flowers, birds and guitars. The designs in the Toile de Jouy Collection are all hand digitized and use only one color of thread. The designs were created using a unique 4-ply stitch that when finished look bold so that all of the details stand out. Toile designs have been around since the mid-18th century which shows these designs never fade out. All 17 toile scenes are available in three sizes. Sizes are indicated with letters: A is the largest; B is smaller than A; and C is the smallest. All designs can be stitched on most any fabric and on various projects. But what appealed to me was they could be stitched on paper layered over card stock. Embroidering on paper is exciting - takes you off the traditional embroidery path and teaches you so much about embroidery! About Our Toile de Jouy Project Our class project is framed artwork. The project is stitched on card stock which is covered with handmade paper. I ll bring the decorative paper and the card stock. You can choose the design. Focus in the class will be on accurate design placement when using multiple layers of embroidery canvas (stabilizer, card stock and handmade paper) and on methods to frame the finished design. G Most of the paper I will bring (see note below) is light colored (gold, silver, off white) but I do have four sheets of luscious chocolate brown paper. G For this type of design, you want a thread color that contrasts and enhances the background. Use your imagination: dark red, light navy, dark gold. On the chocolate paper, a medium blue, aqua or even pink would be amazing. NOTE: Better reserve the chocolate brown paper ASAP Bobbin Thread G If opting for a light color paper, bring white bobbin thread. G If opting for the chocolate brown paper, bring a black bobbin thread. Tools and Notions G A flexible ruler - Quilt & Sew Ruler G A pencil ( #2 or mechanical) G KK2000 temporary spray adhesive.
