Home Inventory Evaluation Having a home inventory can help document a loss, ensure adequate coverage. The simplest way to document loss of or damage to household goods is to create an inventory of your home s contents before something happens. This inventory will take some time to complete, but the frustration it could save you later will more than make up for that time. A good home inventory includes a detailed list of your possessions, including receipts, descriptions and photos, when available. Store it somewhere other than in your house. Save copies to an online storage account or external drive, and keep one in your safe deposit box.
