A Divine Project Of Classic Modernism Chicago-based designer Donna Hall channels the dark glamour of 1920s Chicago in her latest interior design project featuring KOKET Washington, D.C. March 2016 Since 2001, Donna Hall, principal of Donna Mondi Interior Design has been successfully creating interiors with a delicate fusion of European Classicism and American Modernism. In her most recent Chicago project, Hall s inspiration is the sultry charm of Roaring Twenties Chicago, taking advantage of the unique architecture of the space. The overall inspiration came from the era of the 1920 s in Chicago. I always take cues from the architecture of a space and then twist it in a modern way, says Hall. Her interiors are composed of bold elements layered with textures and patterns, but with a cohesive feeling that runs throughout the design. One of her noted design signatures is to play with the ceiling design or the 5th wall as seen in the Dining Room of this project. Hall covered the ceiling in an ethereal Maya Romanoff wallcovering while painting the surrounding walls in a glossy black lacquer to reflect light throughout the oval shaped room. KOKET Goes Ethnic Chic A charming Amsterdam canal house is transformed by the designers at Ethnic Chic using KOKET pieces Imagine strolling along Amsterdam s picturesque streets; old bridges create pathways through canal waters lined with charming row houses. It is in one of these attractive row houses where Robin Toetenel and Ingrid Steyrer, the design duo forming Ethnic Chic, revamped an empty house into a warm and sophisticated space while incorporating some KOKET pieces into the design. The result is a truly stunning canal house, full of custom furniture, lavish fabrics and nishes and quality craftsmanship. Ethnic Chic was originally opened in 2004 as a boutique in the heart of Amsterdam, selling unique and compelling home décor. After many requests for interior design projects, Toetenel and his rst business partner began dabbling in interior design, and thus a designer was born. The canal house project was worked on day and night to be completed within the 3-week timeframe. Custom furniture was own in from all over the world to add cultural soul and character to the space, challenging the designers to nd new products and brands. One of these exclusive brands is KOKET, whose tempting pieces are seen in the bedroom and living room designs of the canal house. The living room shape has grand ceilings and large windows which the designers used to their advantage. Decorated in tones of aubergine, the designers placed two matching Burlesque consoles on either side of the living room s marble replace. Plans for the future As KOKET continues to grow and mature, 2018 is set to be another groundbreaking year! To kick the year off KOKET launches the Love Happens magazine and 11 stunning new designs at Maison & Objet Paris in January. The quarterly print and online magazine, stemming from the brand's acclaimed Love Happens Blog, is focused on luxury lifestyle from a timeless and feminine perspective and strives to empower women around the world. The magazine features an inspiring KOKET lookbook at the back and will offer a shoppable Brands We Love section in its digital form. As 2018 progresses many new designs will be launched and debuted at exhibits in March at the Architectural Digest Show in NYC, in April at High Point Market in North Carolina and isaloni in Milan, and in the Fall at Decorex in London. KOKET continues to be a darling in the United States, captivating audiences with a global infusion of culture, trends and glamour. Stay tuned for new exciting partnerships in 2018!
