Metasys Integrator Metasys Integrator Cleaver-Brooks Application

lntroduction This document explains the Metasys Integrator Cleaver-Brooks application. Use this document with the Metasys Integrator technical bulletins in the Metasys Connectivity Technical Manual (FAN 69.) which provide information on installing and commissioning the Metasys Integrator unit. For information on Cleaver-Brooks boiler control panels, see Cleaver-Brooks documentation (obtainable from a Cleaver-Brooks representative). Note: If you are using a Universal Packaging Module (UPM), you must install the Metasys Integrator 00 Series in a two high enclosure (EN-EWC-0) rather than a one high enclosure (EN-EWC-0) as shown in the figures in this application note. Application Details ASCII Interface The Metasys Integrator unit allows Cleaver-Brooks equipment to become an integral part of the Metasys and Metasys Companion Networks. Once either a ASCII Interface or CB-General Purpose Interface (CB-GPI) and boiler control panels are connected to a Metasys or Companion Network via the Metasys Integrator unit, their data is available to the full complement of Metasys Building Automation System (BAS) features, including Change-of-State (COS) monitoring, alarm notification, trend, and totalization. The ASCII Interface allows information to be transmitted between boiler control panels and non-cleaver-brooks devices (such as the Metasys Integrator unit). A six slot CB-Link is required between the ASCII Interface and the boiler control panels. Optionally, you can connect a Enhancer to Slot 6. However, if you use a Enhancer, you must tie it into Slot 6, and you must then tie the ASCII Interface into Slot as shown in Figures and. Each Metasys Integrator vendor port can connect to one ASCII Interface. Each CB-Link can connect to five boiler control panels, or four boiler control panels and one Enhancer. Figure shows a Metasys Network with the Metasys Integrator unit connected to one ASCII Interface. Four boiler control panels connect to the ASCII Interface through Slots through on the CB-Link. A Enhancer connects to Slot 6 on the CB-Link. Figure shows a similar Cleaver-Brooks configuration integrated into a Metasys Companion Network. ump Note: For a single boiler, the ASCII interface can connect directly to the boiler control panel without a CB-Link. See your Cleaver-Brooks representative. Figure : Cleaver-Brooks Boiler Control Panel and Metasys Companion Integration ( ASCII Interface) CB-GPI You can also integrate Cleaver-Brooks equipment with the Metasys and Metasys Companion Networks through the CB-GPI. This interface resides on an RS-8 bus. The CB-Link communicates with up to five /CB-780 boiler controls and, optionally, a Enhancer. The RS-8 connects to a Johnson Controls RS- to RS-8 converter (MM-CVT0) which connects via an RS- cable to the Metasys Integrator panel. The Metasys Integrator unit can receive data from, and send data and commands to, Cleaver-Brooks equipment. Each Metasys Integrator vendor port can connect to one RS- to RS-8 converter which can connect by RS-8 bus to one CB-Link. Install the CB-GPI in Slot 6 of the CB-Link, unless a Enhancer is present. If a Enhancer is present, you must install it in Slot 6, and you must install the CB-GPI card in Slot. The number of boiler controllers that you may connect is then reduced to four. Call Cleaver-Brooks at () 9-0600 for assistance in determining how to contact your local Cleaver-Brooks office. Metasys Integrator Metasys Integrator Cleaver-Brooks Application 9

Design Considerations When integrating Cleaver-Brooks equipment, keep the following considerations in mind: Make sure all Cleaver-Brooks equipment is set up and running properly before attempting to integrate with the Metasys or Companion Network. (The Cleaver-Brooks representative is responsible for operation of CB equipment.) RS- cable distance between the Metasys Integrator unit and the ASCII Interface or the Johnson Controls MM-CVT0 is a maximum of 0 feet. Cable distance between the CB-GPI and MM-CVT0 can be a maximum of 000 feet. The CB-780 Burner Control and the CB-78 Expanded Annunciator for a given burner must be commissioned to the same slot (they must have the same vendor address). When using the CB-GPI with a, configure the as Setback Capable = Yes. When using the CB-GPI with an Enhancer, follow these instructions:. Disconnect the Metasys Integrator unit.. Connect the 9-pin female connector to a PC Commissioning port using the RS-8 CVT-0 cable configured for a Metasys Integrator unit.. Configure a terminal emulator for 9600 baud, 8 bit, stop bit, no parity.. Enter this command in lower case to set the GPI to its default values: sz zap. Enter this command in lower case to set the reply timeout to 8 seconds: st 8 Make sure you select the Enter key after each command. 0 Metasys Integrator Metasys Integrator Cleaver-Brooks Application

Metasys Integrator Setup To set up the Metasys Integrator unit, use a portable PC connected to the Metasys Integrator Terminal Port. The Metasys Integrator unit setup involves: downloading the correct vendor communication table (.VCT file) setting up the port setting up the network addressing The following table provides information specific to the Cleaver-Brooks application. For detailed procedures, see the Metasys Integrator technical bulletins. If your system has a Enhancer option, you need to download the.vct files required for the Boiler points, Enhancer Boiler points, and the Enhancer general points. If you are not using a Enhancer, you need only the points. Metasys Integrator Metasys Integrator Cleaver-Brooks Application

Metasys Network Setup Metasys Network Setup is described in the Metasys Integrator technical bulletins. This section contains details specific to Cleaver-Brooks applications. Mapping to a CS Object Table 8 lists the software model files and the recommended Display and Network Terminal (NT) Command Attributes. Whether all the models shown in the table are needed depends on the equipment used. For example, if the system has only boiler control panels (and no Enhancer), only the model file for boiler control points is needed. If the system has a Enhancer and an ASCII interface, all the three ASCII model files are used. The Enhancer points are split into two groups: Enhancer boiler points and Enhancer general points The point mapping tables show how the points are categorized.
