Your improved recycling collection service From May 2016, additional features to your household waste and recycling collection service are being rolled out. In Southend-on-Sea, we currently recycle around half 60% of our household waste. However, we want to achieve by 2018. To help reach this target, the improved recycling service is introducing a new collection service for your paper and card. We are also introducing a four-day collection week which will reduce the disruption caused to collection services due to bank holidays. Not everyone s collection day will change. All recycling and waste collection services including food, pink sacks and the new paper and card service will be collected on the same day. Further information about the four-day collection week can be found at: From next week, your scheduled collection day will be Friday

Frequently asked questions Why give out new boxes? Keeping card and paper separate from other recycling materials means we can collect a higher quality recycled material and produce higher quality paper and card products. Where do I place my box for collection? Please present all sacks, bins, and the new blue box on the boundary of your property by 7.00am on your scheduled collection day. Please do not place on the public footpath. I am worried that I will not be able to carry my box to the boundary of my property. What should I do? If you have difficulty placing any of your sacks, bins or boxes out for collection because you are elderly or disabled, please contact Southend-on-Sea Borough Council on: 01702 215006. I had a missed recycling or waste collection. What should I do? Your waste and recycling should be accessible and visible on the inside edge of your property by 7.00am on your scheduled collection day. If we didn t collect it and there is a sticker on it, please remove the unwanted items and the sticker, and present your sack again on your next scheduled collection day. If there is no sticker on it, please call Southend-on-Sea Borough Council on: 01702 215006 or report it at: www.southend.gov.uk/missedcollection If your missed collection is valid, we will return and collect within 24 hours from the time of the report.
