PROJECT BACKGROUND >> Recreation and Facilities Master Plan FIT Together Approved January 2017; Guides municipal investment in recreation services, programs and facilities over next 15 years; >> Recreation and Facilities Master Plan FIT Together initiative recommends the development of Master Plans for core recreational assets, such as Chapples Park. >> Park Specific Master Plans Chapples Park Master Plan 3
KEY OUTCOMES OF CITY-WIDE MASTER PLAN >> Identifies Chapples Park / Dalaney Arena as a key Recreation Zone, a central hub for recreation within the City. >> Chapples Park is priority location for new turf multi-purpose sports fields and an indoor tennis centre. >> Twinning of Delaney Arena and provision of infrastructure for major events. >> Baseball General decline in users. Adequate provision of fields elsewhere in City. Demand for ball diamonds can be accommodated outside of Chapples Park. >> Soccer Soccer remains largest sport (enrollment) in City. VISION STATEMENT Chapples Park is a city-wide destination for year round recreation, wellness, and open space. It is a hub that celebrates equity, inclusiveness, community, and recreation in a safe and fun environment. Through sound stewardship of assets and a focus on sustainability, the park will become a central hub for premier sports facilities, access to nature, and open space that can be enjoyed for generations.
