3.3.2 Airstop/degasser The solar station is fitted with a permanent degassing device (Airstop) on the flow pipes. The circulator conveys any air bubbles present to the Airstop system. The air contained in the heatexchanging medium is collected in the degasser. The degasser must be vented from time to time (several times after commissioning, then after one week followed by a further check after one month). For optimum efficiency, the solar installation must be vented using the degasser every six months. After venting, the installation operating pressure must be reset. 3.3.3 Antithermosiphon valve The check valve is included in the ball valve on the red thermometer and it is characterized by an opening pressure of 200 mm water column. 1. To fill, vent and rinse the installation, the antithermosiphon valves must be open. To open them, use a 14 mm openended spanner and open the valves half way. The ball in the valve lifts the check valve (45 ). 2. When the installation is operating, the ball valves must be fully open. The antithermosiphon valve operates when the stop cock is in the open position. 06/07/09-300014274-001-C DKP 6-8 / DKP 9-20 5
4 Installation 4.1 Fitting the vent device (Airstop) to the solar heat exchanger inlet Screw the vent device to the top solar connection. First place the gasket in the coupling nut. 4.2 Fitting the pumping unit to the solar heat exchanger outlet Hold the pumping unit in place with the insulation housing on the tank and screw it onto the bottom solar connection. First place the gasket in the coupling nut. M001698-A 6 DKP 6-8 / DKP 9-20 06/07/09-300014274-001-C
4.3 Fitting to the solar station, steps to be followed: 1. Attach the control system to the mounting base frame provided. 6. Remove the part of the casing in plexiglass from the front insulation housing. Fit the front insulation housing without plexiglass but with control system to the solar station. The control system is now fitted and can be set from the front. 7. Drill a hole 8 in the side cover and feed through the DHW sensor. 8. Fitting the DHW sensor. 9. Refit the cover.. 9 8 M001701-A 2. Secure the control system on the mounting base frame to the station, above the pump. D001003-B 10. Connect the connector delivered with the solar station to the circulator. M001702-A 3. Fit the wiring between the pump and the control system. 4. Connect the tank sensors and the solar collectors. 5. Make the 230 V connection (qualified personnel only). Electrical connections, cf. commissioning the Diemasol A control system. 06/07/09-300014274-001-C DKP 6-8 / DKP 9-20 7
4.4 Connecting the pipe circuit to the solar station Recommendation: connect the flow and the return according to the instructions in the illustration. If need be, it is nonetheless possible to modify the return by turning the valve block from left to right. After completing the solar circuit, filling it and checking the pressure, it is possible to fit the front housing to the station. 4.5 Assembling the pipes If connecting by brazing: - Strong brazing on joints to be brazed without scouring agent/ paint stripper. - Remove the rubber gasket before brazing. - Put the gasket back in place after brazing. The arrow on the pump must be pointing towards the roof ridge. Make the connections using clamping ring screw connections. With small systems, use De Dietrich propylene glycol containers to recover fluid under the safety valve discharge pipe. 8 DKP 6-8 / DKP 9-20 06/07/09-300014274-001-C
4.6 Hydraulic connections 4.6.1 Wall connection kit for expansion vessel The connection kit includes a 0.5 metre long stainless steel hose with nuts for pipe unions and flat gaskets for both sides as well as an arm and a screw connection supporting the expansion vessel. The connecting hose is arranged in such a way as to be able to fit the expansion vessel to the wall, beside the hot water tank. If the appliance is not installed against a wall, the installer must fit an extension (copper pipe) connecting the expansion vessel or connect the expansion vessel to the conduit coming out of the top of the hot water tank. If, due to lack of space, the arm cannot be mounted as such, it can be used as a floor-standing support. In this case, the opened expansion vessel is fitted in the horizontal position. 4.6.2 Dimensioning the expansion vessel The volume of the expansion vessel depends above all on the volume likely to be vapourised when the installation is switched off. For this reason, the expansion vessel must be chosen according to the number of collectors. When the number of collectors is high, parallel expansion vessels can be fitted.
