04APPENDIX B Description This type of park should be privately developed, owned and maintained. A neighborhood park serves as a social and recreation focal point of a neighborhood. Neighborhood parks are within walking distance of homes. To maximize the benefit of this facility to the community, this type of park can be a standalone facility, an amenity associated with a trail or open space or located adjacent to an elementary school. Community parks are publicly owned and maintained. They provide a variety of active, organized, scheduled, and passive recreation activities and Town-wide events and tournaments. They may include concessions. Community parks include the West Park site, Desert Mountain Park, Founder s Park and planned parks in southeast and southwest Queen Creek. A community park is a social and recreational focal point for the community. Community parks are located on publicly accessible collector streets and are accessible by public transportation, personal vehicle, paths, shared-use trails, bike lanes, and sidewalks. East Park site is a Townwide park. Town-wide parks are publicly owned and maintained. They provide a wide choice of active recreation facilities for Townwide and larger events, tournaments, and scheduled and unscheduled recreation activities. They include concessions. Town-wide parks are a social and recreation focal point for the entire Town and the larger region. Town-wide parks are located on arterial streets and are accessible by all transportation modes. Specialty parks are unique or single-use facilities designed around a specific function or community asset. Specialty parks include Horseshoe Park & Equestrian Centre, and the planned Sossaman Cloud, Desert Wells Stage Stop, and San Marqui Parks. Specialty parks can be provided and managed by the Town or through a partnership with notfor profit or private entities with unique expertise directly relevant to the specialty park. 196

If fields for team sports are provided, designated areas for on-street parking adjacent to the park should be provided. At least one (1) of the following: Play Court Basketball Court (may be 1/2 court in parks less than two (2) acres) Tennis Court, Pickleball Court Volleyball Court Common elements such as restrooms, fields, and court, and uniform signing and design should identify these parks as Town-owned facilities open to the public.
