Section 1- Safety Before operating the BECCA SPRAY GUN WASHER, read the Instruction Manual completely. All BECCA products are engineered and manufactured to the highest performance standards and have been subjected to detailed testing before shipment from the factory. DANGER AND WARNING LABELS DANGER 1 2 3 4 WARNING 5 6 7 8 1. Presence of flammable vapors and solvents. 5. Observe warnings at all times. 2. No smoking or metal grinding nearby. 6. Read the Instruction Manual carefully. 3. Keep away from open flames. 7. Wear solvent-proof rubber gloves. 4. Wear Breathable Air during use. 8. Wear protective eyewear before use. 3
Section 2 - Operation Steps for Solvent Saver Recycler WARNING! Read the Instruction Manual to become familiar with all aspects of the equipment. 1. Before filling the Recycler, place a new Recycler Bag in the Tank. Make sure the ring is firmly in the groove of the tank and fold the excess bag material down over the ring. 2. Empty contents of Gun Washer Used Solvent container into Recycler ½ to 1 inch below Recycler Bag Ring. 3. Pour Paint waste into Recycler Make sure to stir waste paint in Recycler bag to dilute the concentration. Add no more than 64 oz. of paint waste for a 3 gal unit. Add no more than 128 oz. of paint waste for a 6 gal unit Caution!! Larger amounts of Paint will reduce the capabilities of the unit. This is due to the large heat sink created by the access solid material. 4
4. The system will initially be set a 350 ºF for 4 hours. Adjustments (see Operators Manual) to the time may be required depending on the types of solvents, type of paint, the painter s waste levels and the desired consistency of the Waste material. 5. Assure there is an empty 5-Gallon metal can under the tube coming from the Condenser. WARNING! Make sure the ground strap is attached. 6. Push the Red button. The cycle is now initiated. The system display will show Set Time, Set Temperature, & Elapsed Time. 7. We recommend not opening the unit until it shows 200ºF or 1 3 ½ Hours (depends on Temperature, Time settings & the amount of waste) after the cycle has completed. This allows the unit to cool down. 8. The resulting Still Bottom will range in consistency from slurry to a marshmallow. All of this is again dependant on the types of solvents, type of paint, the painter s waste levels, and Recycler settings (Time & Temperature). 5
9. Dispose of the Still Bottom in an approved Hazardous Waste container and assure proper labeling. 10. Manual Version - Switch out full Recycled Solvent container for the empty at the Gun Washer. Direct Connect Version No handling is required 11. You are now ready for the next cycle of the process. 6
Section 3 Troubleshooting 1. Error Code L Hi Liquid Temperature from condenser is to hot. See Instruction Manual 2. Error Code O Hi Oil Temperature is to hot. See Instruction Manual 3. Weak Solvent This is from the Spray Gun Cleaning process causing evaporation of Acetone. Add Acetone typical solvent used in Gun Cleaning formulations that starts to evaporate at 80ºF and Boils at 130ºF Section 4 - Maintenance 1. Each day - Wipe-down the unit with solvent. The paint and decals are solvent resistant. - Remove any contaminants from the bottom of the Boiler 2. Semi-Annually Blow condenser to remove dust and dirt - Replace Becca Protect Maintenance Coating (ECP 831004) - Review Ground Clamp (823079) 3. Annually - Replace Seal (804008 3 Gal) or (804018 6 Gal) - Change Oil (830066) - Review & Replace illegible or damaged Decals 7
Recycler Maintenance Each Use Each day - Replace Recycler Bag. Use only BECCA Recycler Bags to assure performance (630003 for 3 Gallon) (660006 for 6 Gallon) - Remove any contaminants from the bottom of the Boiler - Wipe-down the unit with solvent. The paint and decals are solvent resistant. - Remove any contaminants from the bottom of the Boiler Semi-Annually Blow off condenser (externally) to remove dust and dirt - Replace BECCA Protect Maintenance Coating (ECP 831004) - Review Ground Clamp (823079) Annually - Replace Seal (804008 for 3 Gallon) (804018 for 6 Gallon) - Blow out Condenser (internally) - Change Oil (630066) - Review & Replace any illegible or damaged Decals - Complete Electrical Diagnostic 8
