Domestic Hot Water System Replacement General: The scope of work includes the replacement of the existing Domestic Hot Water Generation Equipment including water storage and all associated piping located within the Mechanical Equipment room, roofing work, electrical work, controls and interlock etc. in a fully turnkey fashion. The contractor is responsible for obtaining all permits and all work shall comply with the Authorities having Jurisdiction (AHJ). Additionally all work shall comply with NFPA 54, NSF 61 and be certified as Lead Free. Install all equipment per the manufacturer s recommendations and guidelines. Submit shop drawings and design layout for owner review. Provide O&M manuals at the completion of the project. The project warranty shall be for one (1) year after substantial completion. See attached for the domestic hot water heater warranty. Existing Conditions/Demolition: The existing domestic hot water system to be removed includes a hot water storage tank (approximately 52 x52 x105 high), Teledyne Lars summer gas fired boiler (Model 7W1200) with circulating water pump, Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger ( with shell and tube side base mounted end suction pumps), Heat Exchanger support, concrete housekeeping pads, boiler flue, heating water piping to the heat exchanger, domestic water piping (cold water, hot water, hot water recirculation), piping insulation, hangers and valves for piping being removed, natural gas piping (to summer boiler only) and all associated interlock wiring and controls. The existing boiler flue shall be removed in its entirety and roof patched to match existing by a certified roofing contractor. The existing domestic hot water recirculation pumps serving the School and Kitchen shall remain and be reused. Similarly the existing mixing valve shall be reused and repiped. Disconnect all power and remove wiring back to the panelboard. New System: The new system shall be comprised of three (3) high efficiency gas fired water heaters to produce 140f supply to the kitchen and existing mixing valve which shall be balanced to supply 110f hot water to the school. All piping shall be type K copper with wrought copper fittings and lead free soldered joints. Provide 1 ½ thick fiberglass insulation for all domestic hot and cold water ping 1 pipe size and larger and 1 thick fiberglass insulation on all domestic water piping less than 1. All valves shall be full port, 2 piece ball type (Watts LFB 6080 or equal) up to 2 and standard port, 2 piece, ball type (Watts LFB 6000 or equal) for larger than 2. All valves shall be constructed using stainless steel trim and shall be certified as lead free. Check valves shall be swing type, lead free (Watts LFWCV) and install in the horizontal position. Balancing/Shut Off valves shall be lead free (Watts LCSM-61-S or equal). Expansion tank shall be pressurized type, ASME and lead free certified (Watts Series Delta). Each (Typical of 3) Domestic Water Heater shall be the high efficiency condensing style, 399,000 btu input, 125 gallon minimum storage volume, ASME stamped with ASME rated T&P relief valve, CSD-1 compliant controls, 120v/1 phase power and shall be manufactured by PVI or Bock. Install on 6 thick concrete housekeeping pad and provide condensate acid neutralization trap for each unit, pipe to closest floor drain. Install intake and exhaust vents individually for each water heater up through the roof per the manufacturer s recommendations. Provide 18 minim high roof curb for pipe penetration. Patch all roof openings water tight by a certified roofing contractor. Reconnect to the existing non interruptible rate gas service as recommended by the manufacturer. All gas piping shall be schedule 40 black steel, painted yellow, and installed per local code requirements and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Provide valved and capped connections and a location in the boiler for a future 200 gallon domestic water storage tank. April 20, 2015

CONQUEST Condensing Water Heater With a tank and heat exchanger constructed of AquaPLEX duplex stainless steel alloy, the Conquest water heater combines an advanced fuel saving design with the extended product life long desired by the owners of condensing equipment. Corrosion Resistance AquaPLEX is inherently corrosion resistant and entirely eliminates the need for a tank lining and anode rods, whether sacrifi cial or impressed current. Because there s no corrosion, there s simply nothing for an anode rod to do. And unlike 316L stainless steel, AquaPLEX is immune to chloride stress corrosion cracking, a known failure mode of 316L in potable water. Condensing Efficiency Effi ciency is accomplished through a down-fi red design beginning with a submerged combustion chamber and continuing through an array of helical fi re tubes. Combustion gases are counter-fl ow to the direction of the potable water. This enables the coolest fl ue gases to contact the coldest water and raises lowfi re efficiency to 99%. ACHIEVES HIGH EFFICIENCY IN THE LAB AND MAINTAINS HIGH EFFICIENCY ON THE JOB Upper Tank Circulator During burner operation, Conquest energizes an integral circulating pump that forces water across the heating surfaces in the hottest part of the tank. More aggressive contact between the water and heating surfaces improves effi ciency and the scouring action helps to reduce the buildup of scale. Circulation also helps to equalize tank temperature. NON-CONDENSING ZONE WARM WATER RETURN FITTING Both Warm and Cold Tank Connections Constant circulation of hot water into the cold fi tting on a condensing water heater lowers the effi ciency. Conquest provides a dedicated fi tting for connection to building return loops or side-arm tanks, maintaining two distinct temperature zones and allowing only the coldest water to enter the lower condensing zone of the water heater. TempTrac operating control Modulating burner Variable speed blower motor Proportional gas regulator Variable frequency drive VFD Modulation Increases Efficiency and Reduces Cycling During Low Demand To reduce burner cycling during periods of low hot water demand, the higher input (semi-instantaneous) Conquest water heaters employ burner modulation with a variable speed blower. This allows low fl ow conditions to be met with continuous, low BTU input and without short-cycling. The reduction in energy input also improves thermal effi ciency up to 99%. * Conquest's low standby loss is documented by independent third party testing to an ANSI standard as mandated for Energy Star certification. It's a FACT! During periods when nominal demand is only a few gpm, the at-temperature storage capacity of the Conquest heater can meet the hot water requirement for 20 to 40 minutes before a burner cycle is required.

Modbus Enabled Operating and Modulation Control The TempTrac electronic operating control allows the building s automation system to monitor and control the operation of the Conquest water heater through builtin Modbus RTU protocol. Network communicated points include operating set point (remotely adjustable), modulation rate and alarm status. At the water heater, the control displays set point, sensed temperature, fi ring rate and alarm status. All parameters are fully programmable. Custom communication gateways are available for BacNet and Lonworks building automation systems.
