Selected Projects Work Experience: Oct 2008 Present Dubai Maritime City, Dubai, United Arab Emirates DEWAN Architects & Engineers Project Manager 544 million (3 billion AED) Creek Towers and Plaza Described as the world's first purpose built maritime centre, Dubai Maritime City is a state of the art development zone, designed to act as a regional hub for the maritime business in Dubai. A genuinely mixed use development, Dubai Maritime City will also offer a range of luxury residential and commercial opportunities ensuring that the area becomes a focal point for the near 5,000 regional maritime companies working in Dubai. Covering over two square kilometres, Dubai Maritime City is strategically located between the Dubai Dry Docks and the Port Rashid development. In the heart of Dubai Maritime City, The Creek Towers and Plaza consist of five elegant, high-rise towers situated along a dynamic landscape park and retail corridor. The Creek Towers are feature adaptable, state-of-the-art office environments tailored to the fast-moving needs of maritime business. The total GFA is approximately 400,000m² with an estimated built up area of 650,000m². The project falls under the Jurisdiction of DMC & EHS and these bodies require a LEED rating (GOLD) system to be implemented. Leading a geographically dispersed design team (40+ senior architects, architects, and junior architects located in Dubai, Manila, and Beirut), responsibilities included the execution of complete design management from schematic through to tender phase. A fasttrack environment with design development overlapped with detail design phase; my day-today duties included but were not limited to: (1) Creating and implementing a design production plan as well as utilising dispersed resources accordingly; (2) leading the design co-ordination team with other consultants such as Structure, MEP, façade, lifts, etc

Jan 2008 Oct 2008 Yas Island, Abu Dhbai, United Arab Emirates DEWAN Architects & Engineers Project Manager 272 million (1.5 billion AED) Marina Hotel One of ALDAR Properties most spectacular Mega Projects is the $40Billion YAS Island. A large island located off the City of Abu Dhabi, YAS was developed as a premier world class entertainment destination. YAS Island will be one of the world's most unique and complete entertainment Mega Developments with it s Yas Marina Circuit, which will host the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix in 2009. The centre-piece of the Yas Marina Circuit will be the drive-through five-star signature Marina hotel. The Marina hotel of 500 suites and bedrooms, a ballroom and six restaurants is the first hotel in the World that spans a F1 racetrack providing a World Class VVIP guest experience. It comprises two elliptical low rise buildings nestled beneath an overall steel and glass Gridshell lattice structure that changes colour at night using 4,800 LED panels that will cover it like a second skin. The primary function of the Gridshell structure and skin is for dramatic visual effect, to act as an iconic form that expresses the unique image of the Yas Island Marina Hotel. As a Project Manager representing the Consulting Architect and Engineer, responsibilities included the execution of complete design management from concept through to construction phase. Due to time constraints the project s time line was planned to a very tight construction-led programme whereby construction and detail design phases were overlapped. In this fast-track environment my day-to-day duties included but were not limited to: (1) Meeting client's/contractor demands for an ambitious weekly submittal schedule for all critical design deliverables; (2) co-ordinating design with the construction site on a day-to-day basis making sure the contractor gets a continuous stream of design information; (3) ensuring problems are dealt with swiftly and working on alternatives for fast buildability. July 2004 Oct 2004 Liverpool, United kingdom Arup Associates Assistant Project Manager (internship) 146 million Kings Waterfront Civic Facilities Kings Waterfront is the single largest development site in Liverpool City Centre. The centrepiece of the masterplan (14.6 hectare site) are the civic facilities comprising of a multi-purpose indoor arena/exhibition complex capable of accommodating between 8,000-10,000 spectators and providing around 7,800 sq meters of exhibition space, and a 1350 seat conference centre. The indoor arena/exhibition hall built alongside two hotels, new public spaces, leisure opportunities and apartments. In addition, to 1600 car parking spaces, and environmental improvements and a new external piazza area to provide high quality public space As an Assistant Project Manager, responsibilities included attending meetings, preparing presentation documents and drawings, liaising with other project members, and reviewing and organizing various scope, time, cost, and quality reports. During this time I also carried out other tasks such as reviewing and organizing VE options for a separate project, overseeing the development and implementation of the company s Northwest office intranet, and building a structural cost knowledge-base from previous projects. My main task for the office intranet project was to oversee the development and

implementation of the company s Northwest office intranet. Working closely with members in both offices, I was monitoring daily operations of the web team which consisted of two marketing consultants, one web designer/developer, and one IT administrator. I was also engaged in an information gathering exercise with various members within the office from different divisions of the firm, in order to provide the content for building a structural cost knowledge-base from previous projects. I then communicated the content to the global IT department who were responsible for updating this information on the company s global intranet. Oct 2000 May 2002 Al-Ain, United Arab Emirates American Consultant Office Architect 20 million (110 million AED) 45 Villas Residential Complex The Al-Ain Residential Complex was designed to achieve an exceptional quality development through creative and innovative site planning, quality and creative architectural treatment, provision of appropriate site amenities and a commitment to high quality construction methods and materials. Each Villa unit is arranged in a two storey design comprising of four bedrooms, two living rooms/dining, a Majlis, a kitchen, four baths, a utility room, and a garage. On-site guest parking was also assigned throughout the villa clusters or groupings. The residential villas also had access to recreational amenities such as the open space area and outdoor children playgrounds. Working as part of a team in a small consultant office, I was managing a small team of architects/architectural technicians. I was responsible for assisting in solutions to the design of the project with specific emphasis of committing and sticking to the design brief. I attended many meetings with the client discussing design changes and their implications on cost and time. Feb 1998 July 2000 Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates American Consultant Office Project Architect 5 million (27 million AED) Al-Reef Horse Stables Located in Abu Dhabi, just 30 minutes from the city center, the Al-Reef Horse Stables of His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is a world-class thoroughbred s horse training facilities in one of the Gulf's most up-to-date and beautiful cities. The facility comprise mainly of a training course and stables, including training areas, equine swimming pool, feed rooms, wash area and farriers facilities, vet clinic and weighing room, and jockeys facilities. Project involved the planning and construction of facilities, from design to completion. Working without close guidance, my working plan for the detail stage was to prioritize the schedule and, hence, I had to scrutinize every unplanned change to a strict time frame to deliver final design drawings. On the other hand, in the conceptual design stage, I had an uncompromising emphasis on the client s satisfaction and thus I was accommodating unplanned design changes requested by the client. Working on this project, I gained a considerable experience in Site work for different finishing activities.

Working as a Field Architect Engineer, I was responsible for a team consisting of 15 people. The job of our team was to achieve the goal of producing GIS maps. Eleven members of the team collected data, while two members produced preliminary maps on specific geographic areas within Greater Beirut. I was responsible, with the help of an assistant, for directing and supervising the activities of the Team on a daily basis in all aspects of various activities on and off site. I also carried systematic on site surveys of these areas to update, correct and annotate maps digitised from aerial orthophotos. I was systematically updating the digital maps according to the field survey, preparing the drawings for GIS use, and compiling the road database and performing final corrections and the final sectors after multiple checks.
