CONSERVATION EASEMENT Created in 2005 to protect and conserve the natural and historical integrity of the property Limits the following: Subdividing the property Commercial and industrial uses of the property Construction of temporary or permanent buildings Signage Creation of new docks Hunting Refuse collection Altering the topography of the land, including wetlands Removal of vegetation in designated buffers Alteration of protected vegetation Construction of roads Lighting Mining and excavation of land Threats to ecological and natural ecosystems Changes to the facades of two existing turn-ofcentury buildings
CONSERVATION EASEMENT Allows the following: Repair and maintenance of existing buildings and dock Nature-based recreation Forestry and agricultural uses that do not impact scenic quality of land New buildings less than 6,000 aggregate sf Routine maintenance of land Selective clearing for habitat enhancements, trails, and preservation of views Educational and/or directional signs Use by non-profit organizations Archaeology
VISION STATEMENT Old Towne Creek County Park will honor the heritage of the property by conserving existing site resources, minimizing site impacts, and providing passive recreation and interpretation opportunities.
GOALS Integrate program elements consistent with Mrs. Emily Farrow s stewardship of the property Minimize site impacts in accordance with Historic Charleston Foundation conservation easement Preserve and protect significant cultural resources on the site and highlight their historical context through interpretation Conserve and enhance existing vegetation and provide opportunities for natural resource education and wildlife habitat enhancement
GOALS Utilize sustainable site development and green building principles Minimize noise and other potential impacts to neighboring properties Maintain historic and natural continuity with Charles Towne Landing State Historic Site without duplicating programs and facilities
