S-Guard system monitors the heating-up process of your sauna heater. If the sauna heater is covered with some object(s), S-Guard will detect this and will switch off the heater (through the sauna control unit). The S-Guard system shall be mounted outside sauna cabin, e.g. in a plant room, and shall be connected with the included temperature sensors. During installation the system shall be calibrated to the installed sauna heater, so that it learns and stores specific information such as the unique heating curve. fter the sauna heater is switched on, the sensors of S-Guard will monitor the temperature development process. If the measured values differ even insignificantly from the stored heating curve the heating will be interrupted within seconds, wird der ufheizvorgang innerhalb von Sekunden abgebrochen. Thus the potential sauna fire will be prevented. Delivery scope Standard delivery includes: 1. S-Guard control unit 2. Connection cable (5-core), 5 m 3. Limiter cable 2 x 0,5 mm², white, 2 m 4. Sensor holder with - 2 sensors - 2 connection cables, red, each 2 x 0,5 mm², 5 m ttention: It is forbidden to install the control box in a closed switch cabinet or behind a wooden panelling! The electrical installation may be done only by a qualified electrical technician. You must comply with the regulations of your power supply company and applicable VDE regulations (DIN VDE 0100). WRNING: Never attempt repairs or installations yourself, as this could result in serious injury or death. Only a qualified technician may remove the housing cover. Please observe the dimensions given in the present instruction, especially when installing the temperature sensor. The temperature above the oven is critical for the temperature setting. The temperature can be only held within pre-set parameters and minimal temperature deviations around the bench area of the sauna cabin can be only achieved if this unit is installed correctly. Completely disconnect the control unit from the electrical circuit, i.e. flip all circuit breakers (on all phases) or the main circuit breaker during each installation or repair. Please note the safety and installation information by the sauna oven manufacturer. 1 2 3 4 D 3

How S-Guard works During the heating of the sauna cabin the temperature increase curve (heat-up curve) will be measured and stored in the memory. The S-Guard system will be then calibrated to the measured values of the heat-up curve. Later by each heating up from cold state the S-Guard will check the current temperature curve against the calibrated one. If in the case of deviation of the current temperature curve from the calibrated values, even if it is very small, e.g. when some object covers the sauna heater, the heating process will be interrupted. Calibration of S-Guard fter the S-Guard and the sensors are installed as per installation manual, it is necessary to calibrate the system. The requirements for calibration are as follows. T C kalibrierte Temperaturkurve abweichende Temperaturkurve Zeit - The ambient temperature, also inside sauna cabin, may not exceed 25 C at the moment when the heating start. - No objects should be placed on the sauna heater - The sauna door should be closed tightly - The sauna control unit shall be set to dry (Finnish) sauna mode with the highest possible temperature. Calibration: - Open the S-Guard housing - Connect the power to the sauna control unit (connect to power supply, put the Switch-Off switch to working position) The S-Guard printed circuit board is under voltage! Risk of electric shock! - The sauna control unit is now ready and will display the error of the overheating limiter. The S-Guard is not yet calibrated. Status LED indications: - red LED lights up for 5-10 sec - green LED out - yellow LED lights continuously - red LED out - green LED blinks - yellow LED lights continuously 32 D

Error during heat-up phase In the case if their is a deviation from the memorized heating curve (e.g. a towel covers the heater), the S-Guard system will interrupt the heating process. The sauna control unit will display the error message for the overheating limiter fault (e.g. E211 error). - red LED lights continuously - green LED lights continuously - yellow LED lights continuously - red LED lights continuously - green LED out - yellow LED lights continuously D 33
Trouble-shooting Switch off the sauna cabin from power supply completely using the Switch-Off switch. Rectifi y the fault (refer to the manuals for sauna heater or control unit if necessary). Switch on the Switch-Off switch back to normal working position. Restart the operation of the sauna cabin. - red LED lights continuously - green LED lights continuously - yellow LED lights continuously New calibration (re-calibration) Normally it is not necessary to repeat the once carried out calibration. However if the sauna construction has been changed (e.g. sauna heater replaced or repositioned) it is necessary to re-calibrate the S-Guard system. To do so proceed as follows: Requirements for calibration (re-calibration): - The ambient temperature, also inside sauna cabin, may not exceed 25 C at the moment when the heating start. - No objects should be placed on the sauna heater - The sauna door should be closed tightly - The sauna control unit shall be set to dry (Finnish) sauna mode with the highest possible temperature. Calibration: - Open the S-Guard housing - Connect the power to the sauna control unit (connect to power supply, put the Switch-Off switch to working position). 34 D
