Number F-2.0 Issued: 1/2009 Revised: 9/2013 Page 1 of 3 1.0 PURPOSE: To minimize the risk of injury by providing emergency eyewash and/or emergency shower stations at all manufacturing facilities and to comply with ANSI #Z358.1-1998. 2.0 POLICY: All Euramax facilities shall have emergency eyewash stations. If the facility uses corrosive materials, emergency showers will also be provided. 3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES: A. It is the responsibility of the Facility Leader to ensure compliance with this procedure in its entirety. B. It is the responsibility of all Employees to follow the requirements of this procedure. 4.0 PROCEDURE: A. All employees will be trained along with a demonstration in the basic operation and use of emergency eyewash equipment and emergency showers (if applicable). This training will be conducted as part of a weekly safety meeting (see Procedure D-4.0: Weekly Safety Meetings) and in the New Hire Safety Orientation (see Procedure D-1.0: New Hire Safety Orientation). B. Eyewash stations will be located throughout all facilities and shall be accessible within 10 seconds of any workstation. C. Emergency showers (if applicable) will be located throughout all facilities and be accessible within 10 seconds of any workstations using hazardous chemicals and/or corrosive materials. The path from the workstation to the emergency shower must be unobstructed. D. Eyewash stations and emergency showers must be clearly identified using a pictogram sign. E. Eyewash must be accessible with unobstructed pathways. A no storage zone (3 x3 ) must be marked on the floor. All eyewash stations must be at least 6 from the wall and 33 to 45 above the ground.

Plumbed eyewash stations and emergency showers must be tested and inspected each week by a member of the Safety Committee (see Procedure E-1.0: Plant Safety Committees). Weekly inspections must be posted and documented at the station (see Weekly Eyewash/Emergency Shower Inspection Form). Portable (non-plumbed) eyewash stations and emergency showers must be visually inspected each month by a member of the Safety Committee (see Procedure E-1.0: Plant Safety Committee). Monthly inspections must be posted and documented at the station (see Monthly Eyewash/Emergency Shower Inspection Form). G. The test and inspection of eyewash stations and emergency shower(s) must include: 1. Ensure access to the station/shower(s) is unobstructed and a no storage zone (3 x3 ) is marked on the floor 2. Ensure the station is clean with dust covers to protect the unit 3. Ensure eyewash protection caps are intact and working properly 4. Ensure that a five (5) gallon bucket with a hose is attached, if no drain is available 5. Ensure the station functions properly for at least 45 seconds 6. Ensure that the solution additive is not expired / will not expire in the next 30 days and is at the correct level (after testing) 7. Water and additive must be changed every six (6) months for gravity fed units H. If an emergency eyewash or emergency shower must be used, a minimum 15- minute eye flushing or body rinse must be performed. I. Employees failing to comply with this procedure will be disciplined in accordance with normal progressive disciplinary procedures for the facility. 5.0 ATTACHMENT / FORMS: A.
