Product Guide Pg. 9 About Linoleum Linoleum is a natural floor made from 97% natural raw materials, 70% of which are rapidly renewable, along with a 43% recycled content. The key raw materials used in its production include linseed oil, which comes from the flax plant seeds, wood flour as production waste from controlled forestry plantations and jute, a crop whose fibres provide the material for the membrane onto which the linoleum is calendared. This makes linoleum a great choice for customers seeking a sustainable flooring and wanting to reduce their overall environmental impact. Linoleum is sold under several brand names. Marmoleum made by Forbo is one of the most common commercial brands http://www.forbo.com/flooring/en-gl/products/linoleum/cmlack Linoleum is easily maintained with the correct floor care procedures developed specifically for linoleum. These must be practiced from the day linoleum is installed to avoid problems created by incorrect procedures or untrained staff. For best results, some traditional floor care procedures or practices should be avoided: Do not use high ph stripper solutions, heavy duty stripping pads or course nylon brushes which can cause serious damage to the flooring. Do not allow wet solutions to stand on linoleum for extended periods of time. Do not use ultra high speed burnishing at speeds over 2500 rpm. Propane powered burnishers are specifically not recommended. The life expectancy of most flooring surfaces including linoleum, can be maximized by protecting the flooring surface from the effects of traffic and soil. Wood Wyant manufactures a complete line of floor coatings (finishes and sealers) that are specially formulated to enhance appearance and provide excellent floor protection under a variety of conditions. Each product has been specially formulated to respond to specific traffic and soil conditions, with different maintenance methods and equipment. The following factors should be considered before selecting a floor care system: desired gloss level, traffic and soiling, equipment available to maintain floor and budget available for labour and materials. Contact your Wood Wyant Account Manager for assistance in determining your floor care program needs. 2

Preparing a New Floor Linoleum safe products such as Satin or Forte Floor Finish (or other approved finish), Vert-2-Go Oxy or Vert-2-Go Floor Cleaner. A rotary floor machine (175-300 rpm), dust mop, autoscrubber, a Taski contact pad or a regular blue or red pad, Rayon finish mop or Microfibre finish mop, a putty knife and wet vacuum. 1. Remove dry soils using a dust mop or vacuum. As you dust mop, use your putty knife to remove gum, sticky labels, etc., from the floor. 2. Fill a bucket or autoscrubber with either Vert-2-Go Oxy (dilution 1:660) or Vert-2-Go Floor Cleaner (dilution 1:128) with water. Apply generously to the floor and allow to work for 3-5 minutes then scrub with your floor machine. Pick up with a wet vacuum. 3. Using clean water, rinse the floor. 4. Allow to dry thoroughly. 5. Apply a medium coat of Satin Floor Finish to the floor using a finish mop by first marking out a workable area and then filling in using figure 8 motions. For a high shine look, use Forte. 6. Allow 30-45 minutes dry time. Apply 3 coats of finish, using the same procedure. It is advisable to apply each coat in opposite directions to avoid the potential for missed areas. NOTE: There is no need to buff between coats or immediately following the final application. Prior to the finish application a sealer may be applied if there is a high risk of stains. To prevent damaging the floor, it is important to follow the procedures without exception. DO NOT STRIP with high ph stripper solutions. 3

Daily Cleaning Linoleum safe products such as Vert-2-Go Oxy, Vert-2-Go Floor Cleaner (or a Wood Wyant neutral cleaner) or Vert-2-Go Autoscrubber+. A dry mop, a wet mop, a putty knife, a Trax tool and bucket. 1. Remove dry soils using a dust mop or vacuum. As you dust mop, use your putty knife to remove gum, sticky labels, etc. from the floor. 2. Fill your mop bucket with clean cool water and add either Vert-2-Go Oxy (dilution 1:660) or Vert-2-Go Floor Cleaner (dilution 1:80 to 1:128). If using an autoscrubber fill with clean cool water and Vert-2-Go Autoscrubber+ (dilution 1:128). 3. Clean the floor by damp mopping or using an autoscrubber. Do not over-wet the surface. 4. Black marks can be removed using a Trax tool. Use a putty knife to remove gum, sticky labels, etc. Be careful not to damage the floor when using your putty knife. 4

Restoring With A Buffing Compound Linoleum safe products such as Vert-2-Go Oxy or Vert-2-Go Floor Cleaner and Vert-2-Go Quicksnap. A rotary floor machine (300-1200 rpm), red or tan floor pad, dust mop or vacuum, wet mop and bucket, hand eraser pad, and putty knife. 1. Remove dry soils using a dust mop or vacuum. 2. Fill your mop bucket or autoscrubber with clean cool water and add either Vert-2-Go Oxy (dilution 1:660) or Vert-2-Go Floor Cleaner (dilution 1:80 to 1:128). 3. Clean the floor by damp mopping or using an autoscrubber. Do not over-wet the surface. 4. Black marks can be removed using a Trax tool. 5. A rotary floor machine (175-300 rpm), dust mop, 3M 5300 blue pad, rayon finish mop or Microfibre finish mop, putty knife and a wet vacuum. 1. Remove dry soils using a dust mop or vacuum. As you dust mop, use your putty knife to remove gum, sticky labels, etc. from the floor. 2. Fill a mop bucket or autoscrubber with Vert-2-Go Optiscrub (dilution 1:64) following product dilution rates to water and apply generously to the floor. 3. For a high shine use Forte. 8. Allow 30 to 45 minutes dry time and apply a second coat if necessary. To avoid the build-up of finish on the floor, do not deep scrub more than 2 times without performing a strip-out. This is more important than repeating the application technique. 3 x 6

Allow 30-45 minutes dry time between coats. Apply 3 coats for optimal protection. Do not use regular or high pro black stripping pads as they can damage the flooring. 7

Restoring Damaged Flooring Linoleum safe products such as Satin or Forte Floor Finish, Vert-2-Go Shield Sealer and Vert-2-Go Neutra Strip. Allow to work for 5-10 minutes and scrub with your floor machine. Pick up the solution with a wet vacuum. 3. If there is a buildup of floor finish or the floor has been burnished frequently then it may become necessary to repeat the stripping process in some areas. 4. Rinse the floor and allow to dry thoroughly. 5. If using a sealer, with a finish mop apply 1 coat of Vert-2-Go Shield (optional). 6. Apply a medium coat of Satin or Forte to the floor using a finish mop by first marking out a workable area and then filling in using figure 8 motions. Allow 30 to 45 minutes dry time. 7. Apply a medium coat of Satin Floor Finish (or approved Wood Wyant Finish) to the floor using a finish mop by first marking out a workable area and then filling in using the same figure 8 motions as before. 12.
