LEDLUX PUSH-BUTTON LED DIMMER SKU# 290997 Rated Voltage 220-240V~ 50Hz Thank you for purchasing this quality Lucci product. To ensure correct function and safety, please read and follow all instructions carefully before using the product. Please keep instructions for future reference. Warranty This product is covered by a 12 month warranty. The warranty is from date of purchase, not the date of installation. Please retain proof of purchase. The use of non-compatible luminaires as stated in the installation requirements section may damage your product and will void your warranty. Warranty will be void if there is any damage due to improper usage or modification to the fitting. Failure to comply with the instructions in this manual may increase the risk of damage or injury and will void warranty. Installation requirements Must be installed by a licensed electrician All wiring and installation of the light fitting must adhere to local and national wiring rules. eg. AS/NZS 3000:2007/Amendment 2:2012 Electrical installations This product is designed for use with LEDlux dimmable LED lighting equipment. Where the loads are on the same electrical circuit, Mains 240V dimmable LED retrofit luminaries with a dimmable LED driver must be used. NOTE: A dimmable electronic transformer is NOT considered to be a dimmable LED Driver. NOTE: The use of non-compatible luminaires may damage this product and will void the warranty. This product is not suitable for LEDlux LED colour shifting fittings, as the function requires full ON/OFF switching to provide CCT colour shifting function. Do not exceed the rated output load listed below: - For Mains 240V LEDlux dimmable LED globes and downlights: - For Mains Halogen globes: - ELV halogen with dimmable transformer: Do not exceed rated power input specification. Not suitable for use with ferromagnetic transformers. This product is suitable for indoor use only. Tested and is compatible for use with HPM Series XL and Clipsal 2000 Series switch faceplate only. Installation preparation Before carrying out the installation the following must be considered: A wall plate or wall mounting box (not supplied) will be required for installation, depending on how the dimmer will be mounted e.g. behind a wall or surface mounted. Refer to Installation requirements for suitable switch plate that this dimmer can be attached to. Check whether the dimmer has been damaged during transport. Do not operate/install any product which appears damaged in any way. Return the complete product to the place of purchase for inspection, repair or replacement. Ensure power to the circuit you are working on has been switched OFF at the switchboard before commencing any electrical work. 1 P age v1.0
Installation directions WARNING HIGH VOLTAGE - This electronic push-button dimmer does not provide full disconnection/off-state. The circuit on the load side of the dimmer should be considered live. - Power to the circuit must be switched OFF at the switchboard before carrying out installation. Household power can cause SERIOUS INJURY or DEATH. - Wiring must meet all local and national electrical wiring codes. MAKING THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS (see Fig.1) 1. Disconnect electrical power to the working circuit at the switchboard. 2. Remove existing switch. 3. Connect 240V ~ mains A to L of the push-button dimmer. 4. Connect of the dimmer to the load. 5. Connect the LOAD N to the 240V~ mains N. 6. Operate the dimmer to ensure it is performing. Adjust the variable resistor to optimise the dimming range for the connected load 7. Refit the push-button dimmer onto existing faceplate. 8. Refit the faceplate onto the wall NOTE: Different type loads can be connected in a series, up to the maximum rated output per load type as outlined in the installation requirements section of this manual. Variable Resistor NOTE: The Variable Resistor on the LEDlux Dimmer allows correcting and Fig. 1 Wiring Diagram maximising dimming range when using the LEDlux Dimmable LED product range from Beacon Lighting. NOTE: An isolation device must be included in the wiring installation. The isolation device allows disconnecting of the dimmer and loads from the mains 240V AC power during maintenance and cleaning of the product. 2 P age v1.0
Operation ON / OFF Push and release the push-button to turn the dimmer ON or OFF. DIMMING - Push and hold the push-button to dim up or down. Release to stop dimming. - While dimming, the LED light indicator will flash quickly in small burst of 4-5 flashes. This indicates that the dimming is at the minimum or maximum brightness, and will then start dimming in the opposite direction. Trouble shooting SYMPTOMS PROBABLE CAUSES SUGGESTED REMEDY 1. Does not work. 2. Flickers when dimming. The push-button dimmer has been turned OFF. Mains power is not restored to lighting / dimmer circuit. The dimming load does not meet the minimum/maximum rated loading of the dimmer. At minimum setting the dimmer circuit provides very little voltage/current. This is common and will cause flickering. Push the button to switch the dimmer on. A light will light up, indicating the dimmer is on. Replace the fuse or turn on the circuit breaker at the switchboard. Increase/reduce the loading by adding/removing more products onto the same dimming circuit, so that the loading is within the rated minimum and maximum dimming load. Refer to installation requirements section. Adjust variable resistor to suit the load, which draws additional current to the dimming circuit which will reduce the flickering. This may reduce the dimming range, but will offer light performance stability. 3. Dimming range is not good. Example - Cannot dim down to 0% light. All LEDlux dimmable LED drivers are different in specification. The LEDlux dimmer has a variable resistor to adjust the input voltage/current into the dimming circuit with the variable resistor which can allow dimming to 0%, or near 0%. Adjust the variable resistor. This will improve the dimming range to zero or near zero light output. LED performance may reduce slightly; however, the dimming range will be improved. Compatibility issues - other dimmable LED drivers may not be compatible to dim to near zero. Adjust the variable resistor. This will improve the dimming range, however, may not achieve zero % dimming. 3 P age v1.0
