ase Study SkylineSwitchBoards make a durable solution for patient-care markerboards at Memorial Hermann Memorial City. Planning for the lifespan of a patient room means thinking carefully about long-term solutions or else risking expensive replacement costs. At Memorial Hermann Memorial City Hospital, communication boards were integrated into the footwall millwork during the original construction of the patient tower. The markerboard surface developed ghosting problems within a year, which impaired clear communication. Such damage leaves information visible from prior patients, putting patient privacy at risk. The staff resorted to ad hoc solutions, using adhesive film to re-cover the surface, and when that failed, simply taping sheets of paper to the surface. The results were unsightly and difficult to read, compromising the patients experience and safety. After years of trying to find solutions for an adaptable markerboard, Skyline Art Services created a product that meets our needs and provides complete flexibility for years to come.
