FDOT: Improving Mobility & Safety in Central Florida FDOT is Designing and building a better I-4 through Central Florida Improving mobility and safety on 60 miles of I-4 from Polk County into Volusia County I-4 Ultimate (opening 2021) Wekiva Parkway (opening 2021) I-4 Beyond the Ultimate, North and South
I-4 Beyond the Ultimate Two 20-mile sections on either end of I-4 Ultimate North: S.R. 434 to east of S.R. 472 in Volusia County South: Kirkman Road to west of U.S. 27 in Polk County North and South sections divided into 6 segments Have received Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study approval Currently in preliminary design May be broken into different construction segments based on available funding Right-of-way needs are being identified and acquisition is underway

New Roundabouts in Sanford I-4/U.S. 17/92 interchanges is being moved to the south, closer to Orange Boulevard West Seminole Boulevard (old U.S. 17/92) will feature two new roundabouts replacing current traffic lights
Advantages: Safety: reduces the number of conflict points for u-turning traffic, Traffic flow: u-turning traffic bypasses two traffic signals and avoids crossing local traffic twice New Traffic Patterns: Texas U-turns
