Drop in Sink A sink that is lowered into a cut out space in the countertop, along with the sinks rim, which allows it to rest on the counter, clamps are located underneath the sink for added support. Elongated Toilet Bowl A larger toilet seat that provides more comfort for adults. Frameless Shower Door A frameless shower has no metal around the door and must be attached by hinges only. GFCI Plugs A safety device that breaks the circuit if electricity becomes ungrounded. This plug is used in place of normal electrical outlets in areas that are more prone to shock. Grout A thin paste used for filling spaces between wall or floor tiles. There are several types of grout: sanded, unsanded, acrylic latex, or epoxy. The type of grout used is determined by the width of tiles and location of the repair.
Grout Sealer Used to protect tile grout from hard use. Prevents absorption of water in the grout which can cause mildew and mold. Hand Held Shower Head A shower head connected to a hose that comes in different lengths. Hand held shower heads can be used as a fixed head but when taken off the cradle can be used to a number of things such as washing pets, children, or cleaning the tub. Hardie Backer Cement board used to prevent mold and moisture damage in wet areas. Mixing Valve Blends hot water with cold water to make sure the bath and shower temperatures stay constant. One or Two Piece Toilet One piece toilets combine the tank and bowl into a seamless design and two piece toilets are more of the traditional look of a separate tank and bowl.
Pedestal Sink Has a column-like base that supports the sink that it mounted on top. Partial foots are small and have an opening between the foot and the back wall, while solid foot bowls extend all the way to the wall. Steam Shower A type of bathing that uses a humidifying steam generator to produce heated water vapor. A steam shower is a steam room but has the same design as a normal shower. Tank Less Toilet Uses water directly from a supple line connected to the toilet bowl instead of using a tank of water to clear waste. These toilets are smaller in size, quiet, and there is not a tank to refill. Thermostatic Valve A valve that helps to regulate a desired temperature. It can be used to control the output temperature of water from a faucet or it can maintain constant temperature in a room.
Toilet Fixture inside a bathroom that is attached to a plumbing system that flushes waste away. Tub A wide and deep bath room fixture that is meant to hold water for bathing. Under Mount Sink A sink that is installed under the counter top. This installation leaves no rim between the counter top and sink. Vanity A cabinet that holds the sink and the plumbing, typically has shelves and drawers for storage. Vanity Countertop The flat surface that sits on top of the vanity. Countertops can be made from granite, quartzite materials, laminate, tile, and wood.
Vessel Sink A sink that sits on the counters surface. It is different than most styles of sinks because the basin of the sink is higher than the surface of the counter top. Wall Mount Sink Attached to the wall, and typically include a shroud to cover any visible piping. Wall mount sinks are good for smaller bathrooms. Wall Mount Toilet Toilet that is attached to the wall, and has concealed tanks and minimal footprints. These toilets save at least a foot of space, and have a more seamless look. Wall Tile Piece of hard wearing material such as stone, metal, ceramic, or even glass that is used to cover walls. Water Proofing A combination of materials or systems that prevent water from entering or leaving a certain area of a building. This method is used to prevent water damage.
