HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS Polarized Plug Instructions This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit into the polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not properly fit into the outlet at first, reverse it. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way. Short Cord Instructions A short power supply cord is provided to reduce the hazards resulting from becoming entangled in, or tripping over a longer cord. Longer detachable extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. The electrical rating of the longer cord should be at least that of the appliance. If the electrical rating of the extension cord is too low, it could overheat and burn. The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the counter top or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over. 11 3 1 10 9 1 Part Description 2 4 5 6 7 8 1. Before First Use Make sure to clean the grill and all of its accessories (please refer to the Cleaning and Care section). It is recommended to heat the grill for about 10 minutes (without any food on it) in order to eliminate the grease that may have adhered during manufacturing and the new product smell. Ensure that the room is well ventilated during this operation. Place the base of the appliance (4) on a flat, stable, and heat-resistant surface. Make sure the temperature controller is in the MIN position. Make sure that the drip tray/grease collector (8) is installed in the base. The plates (1) are reversible and can be used either as a grill (ribbed side up) or as a griddle (smooth side up). Put the cooking plates in place, one on each side of the base, by inserting the side with square corners into the fixed locking tabs (10), and then pushing the plates near the rounded corners, until the locking tabs (11) click into position. *The temperatures above are indicative! Insert the power cord s plug into a wall socket. The power light indicator (7) on the base will turn on. Apply a little bit of oil onto the cooking plate, if desired. Turn the knob to the desired temperature level. The ready light indicator (6) on the dial (5) will turn on. Preheat the grill/griddle to reach the set cooking temperature. Once this temperature is reached, the Ready light indicator will turn off. You can now place the food on the cooking plate, using either the grill side or griddle side, depending on the results to be achieved. 4 AFTER SALES SUPPORT POSITION TEMPERATURE 1 120 F + / - 30 F 2 150 F + / - 40 F 3 210 F + / - 50 F 4 275 F + / - 50 F 5 350 F + / - 50 F MAX 410 F + / - 50 F Assembly Temperature Settings Operation
Use a wooden spatula to stir the food or to discard cooking fat or burnt remnants through the drain hole (9), into the drip tray (8). Do not use sharp, plastic, or metallic utensils to place, to remove, or to stir food as these could damage the non-stick surface of the cooking plate. Note: make sure to empty the drip tray after each use to avoid any overflow or spills. You may vary the setting of the temperature control knobs (5) at any time during operation. The ready light indicators (6) will go on and off as the temperature adjusts itself. Grilling times will vary according to the nature of the food being cooked and to personal taste. When you have finished cooking, turn the temperature controller to the MIN position. Unplug the unit from the wall outlet by pulling on the plug. The power light indicator on the base will turn off. Wait until the appliance has completely cooled down before removing the plates (1) from the cooking plate. Do not remove the cooking plates from the base during use. Use the handles (2) of the base to carry or transport the unit, only after letting it cool for at least 30 minutes. Practical Hints Frozen food should always be thawed before it is grilled. To grill meat, put the thermostat in its maximum position and preheat the grill. For other ingredients, choose the temperature accordingly. If you grill vegetables, fish, or lean meat, spray the grilling surface with a cooking oil spray. If you are grilling meat with fat, or if the food has been marinated, there is no need to treat the grill prior to cooking. The use of wood or heat-resistant plastic utensils is recommended in order to protect the non-stick cooking surface. Never use a knife to cut food directly on the cooking surface. Cleaning and Care Before cleaning, set each temperature control to the MIN position and make sure that the plug has been removed from the wall socket. Allow the grill to cool down completely before you carefully dispose of any grease residue in the drip tray or remove the cooking plates. To remove the cooking plates, press on the plate release button (3) on each side of the base. This releases the cooking plates from the locking tabs (11). AFTER SALES SUPPORT 5
Cleaning and Care Never immerse the base, power cord, or plug in water or any other liquid. However, should there be water on the electric connection, wait until the appliance is completely dry before using it again. The drip tray and the cooking plates are dishwasher safe. You can also handwash them in warm, soapy water. Be sure to rinse them well. These parts can be immersed in water. Wipe the outer surfaces of the base with a soft, damp cloth and dry them afterwards. Do not use harsh, abrasive cleaners as these might damage the non-stick coating or the finish on your grill. Troubleshooting If the device is not working, please check: Is the main plug properly connected to the wall socket? Is the socket defective? Try another socket. Check the fuse for your wall outlet. Has the temperature control been set to the MIN position? Otherwise, please contact our Customer Service department. Do not attempt to repair a defective device yourself! Any other servicing should be performed by an authorized service representative. 6 AFTER SALES SUPPORT
