Each year in the United States, patients contract nearly 1.7 million infections in the hospital while they are being treated for something else. These Healthcare-Associated Infections (HAI) result in nearly 100,000 patient deaths per year. ¹ Research conducted at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, Madison, identified that 77% of reusable ECG leads were contaminated with one or more antibiotic-resistant nosocomial pathogen. 2 Clinical alarms have been identified as one of the top 10 Technology hazards. 3 The American Journal of Emergency Medicine reported that 99.4% of monitor alarms were determined to be false and less than 1% of monitor alarms resulted in a change in patient management. 3 A national survey conducted on the impact of clinical alarms on patient safety reported that a large portion of respondents identified false alarms as problematic because they disrupted patient care and reduced trust in the alarm information. 4 In response to these growing concerns, Covidien developed the Kendall DL Disposable ECG Cable and Lead Wire System. Telemetry Monitoring Diagnostic Monitoring Bedside Monitoring

Kendall DL Your Disposable ECG Cable and Lead Wire Safety Solution. Reduce Your Risk of Cross Contamination with Reusable ECG Cable and Lead Wires Avoid patient exposure to multiple reusable ECG cables and lead wires Only system to provide complete protection by going from the patient to the monitor versus just to the cable Replace reusable cables and lead wires with a completely disposable single patient use system Meet Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Society of Healthcare Epidemiologists of America (SHEA) recommendation to use dedicated patient specific non-critical equipment 5,6 Assist with The Joint Commission (TJC) National Safety Patient Goal of Reducing HAIs by implementing evidence-based practices 7 Customer Survey: One third of survey respondents reported that infections were reduced when Kendall DL was incorporated as part of their infection control strategy 8 Reduce Your Risk of False Leads Off Clinical Alarms Only system to provide clinicians a locked on mechanism to the electrode which creates stronger electrode attachment Fully shielded system reduces the risk of electromagnetic interference (EMI) creating artifact resulting in false alarms Meet American Association of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) recommendation of medical devices being configured to minimize nuisance alarms 3 Assist with TJC requirement to implement a clinical alarm management strategy 7 Customer Survey: 40% of respondents reported lead pop off alarms were reduced by half after converting to Kendall DL 8

Help reduce the risk of cross-contamination while monitoring your patients on the move. Kendall DL Disposable Cable and Lead Wire System with Complete Transition Hospital Wide Clean: One lead set travels with the patient through their entire hospital stay Easy: Transition between bedside and telemetry monitoring Simple: Easy product conversion using a disposable system and reusable adapter

93% of customers were very satisfied or extremely satisfied with their experience using Kendall DL Disposable Cable and Lead Wire System for monitoring their patients. 8 Universal Adapter Remains with the monitor No charge item No replacement costs Proximal to the patient Standardized Connector Design Helps facility standardization and consolidation of cables and lead wires Patented Push Button Design Stronger electrode attachment Reduces the risk of false leads off alarms Pressureless Electrode Attachment No pressing on patient Added comfort for patient Lightweight, Peelable Fully Shielded Ribbon Cable Complete protection from the risk of cross contamination from patient to monitor Reduces EMI for optimal signal quality Eliminates yoke connection of lead wire and cable which can collect contaminated body fluids and harbor Multi-Drug Resistant Organisms (MDRO s) FEATURE BENEFIT Single patient use (disposable) from patient to monitor Dual connect option for bedside to telemetry transition Provides better electrode attachment Push button design for electrode attachment Fully shielded system Peelable Ribbon design Lightweight design Standardized connection design Easy-to-read labeling Unique product color Reduces the risk of cross contamination from reusable cables and leads, improving patient care and cost control Disposable system with complete transition hospital wide Reduces the risk of lead wire disengagement ( pop off ) Lead wires can be attached to any electrode without pressing on the patient, improving patient comfort Electromagnetic interference (EMI) risk is reduced Can be customized to fit any patient size and lessens lead wire tangling More comfortable for patients to wear Provides cost-effective standardization and inventory management solutions Facilitates easy connection and lead placement Easy to verify connection points and components

Push button design for secure electrode attachment Direct connect version for telemetry monitors Patient to monitor for complete protection Dual connect to switch between bedside and telemetry monitors ITEM CODE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION ADAPTER REQUIRED PACKAGING 33103 Disposable 3 Lead System X 10/box, 100/case 33105 Disposable 5 Lead System X 10/box, 100/case 33110 Disposable 10 Lead System Kit X 5/box, 50/case 33111 Disposable Chest Leads (V-leads) X 10/box, 100/case 33112 For Use With Disposable GE Telemetry System - Direct Connect 10/box, 100/case 33113 For Use With Disposable Philips Veridia TM* Telemetry System - Direct Connect 10/box, 100/case 33114 For Use With Disposable Philips IntelliVue TM* Telemetry System - Direct Connect 10/box, 100/case 33125 For Use With Disposable 6 Lead GE Apex TM* Pro CH Telemetry System - Direct Connect 10/box, 100/case 33126 For Use With Disposable 6 Lead GE Apex TM* Pro FH Telemetry System - Direct Connect 10/box, 100/case 33132 For Use With Disposable 5 Lead Draeger Dual Pin - Direct Connect 10/box, 100/case 33133 For Use With Disposable 5 Lead Spacelabs Telemetry System - Direct Connect 10/box, 100/case 33134 Nihon Kohden 6 Lead Telemetry - Direct Connect 10/box, 100/case 33135 Disposable Dual Connect Cable and Lead Wire System X 5/box, 50/case 33136 Disposable Dual Connect Lead Set X 1 each 33144 Single Telemetry Lead Disposable X 10/box, 100/case 33145 Disposable Dual Connect Cable X 1 each 33136R36 Disposable 5 Lead Radiolucent 36 X 10/box, 100/case 33136R72 Disposable 5 Lead Radiolucent 72 X 10/box, 100/case www.kendalldl.com 1 Yokoe, DS et al (2008).
