ESAD Smoke Control Duct System INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1.0 Installation of smoke control ducts, general quidelines Smoke Control Duct ESAD ESAD is CE-marked smoke control duct system for single compartment applications. ESAD duct is fire tested together with fittings and hangers. Smoke control ducts and fittings meet the classification E 120 S, pressure class 1500 Pa. For single compartment applications Sizes 010-100 cm Fire class E 120 S Easy installation To be used together with fire tested VELODUCT fittings 1.5. CE-marking mandatory for smoke control products Smoke control ducts, fittings and other duct components which are used for smoke exhaust purpose, are in scope of the harmonised product standard EN 12101-7 and have to be CE-marked. Please check before starting installation work, that all components are CE-marked. 1.1. Tightness of the duct work Tightness of smoke control duct work is very important. Please follow this installation instruction to be able to get result, which fullfills planned fire class. Please notice, that each joint has to be sealed additionally with aluminium tape, which guarantees tightness also in high temperatures (600 C). Veloduct sealing system together with aluminium tape seals all joints both in normal ambient temperature conditions and in fire situation. 1.2. Duct hangers ESAD smoke control duct hangers are fire tested. Instructions for material for hangers and distances between hangers have to be followed. 1.3. Flexible joint EFLE Duct work shall expand in length in higher temperatures. Flexible joint EFLE shall be used to eliminate these movements. The code is EFLE-aaa-1. Sizes 010-100 cm. 1.4. Veloduct duct fittings and other components Please note, that it is only allowed to use duct fittings and components (IRIS dampers) which are fire tested and CE-marked according to product standard EN 12101-7. The markings prove to the building owner that these products meet product standard demands for smoke control purposes for Single Compartment Applications. Select a suitable section of ducting and check that the duct can be installed in accordance with the drawing before collecting the necessary components from the storage area. Locate the screws / pop rivets at such a distance from the duct end that the rubber seal will not be damaged. Check the maximal distance K from table 2. 2.2. Collect the necessary fittings and ducts. Check that all parts are CE-marked. Check also that they aren t damaged in any way that would cause air leakage in the finished ducting system. 2.3. Cut the ducts with straight lines to the measured lengths. Deburr the duct ends thoroughly, using a deburring tool. Finally tape all joints carefully with aluminium tape, which has aluminium foil thickness at the minimum 30 μm and the width at the minimum of 50 mm. Type example Advance Tapes AT502. Lock the end of aluminium taping with screws or pop rivets. 2.4. Assemble suitable sections on the floor. To facilitate the fitting of one part into another, turn part while pushing it in. Lock the joints. All joints must be secured by means of pressure proof steel pop rivets or screws (min Ø 4,2 mm). The number of screws / pop rivets are specified in table 1. Duct hangers shall be installed not exceeding the maximum distances according to Table 3. Threaded rod strength class shall be 8.8 and diameter according to Table 3. Specified dimensions of duct fasteners have to be used for suspending the duct sections. Duct fasteners have to be made of galvanised steel, minimum thickness of 1,5 mm and width of 25 mm. Type example MÜPRO duct fastener with or without vibration control. See picture below. Suspending solution for the ESAD duct sections is based on results of official fire tests according to product standard EN 12101-7 for Single Compartment Applications. Fire class for ESAD and fittings and other components is E 120 S. Fire test temperature is 600 C. Duct fasteners with hangers should be placed always close to joints, if possible. 3.0 INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE After installation, when the system is running, it is recommended according to product standard EN 12101-7 that the following inspection procedure is carried out and recorded. These inspections should be undertaken at least once per year. See example of inspection record below. Ducts, fasteners, hangers and fittings are constructed of galvanised steel material for longer operating life. Inspections of sealings have to be made at least once per year. Special notice should be taken to inspect the condition of aluminium taping, which guarantees the tightness in higher temperatures. If any failure is detected, reparation work has to be done immediately.
